When my stepdad was a young man (around 60s) they still had sirens up from the cold war and they would test them for sevear weather and during snow storms. When school was canceled the police department would anounce it through the sirens and then play music threw them like this. I wish I was around to see that. Then the 80s rolled around and they stoped using them then 40 years later they started to rot off the polls so they took them down but they left the control boxes on the polls.

I did not know that old sirens like that can be used as outdoor speakers. The only question is, where do the wires go for proper connection of the device. If a torando siren has been retired from its main purpose, I don't see why it can't be used like a speaker would be abusive as long as a simulated siren isn't generated illeagaly.

@Rcrby525 I guess if he wants to use it that way that's his option, although I will agree that it wasn't the original intended purpose for this siren. Given that this is a speaker style siren, I'm sure it's built much better than a regular outdoor speaker. He probably was thinking that when he decided to use it for entertainment purposes. There's a video of one that plays the Westminster Chime at 6PM. It sounds beautiful.
