  • ATTENTION COMPLAINERS! Log rolls are not needed for this. Seriously. Just learn a backbend. (log roll not needed) And the a kickover from the bridge position. (Log roll still not needed) Then put it together. All you need is a spotter that knows how to spot and can support your weight. (needed if you won't just man up and do it yourself)

    We never had that. Do a bridge with your feet close to the wall and then climb the wall and flip. Try touching the wall as little as you can,what i mean to say push more walk less. Good luck! :)

  • try doing a bridge with your feet facing toward a wall and then walk your feet up the wall until you can push yourself over. or you can try going into a bridge with your feet up on a couch or high cushion and pushing yourself off from there. sippydip has some good tutorials too :]

  • i actually taught myself, of course it took about a year but i got it. this didn't really help me. if you really wanna learn how to do a backwalkover/ kick over start practing on the wall and then on a couch. that how i learned and i'm doing them great!

  • hmmm i learned to do a back walkover by first walking my hands down a wall, to get comfortable with the bending and then using a wedge matt to fall back on to, then actually doing the full walk over. that roll thing seems like a lazy tool for someont who doesnt want to spot a gymnast.

  • hey i do calisthenics and i dnt mean to be rude or anything but when u do a bcakwards walkover to make is easier go backwards and when your half way bring you leg up so its like a sea saw its so much easier

  • if you start against a wall you learn how to do it correctly. Ive only been in gymnastics for about two months and I know how to do it good because of the wall.

  • If you have a trampoline, don't be scared to kick over, it took me like a week to get to were I could just lift up one leg without falling on my head but it didn't hurt because the trampoline caught me, now I can do a back walk over(:

  • Be careful not to throw your shoulders back unevenly. Make sure your body remains square throughout the entire handspring. Also it's key to keep your chin up just a tiny bit and to keep your arms up beside your ears.

  • i do gymnasics and its because they need to lossen there muscles otherwise they will have tight muscles.

  • Listen guitar girl, there's such a thing as muscle memory. These movements are done to get the girl familiar with the motion so that she can develop the rhythm of the movement. That way her muscles can remember the movement. It happens to be very helpful.

  • i know when i do it over the log i collapse cuz its like impossible to do it two legs but wit a spotter and one leg at a time i do it perfectly

  • Actually if you were listening the instructor mentioned that they were going to do a Back bend kick over near the end. And plus the video is meant to show progression, not the actual back walkover.

  • i cant do a walkover but i know have you can practice do a bridge with your feet touching a door then lift your leg up and place it on the door and kick off but get someone to help you get it over! :D hope it works for you

  • when i was learning how to do a back walkover i couldnt get it so my gymnastics teacher made me go into a back bend and just keep trying to kick her hand and i kept doing it over and over and she kept moving her hand back farther and farther till i finally got over.

    u should get a friend to do that for you just keep trying to kick their hand. sorry if it doesnt work for you it worked for me

  • when i learned i just did it on grass XD but if u can find a surface that is kinda leaned it helps. all i remember from learning is to kick one of ur legs and if u kick it far enough ur other leg follows along and u kick over :) im not sure if this will help though :P

  • i can't do it either so far, you need practise to develop the right muscles to get you over, i do bridge standing in front of a tree and then i put one leg on the tree which helps me flip over...

  • the log honestly doenst do much, but it helps you get the legist of what you're doing. when i was learning my backhandspring it helped me get over the fear of jumping backwards and knowing how hard i needed to push off..plus it made me aware each time of how to arch my back and stuff

  • lol, I agree with stunninbbegal ;) You really are suppose to keep your knees and ankles together when doing a bridge. It stretches better and it looks alot better, that also what the judges look for if you compete.

  • i dont think that logs ACTUALLY help that much, you would end up relying on the log for support, when really it is all in your back and shoulder muscels. Also, when they were doing their bridges, when stretching, you are ment to keep ankles and knees together, stretches so much better :) x

  • I just learned how to kick over and NOT because of this freakin video. Who has a log at home? You are just saying do a bridge. Go over a log. Do a back walkover! NOT HELPING!

    im in level 4 and i knew how to co a back hand spring in level 3.

  • thats not a bridge you have to keep your feet together ang keep your knees straight.

    if you want to know how to do a back tuck then go into your bridge and walk in little by little until you get to your hands then jump strieght up and tuck.

  • Yes, im swedish but I can try to explain. You have to get all your weigh on your sholders, then it will be much easer for you to kick over your legs one at the time. Try to practise with something, like a bench, under your feet at the beginning. Understand?
