I don't understand why people don't like Akainu. Yeah, he is a dick for fucking up Whitebeard and being a general asshole, but as a villian of the show, that is his character. His absolute sense of justice realyy gives his character depth and coolness. He is going to prove to be a badass villain in later episodes.

The line between 'justice' and 'revenge' is a thin one, switching from one to another based on the feelings of the 'administer'. Akainu's wrath clearly puts him over the edge into 'revenge'. He's also perfectly willing to sacrifice the innocent to carry it out (like at Ohara).

Considering the evil the Marines are charged with protecting -- to wit, the World Government, which is little better than Nazi Germany (or maybe not any better at all!) -- the best I can say for any given Marine is he or she might not be irredeemably evil. As far as I'm concerned ALL One Piece Marines are either villains or ignorant of what they're protecting. Some (like Garp) are just more sympathetic villains.

To the people saying that Jozu vs Akainu would be good for the WB Pirates: 1st Oda himself stated in an SBS that all the commanders no matter what age or what division they command are all the same strength. Akainu took on all the commanders (except Jozu) and Crocodile at once and not only was completely unharmed he also took out a commander in one hit, and this was after getting slammed by WB. Therefore Akainu>Jozu by a large margin.

Guys need to remember that magma is molten rocks, not a type of flame; it does not matter which is hotter because dirt can smother fire and most definitely can magma.
I researched this and magma is at around 1200C, there are some fires that are hotter however these have a white flame.. why can't ace be all thypes of fire

@realeques Magma burns hotter than any normal fire and fire needs air to burn while magma is molten rock that can exist without air so it can smother a fire. This means it can cancel out Ace's abilities because he cannot shift into his Logia's form where it's element cannot exist. Cancelling out a Devil Fruit, Logia or otherwise, effectively renders the user mortal. This is not the first time in the series one Devil Fruit has negated another but it is the first time one has overpowered another.
@meikaina Fire can burn at insanely high temperatures (the sun) but only under certain conditions. The flames Ace can produce don't seem to be capable of reaching any temperatures beyond, say, a typical forest fire in intensity, which I regard as normal. My point is that Devil Fruits follow certain rules despite their absurdity i.e. Enel's electrical abilities were cancelled out by Luffy's rubber based abilities and effectively rendered him "human." This manner of logic applies here as well.
@meikaina While I think Oda was just going for dramatic effect there may be an explanation for that. The idea is that while Luffy's rubber body prevents him from being harmed by electricity directly due to the level of resistance rubber has against its flow (rubber is not a PERFECT insulator) it does still allow elctricity to flow to some extent given sufficient strength and the proper conditions are met. Again, I have to stress that I think that was simply done for dramatic effect.
@Shredow2 In this case the core is where Ace's body would be. And the heat generated by a fire can be quite high, but the point is that Akainu's magma snuffed out Ace's flames so it doesn't matter if the flames could've burnt hotter or not if they have no air to burn.
@Brutalyte616 That would be true if it weren't for the fact that it wasn't explained that way. The way it was explained in the manga was that aikanu's magma is hotter than aces fire. Which, as i pointed out, is scientificly incorrect. You can try and justify it all you want but in the end Oda made a BS science explanation....Shouldave just given akainu haki and be done with it. Wouldave made more sense.

It was a way to have Akainu say "My devil fruit is better than yours." while still sounding epic/poetic, but because of the way Oda wrote it it made it seem like Akainu's Logia element simply won because it burns hotter when in reality it simply snuffed out Ace's fire and made him vulnerable. The only real problem here is that in either scenario Ace should've still been able to resist the heat even without his intangibility.
@1337l33ch3r It's a possibility but it could not be proven at the current time. The idea is that Akainu snuffed out the fire at the core of Ace's Logia form and because of that he was able to land the attack unhindered.

To the people saying that Jozu vs Akainu would be good for the WB Pirates: 1st Oda himself stated in an SBS that all the commanders no matter what age or what division they command are all the same strength. Akainu took on all the commanders (except Jozu) and Crocodile at once and not only was completely unharmed he also took out a commander in one hit, and this was after getting slammed by WB. Therefore Akainu>Jozu by a large margin.

jozu vs aikanu
whitebeard vs sengoku and garp.
chances are that the whitebeards would have walked away victoriously.
Jozu vs aokiji was a bad match up, ace would be a better match.
marco was distracted by whitebeard getting injured and therefore lost to kizaru.

Akainu owned everyone and everything in the Whitebeard wars. I can't lie tho there was one pirate who got the best of him. Whitebeard. Only because he is the strongest Pirate. Now with Whitebeard gone Akainu might be the strongest one piece character. I'm amazed by his abilities. Kizaru is also beast. Add Aokiji and you have a undefeateable trio.

@realeques Magma burns hotter than any normal fire and fire needs air to burn while magma is molten rock that can exist without air so it can smother a fire. This means it can cancel out Ace's abilities because he cannot shift into his Logia's form where it's element cannot exist. Cancelling out a Devil Fruit, Logia or otherwise, effectively renders the user mortal. This is not the first time in the series one Devil Fruit has negated another but it is the first time one has overpowered another.

@meikaina Fire can burn at insanely high temperatures (the sun) but only under certain conditions. The flames Ace can produce don't seem to be capable of reaching any temperatures beyond, say, a typical forest fire in intensity, which I regard as normal. My point is that Devil Fruits follow certain rules despite their absurdity i.e. Enel's electrical abilities were cancelled out by Luffy's rubber based abilities and effectively rendered him "human." This manner of logic applies here as well.

@meikaina While I think Oda was just going for dramatic effect there may be an explanation for that. The idea is that while Luffy's rubber body prevents him from being harmed by electricity directly due to the level of resistance rubber has against its flow (rubber is not a PERFECT insulator) it does still allow elctricity to flow to some extent given sufficient strength and the proper conditions are met. Again, I have to stress that I think that was simply done for dramatic effect.

@Shredow2 In this case the core is where Ace's body would be. And the heat generated by a fire can be quite high, but the point is that Akainu's magma snuffed out Ace's flames so it doesn't matter if the flames could've burnt hotter or not if they have no air to burn.

Which, as i pointed out, is scientificly incorrect. You can try and justify it all you want but in the end Oda made a BS science explanation....Shouldave just given akainu haki and be done with it. Wouldave made more sense.

It was a way to have Akainu say "My devil fruit is better than yours." while still sounding epic/poetic, but because of the way Oda wrote it it made it seem like Akainu's Logia element simply won because it burns hotter when in reality it simply snuffed out Ace's fire and made him vulnerable. The only real problem here is that in either scenario Ace should've still been able to resist the heat even without his intangibility.
