  • As much fun as it may be, just a message to be careful, especially at night, with mixing tubing and drinking. My good family friend who was 19 fell victim to a terrible drowning accident this week. He was with a group of mates and 3 days later his body was discovered by local authorities. I know most of you are smart enough not to do it yourself, but just remember that if you're with a group, don't give into peer pressure and be sure to look out for those around you.

    Thanks

  • Can someone explain how you pay at the bars? Where do you keep your money and cigarettes and clothes??

  • @bekyeahuh @bekyeahuh well i had a waterprrof bags to keep all my belongings in, you can get those bags everywhere over there, there the plastic tube type bags that you roll over at the top and are totally waterproof so you can swim with them and nothing gets wet. there about 15 quid. you pay by cash on the river but vang vieng town did have 1 cash machine when i was there, although now i bet there are loads! have a great time, although toatally spoilt by us, its great fun!

  • Hey, check out the song I wrote about this awesome place!

  • excellent video, made me laugh sooo much, brought back fond memories of last year. wish i was back to do it again and again. well done !!!

  • @pattyjay ....wow, did mommy forgot to buy your cookies?

or did your daddy sneak up on you in the bedroom when you were 5?

it's clear that you have an anger managment problem that makes shout out (or write down) words like this. I suggest you take some reading and writng classes and the next time you're frustrated, you should be able to use more then 2 words. anyway, i hope you had a good time in vang viennes losing your mind. ps: don' t make any babies, or I'll call the vet to put them down.

  • Thanks for uploading this VDO !!! i will visit this place soon

  • This is not kool! I'm Laos, it's kool everyone like to visit my country. However, dont destoryed our motherland. I dont like to see all these western come to our country get drunk and drug........NOT very nice to see this types of pics.

yes, you can have a good time and have fun, but dont fuck it up.

    Thanks. Peace.

  • what are you talking about? this shit looks hectic! i'm doing it at xmas!

  • did the thing this year in february. . . .

    interesting very interesting ;-)

  • thats what we want!

  • I love tourist come to Vang veing. Welcome to Laos.

  • Agree. It;s not the Laos experience, BUT . . . It is one heck of an experience. The locals are raking it in and I doubt if they would change it (atleast the ones who can put thier kids through school and can put a fantastic meal on the table every night).. Lot's of places are being spoiled in SEA, the locals can shut it down any time they want. Doubt they will and put in the same postion, don;t think I would either.

  • and the music was much better!

  • I don't want to sound like an old fart, but when I visited vang vieng, it was unspoiled. this was only 8 years ago. no slide, no techno, no swing and for sure not that many tourists. but I think I'm part of the problem. when I came back I was advising everybody to visit the place. I went again the next year and there were already some changes going on but not like this. so sad.

  • I agree that vang vieng has become a westerners haven for madness drunkeness and mayhem, and is not representative of Laos at all.....but.......SOD IT, It was amazing! only this part of Laos is like this, although now that DON DET has electricity, that will be far more sad to see that place become like vang vieng. I wouldnt change Vang Vieng, like wise Don Det for anything!

  • haha i totally agreee. it's one hell of an experience, and you get crazy places every conuntry. we dont want to keep laos in poverty either just because "its niec to look at" but i totally understand what you mean profect1001 its just weird how things change so fast.

i was so happy Don Det had electricity, FANS, you need FANS, otherwise in that heat it's impossible to sleep.

    ending note, Laos was amazing!!

  • @hover1977 ah man, i was there 10 years ago. back then it wanted to be what it is today, its brought a lot to the community funding and infrastructure wise. i think whether or not its 'good' or 'bad' isnt really answerable, kinda concerns me that a country modernising is seen as a damaging effect by a lot of people.

too long, didnt read? Haters gonna hate, everyone is having a blast including the locals.

  • @profet1001 FUCK OFF

  • @pattyjay ....wow, did mommy forgot to buy your cookies?

or did your daddy sneak up on you in the bedroom when you were 5?

  • @profet1001 i was there in 2001 when i was 17, it wanted to be what it is today, now its epic! yayy tubing

  • @profet1001 Personally I think much of the residents are willing to overlook what you consider to be "bad" due to the money it brings to the community, most of these people are happy and not causing any trouble. When I was there all the backpackers high on weed and pissed on laos' finest were just as friendly and peaceful as the locals. I doubt vang vieng will ever become a true tourist trap, I cant see Laos as a country matching thailand and vietnam in terms of tourism anytime soon.

  • what the hell happened to the place?!

  • WHAT?!

    whats happened?!!??!!

  • nice video. coming back in march =)

  • nice vdo man .. iam go there someday ... thxz for sharein bro
