you need a program called Lunar IPS, then patch the new file with the old NBA JAM TE (U) rom (make sure it's the US version, not the Euro or japanaese version)

I don't remember Magic Johnson or Shaq in NBA Jam. In fact being a Magic fan, I remember Shaq was never in the game, nor was an unlockable player

Shaq appeared in the original arcade version of NBA Jam, as well as the beta home versions of T.E.

As for Magic Johnson: Looking at the arcade NBA Jam's internal order of player portraits (arranged alphabetically by last name), some things don't match up.

Vlade Divac and Horace Grant appear between players with I and K names, and Bill Laimbeer lies between Robinson and Schrempf. From this, one can speculate that Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, and Dennis Rodman once occupied these spots.
