  • thumbs up if you watch this in 2011

  • i cant find this part in the whole film. Any ideas?

  • great olimpic!

  • how can this have ANY dislikes????

  • But Leni made special propaganda films for the nazis !!

And she had a good relation to Hitler

  • This is epic!

  • UNFORGETTABLE!!!

  • Meine Oma war ein kleines Mädchen, als sie dort war!

  • She was just great.

  • Por un momento se siente qe las diferencias politicas he ideologicas se olvidaron ...qe desgracia lo qe ocurriria despues

  • RIESENSTAHL

  • Der Film lebt auch durch die Musikbegleitung... Ist so schön!!

  • Das ist Filmkust. Leni Riefenstahl the best - la mejor hasta hoy.

  • Does someone of you folks know if the music is by Herbert Windt? Thx for any hint.

  • Yes, he is the composer

  • Yes, there is a full version where his name is stated.

  • Say what you want about being used. Leni Riefenstahl was a great artist! She was in the wrong place at the right time. I will not blame her for the Nazi regime. She was wonderful.

  • Don't worry about Leni. She was not part of the Nazi party. She was a well recognize actor from the silent era, national and international, and therefore free to choose her destiny.

  • on the one hand I hate it because it is Nazi-Propaganda. On the other hand it is one of the best things I've ever seen.

  • Look closely. It's not a Nazi propaganda. On the hurles dicipline we could see how Leni(director) emphazises the shots on the american running who's winning. There're more close shots from the Japanese divers who won some metals. Not propaganda at all, we discussed this topic at my Documentary Class.

  • looks good

  • inspiring

  • amazing

  • even though the nazis started ww2, they hella know how to put on a show, best olympics ceremony ive seen

  • @liquidgrave

Britain and France started WW2, Germany just invaded Poland, that's not a World War. When Britain and France declared war on Germany they created WW2.

  • Say what you like about Hitler, he was right about everything.

  • Einfach genial! Der schönste Film aller Zeiten.

    R.I.P. Leni Riefenstahl.

  • Nazi Olympics? And in 2008 we get Communist Olympics? Let's just called The Olympics, please.

  • but...thats the fact :)

  • no its not, during the olympic games the german government pretend very good to be a nice and friendly nation and the most people who visited the games where normal. Berlin was international, thats why hitler didnt like it and wanted to rebuild it as Germania.

these propaganda films where published after the games. by the way, i thing they are brilliant and very interesting. except for the beginning and the end(pure propaganda) its just a documantary.

  • No, it's not propaganda. But the 2010 Winter Olympics coverage of nba are merely propaganda. We hardly (if non) see anything about the rest of the athletes. Play close attention to that.

  • NO, it's a wrong fact. This olympic was not a Nazi Propaganda. Leni (the director) wasn't even part of the Nazi party. In fact she edited the video herself and she decided what to show or what to cut out of the raw-prints. It took her 2 to 3 years to edit it.

  • @Chocheonline 2 or 3 years? i am pretty sure she used a mac! ;-)

  • @Chocheonline I think the propaganda value was more subtle than you give credit for. Watch the Prologue. We go from the birthplace of the Olympics (and civilization) in Greece. But it is now in ruins, only faded remnant of what was. We then go directly by way of the torch to the New Germany and to the Olympic Stadium, not in ruins, but a shining beacon of a new civilization, of which Germany is the leader.

  • @Chocheonline it was still produced by the order of the fuhrer and in 1930s/40s Germany the Nazi Party controlled EVERYTHING imaginable.

  • @Chocheonline thats right, but she was friends with hitler and her films were paid by the propaganda manager goebbels.

Also all press was censored by the nazis, so she couldn't have published this filmif it hadnt been pro Nazis.

  • @Chocheonline Leni was hard believer in NS idelogy until her death

  • here here.

  • it is the olympic anthem, composed by Werner Egk

  • superb documentary, so many great episodes where visual art revelas itself so maserfully! So heroic, so pathetic, characteristically Hellenic ideals!

  • nice

  • bu ne lan aminiza gorum

  • Beautiful Video. Leni was a genius. I like the part when every flag receives a crown in sign of respect and admiration. She showed us the beauty of the world and of every human race.

  • The Olympiastadion was built for eternal.

  • Thanks a lot for this video.

  • Sehr Schön!!!

  • tremendous skills... stunning!

  • Do you know why this was made?!?!?!?!

  • To foster the spirit of competition and cultural enhancement.

  • it was made just for fun, they had to much money left and they had to chose between a starbucks commercial and one for the olympics.

  • This video is just beautiful, but what the poster is writing just wierd.

  • wow... that was actually quite beautiful and powerful.

  • thankyou for posting!!

  • Leni is supreme, can't be equalled...
