I have 3 of these in my small community aquarium. They're the largest species and it's the most peaceful community I've ever had in 10 years of keeping fish. Usually the larger fish tend to bully the smaller ones, but not these. How do you get them to breed?
I'm impressed by how peaceful these fish are, even when spawning. If this was a colony of "cichlasoma" or jewelfishes, the other fishes would be pinned to the other side of the tank!
I have one of these beautiful fish. Mine is very kind. I payed about 12 of 13 dollars for him. I am relativly new at fish keeping. My tank set up is...
8 gold neons
6 mickey mouse platies
3 assorted cory catfish
2 black guppies
1 platinum angelfish
These are in a 30 gallon tank. I am not going to add very many more fish. Mabey 1 or 2 more guppies but that is it. I am pretty conservative. But what a great fish!
i just need help plz see my videos and tell me which one is male and which one is female and y thay r fighting with my koi angel thay eat my koi sides finz plz help me
They probably are not rare anymore. I think my Dad was the first to breed them in the USA. He purchased a few dime size babies when he was judging a discus show in Asia. He raised them up and got 1 pair from them and bred them. The fish in the video are the offspring from the spawn. He thought the angels were an interesting color and just wanted to see if they would breed true. They are pretty angelfish.
@825AlanPaul I believe he was the first to breed them here in the USA. I never saw anybody offering them for sale on any forums, aquabid or ebay at the time. Nobody talked about breeding them either. Most people didn't even know they existed. We had them for over a year before they spawned. We didn't sell the fry until they were over 10 months old. They sold out immediately because everybody wanted to breed them and nobody here had them for sale at that size. They are quite common now.
