I like the live versions of this song much better, but the sound (except stomping cleats) is probably better here. I didn't like this song at first, but the live versions changed my mind. Polly Harvey is a genius, and here is part of the evidence.

I agree that the live version is better and is the reason I actually like the album version.
You know you're good when your live stuff outshines your recordings. Some artist can't perform without digital enhancements.
