Wow, a little blast from the past when I had my early childhood years in Mass. My family lived in Pembroke. That was up until 1966. BTW I never caught the accent. I remember Jordan Marsh and Filene's as well as trips to the A&W. We also went to Kingston sometimes.
LOVE the old-school 'Bawston' accent... I like how regional dept. store chains still made 'local' spots. I'm from New York, and 'Marshall's" commercials didn't sound like that!
Frank Avruch has done it all...Bozo the Clown, booth announcing for Channel 5, hosting for The Great Entertainment, involvement in a slew of other WCVB in-house programs, and commercials for local businesses which aired on 'CVB and his competing stations!
the same was in daverse the best buy there was a lechmere i remember going there with my dad when i was a kid and seeing a home theater section a few months before there demise ahh the good ole days
Lechmere and Jordan Marsh, I still miss those stores. Lechmere in Dedham. For you young Bay staters that didn't know, Best Buy in Dedham was originally a Lechmere store (and a Filene's Basement too if I remember right).
just great. thanks!

Lechmere was my first fulltime job.
I remember that Jordan Marsh model/babe when I was a teenager.
I wish I could find the Luis Tiant paint commercials.
Thanks for posting.

Wasn't the BJ's a Lechmere on one end and a Filene's Basement on the other in Dedham?

Correct, then it was only a filene's basement. Until it became BJs
Best Buy was new construction.

1) Bob Cousy in the Boston Globe ad from 1:25-1:55
2) I never knew Frank Avruch did Lechmere ads.
