@TPsynth- Yeah same thing happens with my actually SNES. I play simcity quite a bit and sometimes one tiny bump of the SNES and the game just goes black.
Then when I turn it off and on again all my saved data is gone. It really sucks when your only about 5,000 people away from a megalopolis(500,000 people) in simcity and you totally get fucked over. But whatever shit happens.
I havent had any trouble with my Retro Duo playing any games BUT it is very sensitive to losing game data. The slightest bump to console during play resulted in losing hours of S.Metroid saved data and be careful when turning off SNES side not to switch directly to NES side before removing cartridge, this resulted in losing all saved data on DKC 2, was on final boss and lost all data, aaaaarrrgh! Pin slots seems loose or low quality, Ive never owned a real SNES so dont know if this is normal.
SNES games save the data within the game, not in the console itself. The memory in the cartridge can be accidentally erased if cartridge is dropped or bumped while playing. Data can also be lost if system is turned off before it has saved all data.
This happened three times while trying to complete both S.Metroid and DKC2. This could have been the old cartridges. After I started being more careful I didnt have the problem again. Good Luck. I dare you to finish Super Metroid.
ok thanks again for the help. im thinking of getting a retro duo at the end of the month. why is S. metroid hard cos thts a game i am looking forward to playing tht and chrono trigger
Although this guy had a problem with his, that's just it, he had a problem with "his". My Retro Duo has no problems whatsoever with save data, and I have knocked my system before by accident a few times. Also, it is a problem with the batteries inside of a cart, not the system it is used on. If any data is deleted, it's usually not going to be the system's fault. It's usually a result of hard bumps or removing the game while saving.
The NES games are very sensitive in this console. If you get the gray screen, try and re-adjust several times. I got a blank screen 6 times for Dr. Mario (one game that should work just fine!) but if you adjust it little by little you'll get the hang of it. once you know just the right way to insert the Game Pak then it works OK.
Just wondering though, I know that earlier "Clone" systems. The NES sound was a little "off" and not totally true to the original. Has that been fixed with the Retro Duo system?
Oh, in the early models (1991-93 era) the sound was not exactly true to original, but without too large of faults. The noise channel pattern was different.
I don't know whether there is any system currently out there which has a filter design which even roughly resembles the NES (this machine has none audible at all). 25% and 75% duty cycle pulsewaves may be swapped or channel phase wrong, which is only audible in rare abuse cases.
I heard that there is going to be an adapter able to play nes games with nes controllers and light gun Can someone please PM as soon as it comes so i can buy
I kinda doubt it, since didn't the Super Scope 6 have a special sensor for the TV? The Zapper was just a simple lightgun. You could try it of course, but I'm betting the SS only works with the SNES SS games...
I figured out that if I plugged DD into the game genie, it worked every time. Must be some poor connection somewhere or something.
Other games tested and working:
Return of Double Dragon (Super Famicom),
TMNT IV: Turtles in Time (SNES), Final Fight 3 (SNES), Super Mario All Stars + World (SNES), Double Dragon II (NES). And of course the NES Game Genie works great!
yes nebraska they work, as soon as i got my retro duo i noticed the controller ports looked similar so i tested one of my snes controllers on it and they work just fine
With the controllers looking very much like the Super Nintendo controllers, can original Super NES controllers work well on this video game system? I'd like to know.
According to the websites (and looking at closeup photos of the machine), it appears SNES compatible controllers WILL work with the Retro duo. Just not NES controllers (unless that adapter comes out like people were saying).
All SNES controllers and controller accessories like the super scope work with this system. I would really like to see a NES controller adapter for this system just to play duck hunt and use the zapper.

It's not a real signature on the StarTropics letter. The ink on mine breaks up in the exact same places.

Okay I can confirm the following games work:
NES: SMB/Duck Hunt; Gyromite; Donkey Kong Classics
SNES: Combatribes

I just unboxed my new Retro Duo system... wow, pretty slick! However I was sad to learn that my Double Dragon NES cart only produced a gray screen.
Is this an incompatible title or is my cartridge borked? Because I tried cleaning it and so forth, but no dice. Can anyone confirm?

I've used the original SNES controllers, the Super Advantage, and the Ascii-Pad, and they all worked great!

Does it work with the NES GameGenie? Will it
work with Nes Paperboy? Also what's the link to
your store? and don't tell me "Haven't tested it
personally, but I believe it should work fine."
It means you need to test it before a plunk some
money down on it.
