  • My wife and I were in Tuba City, AZ during her funeral. It's sad when children loose a parent especially a mom. Hope her kids grow up knowing their mom was a true American hero. My wife is Navajo and will be going to Air Force BMT next year.

  • Pulls at my heart...Great song and a fitting tribute.Too often our Native Americans are overlooked.

  • Beautiful tribute. Lori Piestewa will be remembered. The dog tag said it all, Lady Warrior Hopi US Army.

  • Indian Country Today: "Native peoples scored moral victory 4 years ago(in)renaming of Squaw Peak to Piestewa Peak. The strong leadership of Az Gov. Napolitano..made all the difference.Piestewa Peak is now a monument to the courage & pride of the young Hopi soldier, mother of 2 children, who made the ultimate sacrifice for her nation & country.. a victory not only for Native Americans who share and admire Piestewa's traditional values, but for all Americans who believe in duty, honor & sacrifice."

  • Bless you too, cherokeeangel. I appreciate the comment. thank you!

  • I first met the Piestewas when I performed this song for the Piestewa memorial Ceremony this past March. I met them again at a memorial committee luncheon. It's easy to see why Lori was the peaceful warrior that she was. I also met Lori's children there. Brandon was telling me about the Tae Kwon do he was learning! The Piestewas are always in my prayers.

  • ThnX

  • My husband enlisted in the USMC right before this war began. We were in Santa Fe during this time and prayed once it was annouced that Lori was MIA and cried when they found her. As a wife of a Marine I will make sure I tell my boys what a great hero Lori was... I never knew her but I cried as if she was a sister. My dad is a Vietnam vet and expresses his sympathy to Lori and her family.

  • saj,Thanks for commenting. I have so much respect for people like your husband and your father. Also for you.Support is needed for the troops, but also their families as well.Hats off to you. Thanks for helping to keep Lori's memory alive.Peace- Ray

  • CuteNewNewGirl/Briana, is your aunt Lori's mother? I have met Lori's parents and Lori's children also.

  • yes,My aunt is Lori's mother.

  • Yes, whitesnspursfan, I live only a few miles from the mountain. I see it each day when I step out into my backyard.I think of Lori when I see it. That was a part of the inspiration behind writing the song. The other part of course was Lori's story itself.

  • What a powerful loving tribute! Made me cry. Do you live near the mountain?

  • This video was very sad.......

  • O.K. fc, perhaps...

  • Just got the CD...I really like it! The Sheriff Joe song is really funny! You should make a video for that one too!

  • Not sure about the "wings",soccerfan,it's a still photo my son took of the mountain. Perhaps some lent dislodged in my scanner.

  • YW...I wish you could hear me playin' along to it on my banjo!

  • May creator be with your family Hopi Sister....

  • Hey fc,what about the "wings"?

  • A beautiful tribute. The song says it all.The images top it off well. Great job!

  • Thanks for the very nice words, string.

  • Like two wings!

  • Maybe her angel? yes, I see it. Maybe it's a movie shot?

  • Beautiful.I swear, on the 2nd picture of the mountain, you can see Lori's spirit appear over the mountain and then fly off into the horizon!! Beautiful singing, beautiful song, beautiful video!

  • Thanks for the info. Lori's spirit lives on!

  • That's what a true hero is... "Not trying to be special, but just trying to stay the course."--Even in the face of danger. What a wonderful tribute! God bless you Lori.

  • Yes, KimmiePo,the CD is called "Heritage", and is being sold on Ebay. THANKS!!

  • Thanks to all for the kind comments! It means alot to me! Lori was a special lady.Lori She didn't have to be in Iraq. Because of a shoulder injury, Piestewa had medical clearance to stay home, but chose to deploy.

  • Makes you cry. Captures the essence of Lori Ann Piestewa, and how her parents raised her to be the brave and unselfish person that she was. A moving tribute also to Jessica Lynch and the members of the 507 - Shoshana Johnson, Joe Hudson, Patrick Miller, etc. but especially to the fallen. They risked and gave their all, as all our soldiers have done, so that we can enjoy our freedom.

They are the real heroes of this country - they make it possible for all the others to be heroes...

  • Goosebumps! It doesn't matter on which side of the 'political fence' one sits, this tribute speaks to the specialness of Lori's walk through life. Thank you for sharing her gift of life through your gift of music!

  • I love your song and your tribute. Is there any way I can buy your CD?
