I think I was on 2.49 when I did this, as I still am, might have been older though. I think this was pretty quick to render, as it's only halos, so there's no need for lighting or ray shading. I did it on my little notebook, I remember, it wasn't remotely long enough render time to be worth transferring over to Sparky (my big laptop).
