i think i could have liked jazz more if it included flats..without cigala closing the gaps (and of course josele at the background) i wouldn't enjoy it this much.but with him pulling the strings, jazz sounds very nice.
Get rid of the guy playin the horn! Sorry dude that did not mix well with the rest of the music..It was obvious the El Cigala and Josele were confused at moments because of the sour notes from the Wannabe Miles Davis guy.....Que vive el arte flamenco...Puro. Ole...
I think I agree with you. It just doesn't mix well. I'm not sure why flamenco artists think they have to try and "mainsteam" their art this way.
A few years ago Paco de Lucia was touring with a flautist. I wanted to run up there and escort the guy off stage. He just ruined the duende and it was like oil and water!
parently your not a musician or a very trained aficionado, artist have to expand, and if i see the sign correctly its a jazz festival, that cigala and company were probably invited to attend, that being said keep listening my friend
I dunno dude, I love this track and I come from the "pureta" side of things. I mean, you can't always listen 2 the same style and arrangement in every single CD otherwise you end up hollywoodifying music, in the sense that u watch a hwood movie and see the same car chase, same moral speech, same punches, same fight, same ole conflict bla bla bla. I mean, I think it's good we have new sounds which in any case are distinctly flamenco, as the trumpet is a quintessentially spanish instrument too.
You have a right not to like jazz, Y2H. Jazz is my least favorite except for Dixieland. Love opera, classical, blues, bluegrass, Latin, folk, and a lot of music from the late 60's and 70's. Flamenco is a revival for me. I began with the likes of Manitas de Plata, Juan Serrano, et al, in the 60's. It was cante jondo with the right voice that mesmirized me. We are blessed with YouTube and all who contribute.
Good. Except I define only 2 genres as "classy not-crap" music: Flamenco and Classical. And the me a classical.Flamenco artist who does any other genres is just decreasing in level of art.
Two rather different genres, Y2. I have a friend who has been into classical piano most of his life and teaches it. There IS no other music. He hates flamenco. I usually don't care for flamenco with orchestra. So, we all differ.
Different points of view, Y2. Millions of them. It's all quite subjective when it comes to aesthetics. Your viewpoint is just as valid as another's. It's what makes people fascinating. --O'Ross
Mmm, so you don't like Tomatito's latest work? And what about Paco de Lucia? He has some great influences which come from the world of jazz my friend.. Chopin?
Oh, and btw JAZZ = ART!!! It's CREATING in time and space that defines art, not your closed minded opinion about flamenco and classical music..
I don't really understand your point soleamania. I am giving you the defenition of art (the skill to create and the power to bring people pleasure), I'm not pointing out elements that aren't. If you don't agree with this you're redefining it. Flamenco = Art.. Jazz = Art. Why? Because (most of the time anyway) jazz and flamenco artists create something beautifull that gives people pleasure and even may touch their very soul (like el Cigala does with me, but also Herbie Hancock and Miles)!
i said "I" could like jazz more if it included flats.did i make any comment(either positive or negative) on it or did i claim that it isn't art? NO!!! then how dare u come and say it s art regardless of my "closed minded" opinion on it?what is this now?do u think ur comment is normal?can u explain why u felt the need to explain what art means or that jazz is art and i'm closed minded.u'd better read first when u type sth,u open-minded!let's stop this stupid conversation,it's totally non-sense.
My dear friend Soleamania, first of all, the first comment I posted was a reaction on what Y2H had to say about jazz and art: ''Except I define only 2 genres as art...'' plaese read it! Cause I (with my ''open-minded opinion'') think that's a closed minded opinion about what art is!
Then you came around talking about defining art or something.
Please, my only point is: Artists in jazz, flamenco CREATE and make certain people FEEL great, so it's by defenition an ART! Eso es todo, hasta luego!
hole hole cigala pero ,si tecoje el duquende yte esplota un deber con una sivida de esas que ace er ole ole el famencooo poro el mejor del mu de que tenemos aora el el juan dquende
