@TheIllegalKind They reunited back in 2008 with its original lineup. The fact is bassist Bob Thomson stated,"I can 100% guarantee there will be no tour, we're all dads with jobs. It is not easy to co ordinate shows as Frank lives in Indiana, so the best we can hope for is a show here and there." This led many to believe that Big Drill Car could be ending their reunion. In 2009, they released a rarities album "A Never Ending Endeavor". Although it has 15 songs rerecorded, the first 5 are all new
Absolutely loved this band.. saw them seems like hundreds of times around LA and OC back in the day. Each time ended up soaked and shirtless. At one gig at Bogarts in Long Beach some giant Samoan guy dove off the stage and squashed me. It was wonderful! The biggest show I ever saw was the Cruz show at the Palace with All.. I missed the reunion in '08, please do it again!
@jkthemod yep, me too, tons of times but in NoCal, they were great at the Berkeley Square, I still remember that show. CALIFORNIA SUMMER ROCK AND ROLL that is what this song is :D
seen 'em plenty...and they were GOOD, killer singles and insane covers (Cheap Trick,Bowie,Buzzcocks,Billy Joel,Devo) great live presentations (saw 'em in Hollywood and everyone of them was in the air ('cept for Danny) most of the show) and all around really nice guys. The world "grunged" it up and worshipped the Seattle bands, but BDC were bringing it right down the street (Placentia?) and got overlooked. Gone(?) but not forgotten... pop/punk genius.
This song came out in '89 so sorry plutonium9 it pre-dates Pearl Jam or most Soundgarden. As for grunge influence it's pop-punk, hardly grunge, check out Mudhoney for one of the original "grunge" bands.
oh yeah, the old days, I saw these guys at the seventh street entry in Minneapolis in 1990, fucking blew me away, before all the bullshit music on today, groundbraking in a sense

Yes! Reminds me of the heyday of my snowboarding career! (not saying I was paid to do it or anything like that though, it's just what I did)

That's the BDC I Know.

I love the song but kill the volume and the video looks like a Pearl Jam or Sound Garden MTV vid. Lots of early 90s grunge influence.

Saw them open for All in Norwalk, Ct in 1991. Best "opening" band I ever saw. Blew away All that night.
