i have some stubbornly weak triceps. i have no access to a dip bar, i do a lot of bench and tried going light and heavy on the triceps. they just wont grow big, any secret exercises for them?
Yes, just go to my main channel page and download a copy of my FREE "Muscle Specialization Guide e-Book". This contains unique exercises to help bring up stubborn muscle groups. There is a full section in that e-book about tricep exercises as well.
Thanks a lot for your vids Lee. Every time i find it repetitive at the gym, I just watch some of your vids and get many great new exercises. Awesome motivation =)
@AndyHarglesis your a fatty, the only time you curl 80lbs is when you lift your arm up to drink soda, the only thing worse than being fat is being a fat liar. hahaha
I just started using cables for some of my bicep work about a week ago and have noticed a big difference between using them and dumbbells. I'm going to have to try this one definatly, it just makes too much sense. Thanks for the tips.
keep pumping lee. looking strong. will definitely try out the exercise in the vid. going past failure is awesome.
lately i just just normal conc curls or hammer curls and reverse negatives till i get tired then end my workout with a nice set of 21s with lower weights.
I have been working out hardcore (4 to 6 days a week) for over a year now, and I am amazed at things I have never seen or tried before. I am trying this tomorrow since its a bicep/back day'; thanks.
I started working out when I was 12 and I'm just as tall as anyone in my family. Bottom line your height is determined by genetics, not if you workout or not.
hey, a hint my dad once taught me, when curling, keep your wrists bent backwards, that way you focus the lift on your biceps and not on your forearms. to see what i mean, put your hand above the back of your elbow and bend your wrist back and forth and you'll feel your forearms relax when bent backwards
i don't like all these exercises for your biceps i just stick to the basic bicep curl against your leg it works great but it takes a very long time for your biceps to build
I was wondering do holding your stomach tight while your doing bicep curls make a big different from when you not holding your stomach in doing bicep curls if it do whats the difference ?
Just keep your overall form tight, but I wouldn't purposely try and suck in my gut when doing any exercise as it limits your breathing. I'll usually breath deep between reps.
When I work my biceps after I get done I dont feel the muscle soreness like how I do my other body parts I'm talking about in the gym or the day after why is that ?
i used to get that, i do 3 or maybe 4 exercises for my biceps now with little rest between sets and after i feel exhausted. just use good form, slow and controlled is the best way.
you'll get good tension at the top but you can't tell me the tension at the bottom is the same as the weight of a dumbbell. I could do cable bicep work all day but have to give the dumbbells a rest after ten minutes.
Lee, that's not bad! I will share an exercise I find useful for bulking up the biceps:
Take an adjustible pulley (The ones you do tricep pulldowns on), stick a one-hander on the cable, put about 1/3rd of your dumbell curl weight on, stand sideways with your arm straight out, palm facing upwards, and flex a bicep muscle. Keep your elbow in place.
Do 3 sets of ten of these at the end of a bicep workout, and you will that pump that you have been missing again!
haha i just thought his remark on the whole cable vs free weight thing was kinda stupid. dont get me wrong this looks like a good workout. but 20 lbs at the bottom of an extension is still guna weigh 20 lbs at the top. gravity is always constant lol
He means tension is constant, when doing them with dumbells, you can kinda rest the weight at the top of the motion, but with cables it still pulls it against your biceps. instead of a vertical plane, it's a combination of horizontal and vertical
i can rest cables at the top also. dont matter , resistance is just trying to simulate gravity. weights are weights.
its one thing if the resistance raised as you lifted higher i.e CHAINS on a bench press where the wieght is dead when the bar is at your chest and when you push up the chains come off the ground and adds more weight the higher you lift.
but over all Free Weights>Resistance alll day but you should do both.
I know, but although I prefer free weights, when the dumbbell is at the top o a bicep curl the bicep isn't being worked as hard is it? However on a cable curl it us constant force exactly the same at the top.
Yeah, but the difference between the cable and dumbell is that for the cable when you bring it to the top there is still tension, so your muscles arfe still working and not relaxing, with a dumbell when you bring it to the top you stop working it.
I am going to try that right now. What a great tip. I always had a tough time doing cable bicep curls like these. Glad I could see the exact positioning. 5 stars baby!!!
That is an excellent exercise. I am going to incorporate that into my work out today. I work out at home but that looks like a dandy exercise I could do with either my Bowflex or with my resistance bands. Thanks for the great information. I appreciate it!
The download instructions should have been sent to the e-mail address that was on your order form. If you don't see it, check your junk mail folder, it may be there.
