He's been called Metal Sonic since he first appeared in Sonic CD back in '92 or '93, and the only movie he's appeared in is the Sonic OVA from Japan, in which he was called "Hyper Metal Sonic" or just "Metal" for short. There are other Sonic robots, but that one is definitely Metal Sonic.
