  • 2:12 VHS ftw!!!

  • @myR12006 I don't know what you mean. ?

  • @ianmacdon it's just a joke,i saw you VHS cassette on the counter : )

  • @myR12006 You are correct, we finally retired the VHS a few weeks ago, it is now relegated to the pile of stuff to be delivered to the next church fundraiser. We have hundreds of kids VHS videos , so they will all end up on ebay someday I guess.

    Ian

  • @ianmacdon no wait, i think you still don't get it, when you see something weird, rare or even cool like this VHS you say "that thing" ftw, i basically said is awesome to see the old good tape seating in there... cheers man

  • so is this the kdl55ex723 or?

  • @eerereps It is a KDL55EX710.....

    Ian

  • how much was it?

  • @MarcTheStar94 I got it on sale locally for 1500. CDN

  • Did you seriously post a video of a TV without ever mentioning the model number? Smart.

  • @trenken Oh oh...yes, you are right, go check the video again, I put it up on an annotation...very dumb of me...darn... thanks for noticing !!

  • @ianmacdon Thanks. Yeah doesnt help much to do a review of a TV without the model number. There's so many different kinds of Bravias that look very similar to each other. Nice set though. I was looking at the KDL55NX720 but I dont know what the difference is between these 2.

  • @trenken A lot of times, the TV's are identical, and the model number is store specific...for example, a TV at Future shop will have a different model than one at best buy....or sears etc...thats how they negotiate prices, then someone can't price match...but the tv is identical. That is what I was told. I think you can google " how to interpret a model number on a tv .."

  • @ianmacdon Yeah Im not sure. That TV you have is listed as that model # everywhere, even on shop.sony.com. The model I mentioned is actually a different TV with slight differences, hence why it's a different model #, I just dont know what those differences are.

  • @trenken Good question, wish I was more help, the only suggestion is to compare the 2 models at the future shop site, or even the sonystyle site. Have a good one. It is an awesome tv regardless....one year old, looks like new, beautiful picture.

  • This is just what I want a 55" 3D. I'm getting the EX720 model.

  • @Munecoshh1 You will be very pleased, they are fantastic !! I have a new video coming out next week....I bought a 40 inch 240hz 3D Sony...awesome..review pending !

    Ian

  • Dude...your wife sucks......Lol

  • @Kennetik24 I had to watch the video again to see why you made that comment, but I presume it is related to the headphone...yes, she likes a very quiet house, but good news, I am retiring soon, and will be able to crank it up as soon as she goes out the door to work. I have to get a nice surround sound system for it..

    Thanks :

    Ian

  • @ianmacdon Lol yea, I was only joking around. Being silly. Hope you didn't get offended or angry. Just my dark sense of humor. But AWESOME fuckin TV bro! Simply fantastic.

  • This is truly an amazing HDTV, I really love how thin and sleek it is. Awesome stuff and thank you for doing this review!

  • I like ur head set, what brand is that and what model?

  • @bhadz1723 NexTech Model 3319666 , I have 3 sets of them here...they are pretty good. I also have a sony set now too.

    Ian

  • You should get component cables for the Wii, you can output progressive video that way. The difference is huge.

  • @Lemon77UG where do you hook them up to the wii ?

    Ian

  • @ianmacdon: It's a proprietary cable, same input on the back of the Wii as composite. Search "wii component cable" on amazon. Get one of the cheaper ones, they work just as well as the official cable which now costs 2.5x the price I paid for it. You then need to go into the Wii settings and change the output to 480p 16:9 (progressive). When I did this even on my old 26" HDTV the difference was very noticeable. It's not HD of course, but same sort of quality only in lower resolution.

  • @Lemon77UG THANKS...I just ordered one on eBay, only 8 dollars including shipping...now I can't wait...we have been using the standard cable, and I often wondered why it was not the right size picture on the big led tv.

Can't wait to set it up..

    Ian

  • @ianmacdon: Tell me how it goes. Need any more help just ask. :)

  • Hi, what is the model number to this tv?

  • nvm i found it

  • i tryed playing ps3 in 3d with some games with souround ... is the best tv ever in the world thank god i have this tv

  • @MegaPredator04 plz tell me the 3d is not as bad...i just ordered it, im waiting for the delivery.. i read about very poor 3d quality on different reviews..... but some says its ok...so plz tell me in a few words how is it?

  • @Kele0815 This tv is not 3D , so I can't say one way or another. There is one on display at Futureshop and I had a chance to watch it, and even on 2D , it upconverts it to look like 3d, and it was pretty real looking. You have to wear the active glasses, but that is no big deal. Let us know here how it turns out.

    Thanks :

    Ian

  • @ianmacdon Many thanx for ur answer! Im sorry, its my mistake, i thought this is the 55ex723... i was mistaken...but thanx again!

  • hows the sound ive had a 720p lcd samsung for about 5 1/2 years and now iam having problems with the sound not working

  • @dropem555 The sound , like all big screen tvs is poor, because they expect you to plug it into an amP...I use headphones on mine, but the tv overall is awesome !!

    Ian

  • what model is this

  • @plutocanhack Humm...good question....hang on a sec...ok, its a KDL-55EX710 , Beautiful TV.. awesome picture.

    Thanks for asking

    Ian

  • 55inch ? looks kind of small ??

  • @22NiggaPlease Yes, it looks small , but remember it is measured diagonally, and the picture is beautiful.

    Ian

  • do you know how to change the the default 360p on youtube to 1080p (with the sony led t.v.? cause my 55' led t.v plays youtube vids on 360p and i can't figure out a way to change the picture quailty.

  • @SupaChhimyChhim Ouch,, that is a hard question, and I have no idea, I hope someone can help us out with this one..thanks for asking.

    Ian

  • i have this LED TV. It Is Amazing . I Play My PS3 On It And It Does The Job .

  • Would u plz give me the steps of how to make a wired connection(with modem) to internet with my sony braviaCX520 46" lcd tv.

  • @anujsharmaofficial Personally I have no idea, I hope someone responds !!

  • what the heck sony is spelled wrong

  • How to connect the USB Cable? I connected it to my phone bu cannot.

  • @milodaman2 which store?!?!?

  • Thanks for this review. My family is considering upgrading to an LED TV, and this is on the "consideration" list. Any Problems with this TV at this time?

  • @rhodesjazz The TV is awesome, I have had it for almost a year now, and it seems to get better all the time ( that makes no sense ) but the quailty is amazing.

However, I am now planning on buying another one, this time a 3D led Tv. The prices are coming down so fast that what I paid for this one, I could get it again with the 3D option. My 55 inch regular will go to the rec-room, and I am planning on a 60 inch something ( not sure yet ) probably Sony , for the living room.

    Thanks ..

    Ian

  • @ianmacdon You should've done the blackfriday deals at electronic shops. I walked in late and got a 3D 55" Sony Bravia for $1099. Quite a steal!

  • @ianmacdon thanks for your reply .,but my tv has only vga and hdmi port .so can i use vga to dvi adaptor(will it help).or dvi to hdmi cable..tnxx again :)

  • @sonuviraj vga to dvi will do nothing to improve the video quality, I am not sure of any such adaptor which changes dvi to hdmi ? Actually I just checked tigerdirect and they have those adaptors. Let me know how it turns out.

I can't post the link here, but punch in tigerdirect into google, then search hdmi to dvi.

    Ian

  • @ianmacdon thanks ian again..i searched tigerdirect and they only have dvi to vga adaptor not the dvi to hdmi..i will try the dvi to vga and hope it helps but i know vga dont gives digital signal while dvi allows,,,actually i'm pretty confused .lol. let me google about this topic..and thanks again.

  • @sonuviraj I just checked tigerdirect again, and I can't post any links here, they won't post, but I went to the search box on tigeridrect and punched in dvi to hdmi . check it again, but the vga is not going to be a good quality as the hdmi. I am sure you can get the adapter, even at best buy or future shop, or radio shack. Good luck.

  • @ianmacdon yep i got that adaptor.thanks..and sorry for making u confused.lol but thanks ian \\o//.

  • @sonuviraj Great, I think this is the part number, just enter it in the search box at the top . C184-40367

    Have a good one.

    Ian

  • @ianmacdon i ordered...hope it works..thanks ian for helping me short out this confusion and have a great day.^_________^

  • i have a 22 inch lcd tv and it supports 1080p .i use it for pc and ps3..can anyone tell me is it full HD or not.plsss. and one more thing i use vga cable to connect my pc but picture is not clear .my graphic card has dvi port.so if i use vga to dvi adapter will that make any difference.

    tnx +_+

  • @sonuviraj The ps3 is hd, but when you use a regular vga cable the picture is not as clear. I know this from experience, I was running my computer at work through a regular vga cable to the monitor, but when i put on a dvi cable to the dvi input on the monitor, the difference wqas like night and day. I couldn't believe it. Get the dvi cable, you will see a huge difference.

    Ian

  • Does anyone know if this tv will play files from hard drives in NTFS or do they have to be formated to FAT32

  • i want one

  • @banuelosEIGHTY7 If you wait another month, it might be another 500 cheaper, they are dropping prices like flies.

    Ian

  • is the inthernet connection speed limited on the TV? 10/100/1000??

  • @toler234 thats a good question, and I have no idea, but I do run netflix directly into it from the cisco wireless router, ( using a wired connection ) and I have no problem with either netflix, or sony's own movie station was called qriocity.. ..even youtube works great. I love it

    Ian

  • For netflix quality : Remember that you configure the quality in your account. Netflix servers will then serve what you configured. Check account settings.

  • I also bought this TV a few weeks ago. EXTREMELY happy so far! Was a bit sceptic to Edge LED when it comes to local dimming, but I haven't seen any issues so far. Netflix works like a blast. Only drawback is all the useless widgets and the web browser, but I never use them.

  • Hey ive heard Edge LED has problems with light uniformity meaning on the edges you see grayer blacks because of the light whereas towards the middle its fine. Do you have these problems?

  • @DavieeShoTzz There are no problems like you describe , the picture is beautiful...I was ( am ) very surprised at how good the picture is..

    Thanks for commenting.

    Ian

  • @ianmacdon i have a small doubt..i am going to buy sony KDL-55EX720 but i need to know...when we use some low quality video sources such as normal dvd, mpeg quality tv channels, normal 240p youtube videos..how would be the picture quality?..is it noticeable or quality is fine?...since its 55" huge screen i need to make sure this..pls help me

  • @ketheeskanth I am still very impressed with the quality of the video from all sources, I have a blu-rsay DVD, and I also subscribe to netflix, and we also watch youtube on it, and some sony qriocity videos. I even play some dvd's from friends who make movies for me which were down;loaded from the torrents....I have to say the video is great, in all modes, it looks as good as hi-def.

However, this tv is a year old now, so , whatever is out there now is probably better. good luck.

  • @ianmacdon i hope this one too will be same as yours..thanks for your valuable information

  • @ketheeskanth I think you will be extremely impressed....please let me know how it turns out, even better , make a video and post it alongside mine....with point or counterpoint...thanks :

    Ian

  • Respond to this video.

    ..

  • Ian, it does indeed work in HD for regular programing....it's just the Netflix it seems...I just don't get why it would work one day for Netflix and then disappear the following. I still can't figure it out. I sent Netflix several messages about the poor quality of the programing. I guess I'll wait to see what they say.

  • @up2groove It has to be related to the bandwidth issue which is a hot topic everywhere. They say Netflix is hogging a lot of bandwidth, and the CRTC ( I have no idea what they are called in the USA ) want to charge us , the customers for bandwidth, we have the option here , to select what kind of quality we can afford, but right now, there is no charge yet for hi def. I suspect there will be in the future. I should say, there is no charge here in Nova Scotia, but I think in Toronto, it costs.

  • Ian, I did reset and try it again, and that didn't work unfortunately. I went out and bought the cable, and now have it directly wired to my router. Supposedly what I read on either Netflix or Sony is that quality of the picture is dependent upon your network speed, and that Netflix or the TV will decide automatically the best quality they can stream me. I don't know why it's still not HD if I'm directly linked into the router now. I just don't get it.

  • @up2groove does the TV still work in HI DEF when watching regular hi def channels, or on a blu-ray ?

    Ian

  • Ian, Thanks for the info. I am in the USA (Hawaii). I couldn't find anything saying "manage video quality" in my account. I'm running my new Bravia off a wireless signal, and all the info. I read says that could be the problem...however, it wasn't a problem yesterday when things were still HD quality. My wireless signal is only like 5 feet from my TV. I don't get it, but it seems my quality has come and gone. Frustrating. Glad to hear that your picture is good and it's not a common problem.

  • @up2groove Try doing a google search on degraded netflix quality. I thought I was onto something with the new button we have here in Canada, I wonder if somehow the wireless signal is screwing up, I presume you did a reset...unplugged the modem for a minute or so....I wish yiou luck, but you may have luck searching google, thanks again:

    Ian

  • Hey, I've been trying to find info. on the net about why the HD on my Netflix just stopped working. I noticed that the picture coming from Netflix wasn't clear anymore when before, it was amazingly sharp. I thought it was just the selection, but I went back to a show I watched prior in HD and it wasn't HD anymore either. Any ideas as to why the HD on my netflix doesn't work?? I don't get it. I thought I was just over zoomed or something, but it's not that. All my netflix programs are just a blur

  • @up2groove Thanks for commenting, I haven't noticed this on my TV , but if you are in the USA, you may have had your bandwidth clipped. In Canada, we have an option, and I can't post any links here on these messages, but if you go to netflix, and click on your account, there is a new link there that says " Manage Video Quality " . Click on that link, and it allows you to select what quality of video you want. Good Better or best...if you have any success , let me know.

    Thanks :

    Ian

  • nice i got the 46 inch its awesome
