@brian1969a I'm trying to remember back then (I was bowling regularly around this time), and the only blue balls I can remember from this time is the Nail, the Tank (I don't remember who made that, some odd-ball company), the Pearl Hammer, and Brunswick had just come out with a Blue Rhino around this time (I was a senior in High School and had one). I know Hammer later came out with a Blue version, but not sure how long after this it would have been.
I knew scott growing up. My Grandma and him where good friends. I am right handed, but I watched him bowl when I was around the ages of 2 and 3. I have bowled left handed ever sense, I have the same style and everything. His house was so cool, he has a mini bowling arcade in it and everything.
I have some vague recollection that he had to retire from the tour due to injury some years ago. I met him briefly back in '91 or so, seemed a very nice guy.
His style was crazy, I loved how the ball seemed to hit his leg just above the knee on the downswing. Crazy armswing and all but what happened at the point of release was what mattered. Unique roll but effective at times for sure.
cool bowling only 1 ball !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta love Marshall's reactions to his own and Dever's shots!

The next week, my local pro climbed the ladder in Indy to come in 2nd. Does anyone have the NBC's True Value from fall of 1987?

Are they throwing blue pearl hammers? kinda hard to tell

@XXXXShelts Definitely not throwing the Pearls, but other than that, I'm not sure what they are throwing. Maybe Nails (made by Hammer)?

Scott is still only in his mid 40's according to his age in the beginning of this match. So he is probably very well.

Interesting Scott Devers's throw style. The ball almost to the gutter. Is he still alive?

Scott Devers is alive and well. He manages a bowling center in Indiana owned by PBA Hall of Famer Mike Aulby.
