  • My dad looks so much like Gordon that he's been mistaken for him dozens of times over the years. It breaks my heart to see them both looking so old. I love you dad. I love you Gordon. <3

  • well i dun care abt divorce I still think hes an attractive man, and if i saw him i probably woul introduce myself he still sounds attractive & i would go with him the song was good thanx Kimberly

  • One of the greatest song writers ever. Songs of today do not even compare to this man. He is humble and that is how a singer should be. Their fans are what is more important to a good singer. Being humble not arrogant makes a singer last long.

  • How brave. How touching. The truly great Gordon Lightfoot.

  • This year was the first time seeing him Live after listening to him for 40 years. I remember the FIRST time I heard this song as a little girl in Cheyenne, Wyoming in I was in the car with my mom. I loved it! I always wanted her turn the volume up when it came on. Tears just flowed when I heard him sing it live. Everyone was clapping & shouting. I gave him a standing ovation as well as about 2 others in the orchestra section & 1 in the balcony. He is a legend! I WAS GLAD I DID!

  • What a precious song, what a fantastic being!!!!!

  • for his age he sings amazing! I love this video. Thank you!

  • Wow!! considering all he's been through he does a very good live job singing!! Singing live isn't easy to begin with but with music like this the voice is right there in front! No hiding behind anything and he certainly doesn't.

It's even more amazing considering recording from the audience isn't exactly the best method for the best sound... all though this was a heck of a lot better than some i've heard.

    Keep on going Gordon !!

  • what is it with old this and old that?? Gordon Lightfoot is a talent! an artist, not a stripper! please, stop the age bull shit! I am still young, but i know enough to appreciate the man and his music! ahhhh the music, that never grows old.

  • I'm grateful to have the chance to see entertainers like Gordon a last time or two. These guys (and gals) have given their lives for our entertainment. Thank You Gord!

  • Still has it. Survivor.

  • It's not just age...he was very very sick for a while and almost died. He's on the road to recovery, but it's been a long road. And his illness had nothing to do with drugs...

    Love you Gordon!!!

  • okay...he can start over anytime he wants and still the audience would want more.

  • God Bless Gordon Lightfoot. I'm right behind him in age.

  • That's one bad ass old dude. I'll, you, we, might get there soon.

  • you betcha! And I doubt we will be doing what he is doing - not even close!

  • He's a tough dude too. He had a stroke and lost the use of much of his left hand. For awhile he had someone else play the guitar parts but he's now recovered enough that he's playing again. Amazing.

  • This isn't good quality because it's videotaped, his voice is starting to get weak because he's older now, and the audience can be heard clearly as the performance goes on.

I still like this far more than the recorded version. Recording is like giving songs plastic surgery. If it's not raw, it doesn't deserve to be called music.

    Go Gord.

  • reminds me of the love i let slip away once a fool always a fool

  • there is always tomorrow...

  • oh i love this performance plus the harmony from the audience.

  • I'm sorry but getting old sucks. What a horrible joke on mankind what happens to us.

  • love gordon

  • One of The BEST.. GO GORDON.

  • that was awsome, i wish i can see him live, but i don't think he performes outside North America, any body try to convince him to perform in EGYPT !! ... " i wish .. eh :) "

  • I'm gonna cry.

  • wow what a trooper ... hope i am half as active has that .. if i evan get therer :)

  • is he still alive

  • yes and still performing

  • man no matter what i do this song makes me cry and how old is he because this song is not like others because others gets old and his are amazing keep rockin out man

  • Me to "enter number two " gets me every time. The man has class.

  • makes me get a little misty too....

  • my goodness.. breaks my heart...who is he singing this beautiful song for.

  • He actually wrote this song about his divorce. If you look at the lyrics, they make a lot more sense in that context. He's singing about how he couldn't be what she expected of him, and vice versa. Absolutely fantastic song.

  • wow...ok, listening again...i can hear it now. thanks!

  • Man!!! well said.

  • @olsonc2002 He actually wanted to play around and not be married and that;s why he had the inspiration to make up a fantasy romance tune out of a breakup song. But with that said, the best songs come from real experiences and I love this tune too. Gordon was one of my early inspirations to write and play acoustic,,It use to be that there were tons of acoustic artists and nowadays it's just a new generation doing what they do..Sad but the best music has already been done...

  • good footage

  • i was here in houston at that concert when that was recorded!!

  • This song always make me cry it's so beautiful

  • I love this timeless song. Im trying to find a very early live video of this - prior to his illness. If you know of one, please let me know!

  • hey, incase you haven't seen it yet, there is a video from 1979 of Gordon performing this song live. it's pretty cool. peace.

  • gordon started out as a jazz pianist then a jingle writer then a hit writer

  • That sounds more like Barry Manilow's career that Gordon Lightfoot.

  • Gordon was pleased with this 18-yesr-old performing this song in 2004. He was in the audience to listen to

    KALAN PORTER

who did an amazing job with his deep rich voice!

  • Rawlinson, I KNOW just how you felt!

  • I love my wife too more than anything in the world....even though she ticked me off the same night of the Gordon Lightfoot concert we went to LOL (I recommend you see the legend love in concert...you never know when his last round may be....hopefully never)

  • Video is a little bit bouncy, but still very nice.Stop this at exactly 1:10.I love the expression on gordy's face, don't you? this has always been my favorite G.L. song. patybear

  • Damn our brothers ans sisters to the north put out some GREAT musicians! Candada Rocks...Love The USA!

  • Canada's troubadour. Thank's, and may God bless.

  • I am planning to see him in February, here in Ottawa,Canada

  • gordo you rock

  • i want to say that i love my wife for all time as well. Therese, I love you!!

  • i love my wife.....and i love her and i wish her well for all time. what a great song. for deb.

  • Ol Gordo is a king of ballads.

  • Hi all, I took this video in 2006 when he played at Harbour Station in Saint John, New Brunswick. He is an amazing singer and songwriter! It was such an amazing feeling to be there and watch him perform after overcoming all the health obstacles he faced! He didn't sit down once during the concert. It's too bad mainstream music these days is not as beautiful and heartfelt!

  • Top man, love this song gotta go now cos i just burst into tears.

  • Love always to this awsome singer / songweaver that mesmerized me as a teen. His hauntingly masculine voice will never be repeated.

  • my sister works in a clinic here in toronto, about 3 years ago gordon came to that clinic for some prostate check-up,he asked my sister if she knew who he was,(that's because my sister looks asian and probably does'nt know anything about canadian music legends),gordon may not still be aware of how big he is worldwide...my favorite musician...

  • awe gorden light foot you have always inspired me you are the greatest

  • This concert was on tv man, with professional video quality. But I like the fact that you took the time to tape it yourself and attend the show. Peace

  • Which network was it on? I get all the Canadian channels, but I somehow missed it! :(

  • This was about 5 years ago now, I think it was on CBC, right after the "shania" concert which was just her changing outfits every 5 seconds lol. But yea it was either CBC or CTV.

  • where was this concert at?

  • Gordon LightFoot is an immensly popluar, genuine singer/songwriter from Canada, who for many decades has been well known and popular in Canada in the USA. It's not too late though. Buy his records and experience what a quality singer songwriter brings to life. His hieight in Popularity was when I was a teenager. I'm 40 now an still listen to his timesless songs. The beauty of his songwriting is unmatched bye anyone. I would love to sit and have a beer with this legendary man.

  • I have the same feeling. It's too bad that the majority of music today is not as passionate.

  • Amen,brother--todays music is pure unadulterated SHIT--especially rap;oh, I meant Crap!!

  • Amazon is a great place to find his CD's. There's even one I found there called "Waiting on You" that's out of print. "Songbook" from Rhino Records website is great- it even has a book with comments he made about each song!

  • i love this song!!! we in the UK havent heard a lot of gordon which is a shame. in fact, the first time i heard this was on a tv show called Trigger happy. very good

  • I first heard this song at the end of the movie Wonderland about John Holmes - it gives me goosebumps

  • i was there for that. the lady in front of me was crying. she must not like this song.
