I hated the Monkees growing up but even I thought this was a bad idea. Just because I don't like remakes or re-imagines that much. I'm a Monkees fan now (Have all thier albums) and was curious about this group. The fact is, these guys didn't have a chance. There's talent there but noone will ever look at it because they just see four guys "pretending" to be the Monkees. And the show should've went another direction than trying to emulate the comedy of the 60's show.
That tour "commercial" at the beginning was really clever. Reminds me of the early "Family Guy" episode where the guy comes out to introduce the Pope and says, "ARE YOU READY TO HUMBLE... YOURSELF BEFORE GOD?!"
ahhhh...you must have been one of the new monkees...sorry i hit a nerve...believe me, if i had wanted any of the monkees to suck my dick, it would have been one of the original monkees...certainly not one of the "new monkees"...it was over before it even started...let it go...
Unfortunately, I'm not one of them, but I've posted video clips that some people wanted to see. It's cool if you don't like my postings, so why don't you go find a Youtube channel that has Monkees clips on it and ask them how you could go about having your dick sucked by one of the Monkees.
Gee ... this comment coming from someone whose favorite Youtube videos areThe Secret Life Of a Manic Depressive and a video exploiting a guy that may be Autistic or have Asperger's. Yeah, Kathy,.... YOU know funny.
Techinically, Headquarters did not chart as high in the long scheme of things in comparison to the other Monkees albums. It peaked high at first and then dropped. Justus was the soundtrack to the 1997 Monkees TV special and was produced by Mike Nesmith.
decay1966 - who of which I believe is Dino. I have to say that I enjoyed the New Monkees TV Show and CD very much. Thanks for posting the videos!
In my opinon, the guys in general were very cool, liked em' a lot, the album was very good 4 the most part though I really think the weakest links were the fact that the band was named after an already existent very popular product and the writing of the show was an attempt to recreate the same machine though 80's style, bad idea & very bad writing though certainly not a dig against the guys as hey like all us artists they certainly put there best foot 4ward and gave us a cool year of memories!
You are right, that is neat! I'm glad they did that.
The orginial Monkees could all their play instruments too... and after a fight with their producer, the obtained the freedom to do so on the show and on future albums. Mike Nezsmith and Peter Tork were especially talented!
I do appreciate you uploading these on here, and I think I'll try to watch it again and give them a shot :)
LOL! I remember watching this one - it was hilarious!
I had every single one of the eps on videotape except for one...I need to find those tapes. I hope they weren't the ones that got destroyed from water in the basement.
This was my favorite episodes. Pope GeorgeRingo...lol. The expression on Dinos face when they all say "No" cracks me up still. These guys were just having fun and it shows. I also loved the bit with Boom Boom Mancini...The Pookie...LOL.
I know!! The acting is almost as bad as those people that video record themselves talking into their cameras, isn't it!?! And that Hair,...what's up with that?! They probably got their styles from some some Barbie doll!!! In regards to your cancer,... I have a dull knife and lighter :)
the voice sounds like the actor that played Martin Crane but, looking closely at the face, it's not-this is like how Mike's son,Jason Nesmith, auditioned for the show but, didn't make the cut
Sure, the Pope could probably fill a stadium, but he's never going to crack the Hot 100.

Wouldn't this have worked better had it not been called "The New Monkees?" That just inspires comparisons to something everybody loves.
Maybe with a different name, people would have gone in without any preconceived notions and been more open to giving it a chance?

Wow, this would never fly today. References to the Pope? That's a big no-no unless it's TVPG or higher.

The show was fun and original. The music kicked serious ass and it still does.

No one cares about someone who stole the Monkees name. Check out Headquarters and Justus if you think the original guys couldn't play.

Actually, Headquarters charted at #1 for one week, then went 1-2 with Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band for 12 weeks.

But as a musician yourself, you have to admit that it was cool that at least these guys could play their instruments on this particular show.
