My interest in Malcolm X and the NOI developed after reading The Autobiography of Malcolm X. I do believe he was one of the most prolific African-Americans in history. He will, however, continue to be labeled a trouble maker. His belief in the NOI came from a need to blame someone, anyone for his own mistakes. You can find anyone whose down on their luck and give them an excuse for it, they will take it.
I mean EM didn't alluva sudden, from a life of spiritual purity, one day decide "I think I'll get my secretary pregnant". He was burning with lust and planning things out beforehand. The same holds true for how he corrupted himself as a leader and the NOI as an organization.

No one can say that Malcolm was not a special person. He was a very articulated, natural, political leader. I personally admired his braveness, at the end of his life to take the steps to change his mind in the issues of race relations in the United States. Malcolm"s house was bombed a week before his death and he was murdered just days after this speech. My interest in Malcolm X and the NOI developed after reading The Autobiography of Malcolm X. I do believe he was one of the most prolific African-Americans in history. He will, however, continue to be labeled a trouble maker. His belief in the NOI came from a need to blame someone, anyone for his own mistakes. You can find anyone whose down on their luck and give them an excuse for it, they will take it.

I think Elijah Muhammad did some great things. Malcom X too. These are clearly understatements! But they were not men with a past free of misdeeds. And I don't believe either of them claim to be.
BUT I don't think it's correct for Malcom X to point out that the EM's movement was so spiritually pure in the beginning. Check the timeline on those teenage pregnancies! Whatever he did, was done years beforehand as lust and pre-meditation. It just didn't all come to the surface until years later.

No one can say that Malcolm was not a special person. He was a very articulated, natural, political leader. I personally admired his braveness, at the end of his life to take the steps to change his mind in the issues of race relations in the United States. When i watch this video, i can see why he was killed. Articulate, and reaching his peak. Combined with allying with rebel whites, this was bound to do some major damage to the establishment. Malcolm isnt just a hero for black people, he was a great human being. What would have become of him if he was allowed to live past 39 years old. Probably grow into someone yet more fierce since re-inventing himself was a big part of his life. I think thats why they killed him, he just kicked too much ass.
