  • is the water really clear?

  • Wow, this song sucks

  • I ordered today an U2 ,because my U1 doenst work anymore. I hope its better then the last ;) Thanks for sharing ;)

  • Nice finger nails.

Very impressed, u handled it with one hand only. ;)

  • how much is a u2 filter?

  • @theturtlelover11 £33 from pets at home

  • hello there,

first of all thx for the upload.

I have a question, can you put the filter fully under water?

    nice vid,

    Finn ^^

  • @frinner10

yes you can, but the venturi pump will not work. for the venturi pump, the valve should be 1" above water.

  • @frinner10 yes you can, but if you want bubbles, it needs to be slighly above the water level.

  • thanks for posting this!

  • Would this be better than a under gravel filter?

  • @18TSTAR

yes as an under-gravel filter has less flow, due to the gravel. so for mechanical filtration, yes, bio is as good, and carbon will work better. ease of use is higher too, as you can have a section of it above water, for easier filter changes. this is probably a better choice, as the output is not contaminated by the gravel (think of flying fish poo)

  • @18TSTAR 100%... YES

  • Never used internal filter before, may i ask why the top nozzle is able to create air bubble (that I want) while the middle and bottom are not?

I'm fed up with using air pump thats splash water to my light and wet my desk. Is it possible to use an internal filter in order to create aeration for my tank instead of air pump?

    Thanks a lot.

  • @beavertown2006 HI! It it possible, just get the type of filter, that have a special attachment on top nozzle, which makes it possible to take air into the filter and later push it into the water. Why the middle and bottom nozzle can not produce air bubbles, is because they are both under the water. Hope this helps.

  • how do I use the venturi system, like how do i know how much air to put in?

  • @mrg00dstuff Hi! I put something in the middle, not too much and not too small :) Depends on the size of aquarium.

  • @solzica82 I've setup U2 filter, but only the top hole is actually bringing out water, the middle part and the bottom hole are doing nothing, did I do something wrong?

  • @mrg00dstuff Hi! Is possible you don't see the water flow from the middle and the low hole, try rotating the upper button and see if there is any movement in the water - try observing the plants or fishes. But if nothing is it possible that the pipe that brings water out is stuffed with dirt? When you try to rotate the button is there any dirt coming out?

  • @solzica82

i think i can't see any flow, I'll observe some more later and let you know

  • @mrg00dstuff there is a knob at the top which is the flow selector. look a the manual for further info.

  • Would have been a great video if you spoke instead of using the annoying music.

  • I own a fluval u4 filter and use it for a SECONDARY filtration unit in my 60g saltwater reef tank. I use it for flow, since it has lots of options to get the flow you want in your tank. The venturi system is designed to go onto the top outlet, which will use the water pressure exiting the pump to draw air. !! you must use the top output on larger models to get bubbles) After 1 year of operation the pump began having power issues. Hagen was happy to replace it for me (keep your receipt!)

  • @slurik great thing to know! I have the same problem, only what I use to help me is I brush the top output with brush that is used for cleaning baby bottles. This I have to do every time I change the water, it's not making me happy, but apart from that the rest is working great.

  • @solzica82 When I say my pump was having power issues, i mean it was blowing breakers and overwhelming the wall outlet for voltage. The unit was defunkt, it didnt have anything to do with cleaning. You should never, ever, ever clean filters during a water change either bud. If fish died for a top ten reasons, cleaning filters during water changes would be one of them.

  • is that music tarkan? I have a fluval u3 in my 90litre (approx) tank with no plants and the way is getting cloudy, i have the filter vertical but i was wondering whats the best setting to get rid of the cloudy water? top middle or bottom setting? thanks.

  • @chuckydog cloudy water is ammonia, it could be too many fish, it could also be too much feeding, reduce feeding, stock properly and use the filter within its proper reccomendations (U4 can handle 60g freshwater not sure about the others I use it secondary in saltwater, not enough flow for a full 60g sw setup.) remember when you buy fish they are a fraction of their adult size! get less fish and more water, you wont have any cloudiness!

  • @slurik i got rid of it, it had break down problems, it kept stopping and getting clogged and i only had it a few weeks when this occured, i ended up buying an external filter instead

  • @chuckydog canister filters are the way to go, just a lot more expensive!

  • Is the filter silent?

    Thank you very much

  • already took 2 of these back. the motor shorted out with in 2 days. also you need to make it so the top port and bottom port can work at same time. these things arent cheap either

  • Can I fully submerge the whole thing in? Like at the bottom with everything covered?

  • yes you can, only that it will not put in air bubbles.

  • What is the Venturi system? What does it control? How do you use it?

  • this is a small part that is hooked on top , where the water is coming out of filter, and it provides air and this is how you get bubbles in the water, without using air pump :)

  • Nice video. I just got one. I enjoyed the music too! :)

  • isn't Turkish music just the best? :D

  • why the indian music?

  • I got the U1 and the stupid jet beats the crap out of my turtle.

  • i just bought the fluval u3 and turtle pebbles for my turtle tank does the fluval u3 work good for you because mines working fine but my one friend got it and his really wasnt working

  • sorry to reply you so late, but hope your problem with filter stopped by now. What "crap" is coming out, white? Can be bacterial reaction, sucking in, no filter makes the water to run so fast, it could suck in dirt, unless it's to powerful for the size of tank, that is why you can use a special tool, that vacuums the dirt from the gravel. Hope this answer helps

  • ok i need your help

i dont know why but when i put the fluval u3 into my tank, it seems like crap comes out of it making the water dirty instead of cleaning it! what in the f man!!!

and it seems as though it doesnt suck anything in, i'm getting really frustrated ughh.

  • nice vid! crapy music.

  • thank you for positive comment :-)

    the music is:

arabic Belly Dance Music _ Turkish POP _ Mustafa Sandal & Tarkan - Aya benzer & Simarik (remix)

  • how much is it?

  • in Slovenia-Europe it costs about 25€

  • What's the name of the song.. ? I had it on my computer but I deleted it for some reason.. could you please help me ? Thanks!! Great vid btw!

  • hi ya am also new to this(loving by the way!) buts whats the best setting for fish and planted? have it on bottom setting at moment but keep changing it to top for oxygenation is this needed or just stress fish out?

  • I just got a fluval u1 well it's been a week now on it's nitrogen cycle. I'm new to aquariums and didn't realise it's only a 1 stage filtaration. I have a 20 gallon but it's only about half full because I have it setup for red claw crabs. DO you think it's in adeqaute for my setup?

  • since you are only using half of tank it's OK, because U2 starts from 12 gallons. I have a 10 gallon tank, but messy fish inside, so I need it, but for you it can only proof difficult if you ever decide to fill the tank till up.

  • hey again, i added a video response to this vid. can you tell me if i set my filter right? thanks

  • you have a very nice set up! I would just add maybe a centimeter of water more, so that the top output of water will be covered with water - at least all open lines, where the foam is, must be in water for good circulation, hope you know what I mean :)

  • how exactly does this work? is it supposed to suck up the waste? i put it in the water but i dont know if its doing anything other than pushing water out of the bottom hole

  • it works very good, I still have my old filter inside so that the bacteria in the new one can mature, but I can see differences. The water is more clear and fishes love it, they go in front and swim in the water flow, created by the filter. I will put a video response on this later.

  • thanks for the reply! i left mine in the water overnight and it has definitely cleaned up most of the particles that was in the temporary tank, except for the stuff at the bottom.

it will work better if i have it fully submerged right?

  • yes it will work better for the bottom, but in that case if the top of the filter does not come at least 1cm out of the water, than you can not use it for the top flow and oxygenation.

  • which way is better in your opinion?

  • top output is for maximum circulation, but bottom output is for deep water agitation, so you can now decide what works better for you, or you set it to bottom flow and add air pump for oxygenation.

  • thanks for this. i just bought a fluval u3 and i wasn't too sure on how to put it together.
