"Darkness on the edge of town" has a dinstinctive difference with "Born to run." That's lyrics. Lyrics of "Born to run" are more abstract, but lyrics of "Darkness" are more concrete and direct and easy to understand. So, by only lyrics of "Darkness", I am always impressed even without music. I think that's a major turning point for Bruce to write songs.
