  • im sorry sir, but you got SMACKED by mr. kasiurak, a clearly smarter, better, and sexier opponent. good try and good luck next time!

  • @brewersmaniac04 oh I disagree on one of those

  • @GreenCastleBlock really you didnt fantasize about him when you played him?

  • What program are you using?

  • fix the sound!

  • good game, unlucky. very nice commentary

  • I cant believe you didnt play perfectly against a guy only over 2050!!! lol nice game

  • The fact that you can actually see those lines that far is quite impressive. I suppose you did say that it was a game with plenty of time on the clock.

  • Really great video! I loved it. Would love for you to cover more games of yours. Congrats.

  • yeah! matt pullen! always a joy in the subscription page.

  • great to see another video of yours, interesting sicilian.

  • Thx for uploading! I'm getting slowly aware of the importance of pawns and pawn structures ... And it's very interesting how much someone with a rating of 2000 can see ahead ...

  • Hey Matt, good to see you back and thanks for sharing that game. Were you hoping to get back into the habit of posting, or does that depend on how much you get to play in the next little while?

  • @bigcat55404 Probably the latter

  • Nice to see you back. And great discussion of tactics as usual.

Being a 1.c4 player, I'm not very familiar with the Sicilian system, I'd like to check with you at around 3:00, after you just played ...d6, why can't this pawn be taken by the White's Bishop?

  • @ongyj I was showing a variation where I do not play ...d6 and allow Be3-c5 locking down the d6 square. Then I jump to the actual game, where I played ...d6 preventing Bc5.

  • yesss! finally a new video!

  • What program do you use to display these chess positions?

  • @LucidDreamTricks This is ChessBase 9

  • I enjoyed this video but the sound quality is very poor. It bothers me ears.

  • @cilraycil air conditioner

  • @GreenCastleBlock Oh. Well thanks for the video any ways. Best if luck on future tournaments.

  • I never thought I'd see you lose. I've watched your videos and you're a knowledgeable and sharp player.

  • @BleedItOut10 Was quite rusty. Also this is not by any means the first video I have posted of one of my losses. Pullin-Brock, Pullin-Perelshteyn, Pullin-Smarty, and several of my Live Blitz games come to mind actually.

  • @GreenCastleBlock I haven't seen those yet. All of the videos I've seen you in were wins. Glad to see you post the losses too.

  • @GreenCastleBlock From how u speak, you seems to be a very wise player, and its true. You shouldnt be too blaming on your mistake of not play Bg7

  • @enochdm My mistake was I was not looking deeply enough into the position during this game. That's how I missed his Nb5 move, missed I could meet it with ...Qxc2+, and missed the good move ...Bb7 several times. It was a 40/2 SD/1, there's no excuse for overlooking a move when you have that much time.

  • Nice video Matt, always good to see a new one from you in my subs box :) I was wondering, as an improving chess player I am concentrating mostly on endgames and tactics, trying to build pattern recognition. Positional understanding however still eludes me. What in your opinion would be the best way to go about addressing this weakness in my game?

  • @sugarcubist Try explaining (verbally or in writing) your reasoning behind making chess moves. If you can't do it, or if your explanations don't make sense to you later, you are probably not reasoning well enough during your games. Ideally your explanations should contain more abstract ideas than chess notation.

Read 'My System' if you haven't. It's full of abstract ideas. I read it in high school, then re-read it last year and I got a lot more out of it than I did the first time.

  • @GreenCastleBlock That is an excellent book. GG... I employ that opening as white myself. However, I have started playing d4 systems, and miss this opening dearly.

  • @GreenCastleBlock Single Best Advice Ever. Matt Pullin is awesome.
