I was in highschool with Randy, when over to his house and he played a fiddle I built. Then he pulled out some other fiddles and played em. Awesome talent
Randy was a good friend of mine, we had many jam sessions with him. He could also tear up a Guitar, acoustic or Electric, Mandolin, as well as singing too. He was awesome and I miss him.
randy howard was a true musical treasure. not only a genius, but a very sharing genius. same goes for the guitar player, bill lyell who taught a bunch of us how to properly play "texas style rhythm"....
He was s natural on any instrument he picked up, not just the fiddle. However, when that bow touched the strings of the fiddle, it was sheer Heaven on earth. He's been gone 9 long years now, but when I hear his music it is just as refreshing as it was listening to him
He wasn't just a terrific player, he was an extremely nice guy too. He was always willing to play together, hang out, and give advice if you asked for it.
