I am having alot of trouble with what i believe is called bunching...Some this is something to expect and just roll with it.. or others say that I should be working against it. Do you think that this is happening due to my hair texture. I would say im about a 3c.. So in some spots my hair is very silky...Is there anything that I can do to prevent this... I am worried that my locs are just gonna look crazy...not as cylindrical as i would like..
The bunching you are speaking of is part of the locking process. Your locs are not going to look crazy. You have to be patient with them and give them time to mature. You also must remember that locs are like fingerprints, they're all different from person to person. Never try to have "perfect locs". Let your locs do what they're going to do. The worst thing you can do is have locs with a perm mentality.
Hey Nyesha...just read your lastest blog....I am total agreement with you..I know exactly which video you are referring to as well as the (Braider), which is her specialty! BTW...your locs are absolutely gorgeous!!!
I would like to buy a hair dryer but don't know what type to get. My hair is almost as long as yours and it is very thick. I want to buy a bonnet hair dryer because it takes up less space but I am not sure if my hair will fit in the bonnet. I know I should probably buy the hard hat dryer. Want to know if your hair will fit in the bonnet style dryer?
I can fit my hair in the bonnet dryer, but I still prefer the hard hat dryer to be honest. I know they take up more space, but in the end they are more durable and a better buy for your money.
Nice video, though i don't believe that you HAVE to interlock to maintain neatness and to prevent them from unraveling. I palm-roll by using my own homemade gel and it stays in tact for weeks even after i wash my hair. I think it just depends on personal preference; i personally just can't invest more time than necessary to interlock it or use a tool like some people do, plus i'm not really that anal about keeping it neat. to each their own.
No, you don't HAVE to interlock to maintain neatness considering "neatness" is relative depending on the person. I'm glad that the palm rolling is working for you. The interlocking doesn't require any extra time for me, because I've mastered how to do it just as quickly as palm rolling by not using the tools that we both don't agree with :-)
Not at all. Interlocking is only a problem when using those tools to do it, which is why I do it by hand. It helps to maintain the thickness of each loc and keep them healthy.
your locs are beautiful. thanks for sharing your routines. i don't mean to nitpick, but you can't catch a cold or the flu by merely stepping into the cold outdoors with a damp scalp. you catch the cold and flu from a virus, not from cold air. however, if you are ALREADY sick, the chill of being outdoors with a wet head MAY further aggravate your overall health, but it won't cause a viral infection. and this is fact. peace!
Oh and as far as after u'v done the washing and everything, how soon after do u recommend re oiling ur scalp after that ? And /or even just doin' a scalp cleanse(after doin' so many oilings in between washings). I guess after doing so many oilings up until the next time u wash is what i'm tryna ask too. lol
Thanks so much for posting this. It has been very helpful. I do have a question about lint. What are your suggestions about the embedded lint problem that some people may have?
I heard that using black towels, black pillow cases, and covering your locs helps with not adding more lint to your hair. However, to deal with the lint that's already in your hair you'd probably have to pick it out with tweezers if washing it not enough.

how long does your hair need to be to interlock
marcus23332333 2 years ago
I would say your hair needs to be at least 2 inches to get a good interlock started

do you feel intelockin could make the lock thinner if you have fine hair?
