The machine is called a Menzie - they were designed, quite strangely by the dutch for trenching work on mountains (strange 'cause Holland is completely flat). Really strange to drive but you can dig a trench quite easily on a batter that is steeper than a 1:1. The don't always have the rear trail wheels on; just the retracting pads to pull themselves along.
