All this stuff about differentiating europeans is a sensitive and difficult topic reminding people of crude (and very biased) racial studies as performed before WWII. The truth is that all european peoples come more or less from the same genetic stocks, with varying percentages depending of the area, which is confirmed by the study of genetic haplogroups. I think I understand what Nikkkred meant, even if I don't completely agree with him.

I think he is mistaking what was called in the past east-baltic traits for typically slavic traits. Those east-baltic traits are common among eastern europeans and Finnish people, and give to SOME of them a distinctive look that doesn't exist in western Europeans. It doesn't mean they are not europeans, or that they are not whites (mixed with asians or such bullshit of this style), they are simply from a different stock of the white race.

Slavs can exhibit many different subtypes of the white race that are common in many other areas of Europe like nordic or dinaric traits. Mortensen's nordic traits wouldn't clash in a city like Moscow, just the same way that Aragorn was perfectly fit among his kinmen from Rohan. I can't tell the number of times I have met Poles or Serbs who were shocking look-alike (face, body-build, expression) of my relatives in Auvergne, except for the size.

I don't completely agree on the topic of distinguishing French from Germans. NORTHERN French are not that distinguishable from Germans, as for the other ones, it depends : the more dinaric looking could pass for Austrians, maybe the mediterraneans wouldn't fit that much. Last but not least, if you were making stand together a Spaniard, a Breton and an Irish, your chances of distinguishing them would be near zero.
