  • you look like meekakitty

  • My Thanksgiving story is that I met this kid who is related to me named Kevin. wooo. I still can't figure out how he is related to me.

  • my few of Christmas: celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ who lived a perfect life so that He could die as the sacrifice for sin.

  • I really like Christmas but there are certain people who make me feel like I'm encroaching on their "territory" because I was raised Hindu. So I love to celebrate it, I love decorating the house, but I feel kinda...wrong...in doing so.

  • Tim Minchin!!!! He makes me proud to be Australian :)

  • I LOVE Tim minchin. And I'm Australian :)

  • I love your videos and so many other youtubers as well. When you started, was it awkward at all? I have a desire to get involved in this awesome community, but everytime I stick myself in front of my camera (my baby <3) I feel so awkward or that I don't have anything to say anyone would want to listen to. Do you plan things out ahead of time, or just go with the flow and do what you want for yourself?

P.S. I love that sweater, it is one of the best christmas sweaters I have seen in awhile :).

  • @EndlessRingOfLight Hey. I suggest you just wait awile with making video's and the ideas will come to you. It worked for me that way.

  • @Plottoberry Thank you for the tip! :)

  • I am behind on subscriptions (the usual), and saw you were posting everyday and was confused...but now the fog has been lifted =P can't wait for more holiday cheer from you =D

  • I've just started getting into Tim Minchin music because I've been listening to the Matilda soundtrack, and White Wine in the Sun is one of my favourites so far. :) So lovely.

  • I think I need your sweater.

  • @owlssayhooot ohhhh.my bad.twas just me then.

  • I live in Australia, and we do celebrate by having white wine in the sun :)

  • I'm looking forward to Christmas because I love getting to hang out with and have so much fun with the family. My grandad lives right on the beach so pretty much every Christmas evening all the cousins on that side of the family have a big game of cricket there (how I love a summer in December). I'm an Atheist (quite a few of the rest of the family are Atheist/Agnostic) but that's not what this time of the year is about - it's about family (including my pets) and everyone being together.

  • @owlssayhooot You said Tim Minchin "is very open about being an atheist," as if it is something other comedians/entertainers conceal, but countless comedians and actors openly tout their atheism. And as someone who enjoys Tim Minchin but also has been offended by some of the things he says, I don't think you are in the position to say that he poses his beliefs "not in a disrespectful way" if you are yourself an atheist as well. Obviously you can't be offended by an opinion with which you agree.

  • @juliaforyourthoughts I feel like you're just trying to find things to make an argument out of. I said it because I was setting up the song in which he talks about Atheism, but not in a "JESUS ISN'T REAL LOL" way, because loads of people get turned off by that subject in comedy. Don't look so far into things, haha.

  • @owlssayhooot I'm not "trying to find things to make an argument out of", I made a comment based on something you said and the fact that I know the content of the song, so you provided the subject of my argument. Believe it or not, I'm not so petty that I have to "look so far into things" to make a comment, and I'm not being argumentative just for the sake of doing so. Calm down.

  • @juliaforyourthoughts I was never not calm? I don't understand why you seem so angry about this. I was only kidding about the looking into things, because I just never think so far into everything I say down to the word. I was never looking for an argument to begin with and still don't see what you're trying to find things to get upset with me over...

  • Fackin' ginge.

  • @Sdotmouse99 ...k.

  • I'am looking forward to Christmas, cause I'm going to be in NYC and I am also Australia...not sure how winter will agree with me

  • Where did you get your jumper? I really want a Christmas jumper but I thought that it might make me look lame. Then I saw yours and now I want one.

  • Could you do a video about procrastination and how to overcome it?

  • @reinalauren11 I mean, there's nothing to say. I honestly don't understand procrastination and I like having free time. So I just...do assignments early. The sooner you do things, the sooner you can do what you actually want to do. It's not in my nature to procrastinate, so it's not something I fight against or anything xD Sorry.

  • Daily Kayley!!! Woo and it rhymes :)

  • your jumper..omg i LOVE IT

  • Personally, I'm excited for the Christmas season and not so much Christmas day. I used to love Christmas when I was younger. Because I lived in such close proximity to my other relatives they would all come over at one point during the day. But now, Christmas doesn't really feel all too special. I spend it with my family, but they're all watching TV or on the computer. But I do like getting people presents. It's my favorite part. Getting presents is nice too.

  • happy holidays lass, enjoy the roasted chestnuts. :D

  • I can only imagine how you acted during the holiday season when you were a child. ^_^ What I just said sounds kind of creepy hahaha. Sorey

  • Wow, these comments are ridiculous. Thanks for posting on my birthday Kayley. :)

My story about this Thanksgiving: We had a family gathering at my aunt's house. We had a big Thanksgiving lunch, with various pie desserts. I sat and talked to my aunts, uncles, and cousins. We watched football and figure skating on TV, and played games. I also played with my little 2nd cousins. Christmas will probably be similar. All my major holidays are like this.

  • to realize why we were all laughing. She went bright red and said "no! I didn't mean it like that!". I don't know which was worse, my grandma saying something dirty (wether she meant it to be or not), or her getting why we were all laughing

  • so of course we invited a few family members over for diner and a few people turned in to 19. We were all sitting in the living room, eating our diner when my sister (22) lifted up the plate to her face and started licking it. Everyone chuckled and made comments like " good meal? " when my grandma came in with "don't worry, your grandpa did that to me on our ehoneymoon". And of course, the youngest one there being 15, we burst out laughing. It took my grandma around 25 seconds to realize why we

  • Thanksgiving...so my cousin texted and said she was coming over for dinner. Dinner was done before she got here..i would not eat until she came i got yelled at for not eating and then i signed her cast. And then when she went home i wwent upstairs and spent the rest on the day watching your videos :)

  • My Thanksgiving was quite enjoyable. :) We had 16 people, all around one table, which happened to include my best friend and her parents! Her mom broke her arm back in September really badly and it hasn't healed yet, so my grandma invited them to have Thanksgiving with us! Which made me really happy, and made the whole afternoon/evening of eating, talking, and laughing that much better. <3 Happy late Thanksgiving!

  • I went to my aunt and uncle's house for thanksgiving and their dog kept barking at the pie sitting on the counter. And then the pie fell on the floor. :)

  • I LOVE TIM MINCHIN!! . . . just thought id mention this. :)

  • We made my nonmusical 18 year old cousin sing the Star Spangled Banner at the top of his lungs and my cousin and I discussed philosophy in Harry Potter, hipster trees, and kpop. It was fun.

  • *thinks about thanksgiving*

well... my cousin has acquired a very dorky mustache that makes him look like hercule poirot... does that count as a thanksgiving story?

  • @HonorKicksButt YUP.

  • @owlssayhooot yah love ur x-mas spirt :) i got in the x-mas spirt myself and a start buying bows and gift bags and gift boxes , tape and scissors and name tags and stickers.

  • @owlssayhooot all before December.

  • Shoulders.

  • @orbital151 Knees & toes?

  • 'White wine in the sun' is like my favorite Christmas song and i got really excited when you mentioned it. It totally sums up everything I feel too, and in a way that doesn't come off rude or whatever like people seem to think atheism is.

Anyway, that is probably the COOLEST jumper/sweater/ awesome shirt thing I have ever seen in my life WANTWANTWANTWANTWANTTTTT.

  • You've mentioned Tim Minchin! I really like you now.

  • Next year, my birthday falls on Thanksgiving. It will be, to be frank, kind of amazing.

  • Where On Earth did you get that Sweater/Pajamas that u were wearing?? i luv them/it!

  • YAY! a video everyday? NOT ITS OFFICIALLY CHRISTMAS!!

  • hey is that a tardis thingie in the background.(sry 4 goin off topic but it had 2 b asked)

  • @halfnoteclementines I don't know what you mean...but I have no TARDIS anything here, haha.

  • that is a FANTASTIC jumper :D

  • As soon as I saw you in your beautiful Christmas get up, I decided I was going to go listen to 'White wine in the sun' right after watching this video. Thank you for linking it, and thank you for continuing to provide me with humour, education, and inspiration throughout the year. Have an amazing Christmas :)

  • @xmirza57 Aw, thanks so much. I'm glad you liked it :)

  • Watch the video response, it's really good! Then watch 'bowtiestime' (same YouTuber) cover 'Blackbird' by The BeaTles with only five strings :)

  • Drinking game: Shot everytime the word Christmas is said.

  • @HogwartsGirl13 All month long. Consider this a challenge!

  • I am so excited for Christmas!!!!

  • I asked my mum what I should get my extended family for Christmas, and she suggested writing short stories for them. I've been procrastinating on this for a week at least now. I have about four to write, and so far I've planned one.

The thing I love most about Christmas is that I get to see family I usually don't see. My cousins are always off doing things; they're all at least 10 years older than me, so Peter's at uni and Sarah & Lizzie have jobs, so I never get to see them except at Christmas

  • @QueenOfTheAubergines That's an awesome idea! Good luck and happy holidays :)

  • I always forget just how much you love Christmas. To me, I don't find the actual day the best part; I think the run-up is even more fun!

  • Daily videos are really hard for the first couple of weeks, but then you get into a flow, so it's not bad. Good luck, and thanks for helping me get more into the Christmas mood!

  • I totally agree with his song too, I need to check out more of his videos! :)

  • I had two thanksgivings! One I cooked my self for me and my two little boys, their dad and his parents. Very fun and cozy. You can see a clip of it on my channel. And I got to see my family too. They had deep fried turkey and it was amazing. Also my mom is sick and I was happy to spend some holiday time with her.

  • ZOMG KayleeCommons I LOVE HER !! :DDDDD

  • Okay, okay, okay I know you hate comments like this but...where did you get that sweater?!? It is incredible.

  • Once upon a time, I had some deviled eggs. They were delicious. The end. This has been a Thanksgiving story.

  • @heyheypurple I liked it.

  • This year I am WAY excited for Christmas because my whole family will be together for the first time in 10 years =)

  • @serendipity4212 That's AMAZING! :D

  • you look pretty! and p.s. i really enjoy how sarcastic you are. especially when replying to the idiots that comment on your videos.

  • @loveinlife09 Hahahaha, thanks. I'm glad some people get my humour, because it gets lost on loads of people and they appreciate telling me how rude I am :P

  • (totally sarcastic)... well now i feel left out. don't celebrate christmas or thanksgiving...

  • @meu2002 You should try celebrating them! :) It's always fun celebrating something you don't normally take part in.

  • @owlssayhooot very true. i almost went to a thanksgiving dinner this year though the host got sick, but i was really looking forward to the new experience. christmas on the other hand i don't think i could do. i'm jewish and for my whole life been very proud of that. at my parents office christmas parties i would refuse to sit on santa's lap. i mean i partake in the christmas giving and spirit, but not celebrating christmas is something i really like about myself.

  • Your dress lets me miss my first girlfriend, so sad!

  • WWitS is a fantastic song. Love it.

    Good luck with the project!

  • P.S. You should check out Kate Miller-Heidke's version of 'White Wine in the Sun' :)

  • Totally wouldn't guess that people outside of Australia would know who Tim Minchin is <3 I'm Australian & I spend my Christmasses drinking white wine in the sun, totally :) Look forward to your daily videos!

  • Between these videos and Jingle Spells and the Christmas socks my mother sent to me in the mail, I think I might be getting into the Christmas spirit a LOT earlier than I usually do! I'm looking forward to the new videos. :D

  • I find it weird that I know of Kaylee through my best friend. Because he's best friend's with her. o_O And here you are promoting her. Life is strange.

  • such an epic sweater. Awesome video! Can't wait to see what you do with this project. :D

  • I love your sweater!!! It's so cute and dorky! (compliment)

  • I'm Irish so obviously I don't celebrate Thanksgiving. However, my sister has an American friend and this year a bunch of them got together and had Thanksgiving dinner. My sister brought along sticky toffee pudding but she didn't let me have any. The morning after I came downstairs and found that my sister had not washed the tray, so instead of breakfast, I just scraped it. That's the closest thing to a Thanksgiving experience I've ever had. And. I. Loved. It.

  • @EmmeyBob Hahaha, pretty accurate of how it actually is xD

  • Good luck with your quest. Haha. I'm glad that you'll be posting a lot more videos though. :-)

  • Oh God. Mention Tim Minchin in a video and the comments are filled with Jesus/Bible/God arguments.

Either was I love Tim Minchin and think you're awesome for mentioning him!

  • @redstrabrerreez They aren't filled! Just one person who thinks they know everything about everyone. They have been blocked because my comments section is not a place to attack those with other beliefs. :P I really don't understand what people get out of that. It's not as though I'm going to read those comments and think "oh, you're right, guess I'll change my whole belief system because you called me a hypocrite in a comment!" xD Thanks! Happy holidays!

  • @owlssayhooot No, you wouldn't do that, but people have every right to argue their beliefs and attempt to convince you. I think it was extremely rude of you to block the person, exponentially more rude than him stating his beliefs -- you FORCED him to stop stating his. Blocking people who aren't even insulting anyone should be considered a crime against freedom of speech, really. Being in positions of power turns people into assholes. Oh, look, don't agree wtih this person? BOOM, blocked. Done.

  • @aceandalsostuff If you read his comments, he was not just stating his beliefs. He was attacking others, being rude & this isn't the first time he's done that. I have every right to block anyone who I feel is being insulting to me or people who watch my videos. It's not a "position of power," either, anyone with a youtube account can block someone. My video was a) not the place to argue his beliefs on why Atheists suck and b) he didn't do it in a respectful manner. So, blocked.

  • good luck with this! I hope most of the videos are christmasy!

  • my thanksgiving story: i ordered pizza, and watched misfits. Don't you love the united kingdom?

  • I am excited for this. Christmas is my favorite :D

  • I'm Australian. My parents sent me a DVD of a Tim Minchin concert when I was on exchange over Christmas in the cold northern hemisphere. "White Wine in the Sun" was one of the last songs he played and I cried for joy. Especially the part about finding yourself 9000 miles from home. Because I knew my family were doing the Australian white wine in the sun thing.

  • Kaylee's gone insane...absurd undertaking indeed! xD

  • Very excited for Christmas! Now for the story: So my family met my cousins boyfriend for the first time on Thanksgiving and he seems like a great guy. However about an hour after we eat dinner he convinces another cousin, my aunt, my grandpa, and my dad to take some vodka shots with him. Hilarity ensued.

  • So thanksgiving this year my mom was sick and so I said I'd cook dinner. It was going good and then my mom decides she wants to cook so she goes in the kitchen and turns up the mashed potatoes which in turn begin to splatter everywhere burning my. Then she proceeds to scream at me for not being careful enough..*sigh* I want some stuffing:(

  • Just gotta add to the sweater love :)

  • It's adorable how much you love the hoidays. It makes me genuinely happy, so thank you!

  • @Kiranja Aw, yay! :D

  • I am excited for Christmas, and yep, I'm an atheist. Also, this persuaded me to cover a Christmas song, so I will send that and yeah.

  • I love your jumper! And you, you are cool :)

  • That sweater is epic. No joke.

  • Yay!! I love you Kayley!

This is going to be lovely.

  • what camcorder do you use?

  • This is exciting.

  • white wine in the sun is a very accurate description of the average australian christmas!! i love having a christmas song that doesn't involve snow!

  • Kayleyyyyyyyyyy, I'm so happyyyyyyy! I'm so excited that you're doing this! Your jumper is great. And you look really pretty today, btw. YAY for advent!

  • Hi, my name is Saya. That's important to this story. My stepsister has a two year old son who can be very shy around people he's not familiar with. They live in Bellingham, so I don't see them that often. However, for Thanksgiving, they came down to eat with my family. A week later, I received a phone call from my stepsister saying that her son wanted to talk to me, so they decided to call. Once the little boy was put on the phone, I said "Hi!" he immediately replied, "SHIA!" Cutest thing ever.

  • I will definitely make and send you something.

  • Yeah, makes me laugh just how hypocritical atheist are at this time of year, especially militant atheist. It's all the excuses they come up with (Christmas was actually pagan any way - erm, that's a religion to). I'd much prefer it if they said, well yeah I'm atheist i spend 11 months of the year slagging off Christianity, but do ya think I'm gonna let that make me miss out on the festive season?!

  • @zaftra Because Christmas doesn't have any secular aspects, right? Oh, wait. No.

Also, you're incredibly arrogant. Kayley is a functioning adult who can decide for herself what she believes.

  • @TheCowFreak Is there any reason you felt the need to be insulting? I don't believe I insulted her or her believes, and I certainly didn't you. Nobody said she couldn't decide for herself. I pointed out it likely to take a few years more. She may be a 'fully functioning adult' But 5 years ago she was a school girl. There's people into their old age can't make their mind up.

  • @TheCowFreak Also CHRISTmas, the clue is there. If you claim to be an atheist. You should have no part in the celebrations. To me that's a no brainier. You just can't cherry pick what you do and don't get involved in with religions. What you going o do, start looking around all the religions in the world and join in all the goodies?

  • @zaftra .....I celebrate and believe in SANTA not CHRIST. You can celebrate Christmas without it being about religion.

  • @netogrof if it was called santamas you would have a point. As it is, that's one of the silliest excuses I've seen an atheist come out with.

  • @zaftra There is no word for the celebrating of giving gifts/receiving gifts from Santa, hanging stocking, being together, ect. except Christmas. Which is completely different from believing in Jesus Christ' birth from the virgin Mary and how his is our 'savior'. They happen on the same day and have the same name but are completely different. That is just my opinion of course. Should I refer to it as Santamas from now on? LOL

  • @zaftra Christmas has become pretty non-Christian these days anyway. Just like Halloween, it's about the holiday rather than what it's celebrating. They're both pagan anyway, really.

  • @zaftra lololol seriously.

  • @zaftra People can cherrypick from whatever they want to. Freedom of religion and all that. In addition, Christmas has many secular, cultural aspects that have nothing to do with Christianity. It's not up to you or anyone else to decide who gets to celebrate those aspects.

And I was not insulting you, I was stating a fact. You're arguing that someone Kayley's age can't decide what they believe, which is not true. Age has nothing to do with it.

  • @TheCowFreak They can pick what they want to? Would that make you an hypocrite? As I said in an earlier post i love watching atheist come up with excuses. Actually, no, whatever there is now. Christmas is a Christian tradition, which replaced pagan festival. Secularism as nothing to do with it whatsoever, you are misguided here.

No, your being insulting. Judging by your home page you are a boy of 16 or so. Lets assume your an atheist. What have you based that atheism on?

  • @zaftra How am I a hypocrite? People can believe whatever they want to. You're not actually making any sense here.

And let's not assume I'm an atheist, because it's not true.

  • @TheCowFreak If an atheist does not believe in Christianity (especially those that attack the religion the rest of the year), yet joins in with the festivities, singing the carols (some even go to midnight mass) that come form that Christian festival. Then that's an hypocrite.

You claim not to be an atheist, your argument suggest you are. But are you a Christian?

  • @zaftra That's not being hypocritical. Joining in festivities does not imply an endorsement of the belief system. And again, although Christmas is a Christian holiday, it has significant secular and cultural aspects which are celebrated by many people who aren't Christian. Putting up a Christmas tree, singing non-religious Christmas songs, and writing letters to Santa Claus are not "Christian" activities.

And no, I'm not Christian either. :P

  • @TheCowFreak Dude, in all that you keep using the word CHRISTmas, you say it yourself, Christmas is a Christian holiday!!. Whatever secular associations it has now is not the roots on the festival now called Christmas, it was a pagan thing then Christianity took over it. What people have added since, especially in the last 2 centuries is totally irrelevant.

  • @zaftra It's not irrelevant to the people who celebrate it and enjoy those aspects. The holiday has whatever meaning people give to it. For some, that's religious. For others, it isn't.

  • @TheCowFreak But it's a Christian holiday, as you said. Anyway I'm goign to go now, It's late and i have a bowl of angel delight with my name writtian on it. Plus this is hijacking the hoot-girls post, best let someone else have a say!

I do genuinely hope you have a very nice time over the Christmas period, whatever you believe.

And i must say apart form one minor slip, it's good to see so many bright kids who reason with out resorting to insults and name calling. Reassuring.

  • @zaftra Merry Christmas to you too!

  • @zaftra I, as an athiest, do not attack Christianity, because I find a lot of good in the religion and its practices. This is like saying all Muslims blow themselves up. It's stereotyping and it's stupid.

  • @someone332 Didn't say ALL atheist did. But a lot do, particular militant atheists.

  • @zaftra Okay, in our culture at this day and age, Winter is a time for celebration. Jews celebrate Hanukkah, yet in Jewish culture, Hanukkah is one of the most superflous, unimportant holidays on the Jewish calendar. However, Winter has become a time for celebrations in all of our cultures. Christmas, basically, in the general population, is no longer a religious holiday. Christmas trees have no religious significance, Santa Claus lacks any real religious significance anymore.

  • @someone332 Christmas trees and Santa Claus never did. What your describing is the secularization and materialism of the season. You can't even get a religious Christmas card in most cards shops, look at you as if your stupid if you ask for one. People have new year for a damn fine party.

  • @zaftra I guess people just enjoy a celebration for whatever reason necessary. The holiday spirit is wonderful, though I do think Christians should be allowed to practice their religion in whatever way they wish, because the secularization of Christmas defies the holiday's original purpose. I'm an atheist, but I respect the beliefs of all (even if I may disagree with them).

  • @TheCowFreak I didn't say she COULDN'T make her mind up, I said she wasn't really OLD enough to be ANYTHING, this includes religious views. If she claimed she was a Christian, I'm pretty sure the atheist would claim she's been brainwashed by her parents/ upbringing/society and should make her own mind up.

  • @zaftra That's where you're wrong. By your logic, no one can claim to be Christian either until they're well in their twenties.

And you're assuming all atheists are exactly the same. This is also not true.

  • @TheCowFreak If you read my comment. That is exactly what I suggested. If someone has been born and bred a christian, and not considered any other possible beliefs, then those beliefs are indoctrine are they not? If they consider ALL possibilities and still remain Christians, then their belief has a totally solid foundation.

I never said all atheist where the same, if you read back i made a clear distinction about militant atheists.

  • @zaftra This isn't about whether or not someone's beliefs have a solid foundation, but whether or not they have them in the first place. Your original argument was that Kayley is too young to have beliefs and needs a few more years to think about what she really believes in. Sure, more time can give someone that solid foundation, but it is not needed to have that belief in the first place. People believe in irrational things all the time without putting much thought into it.

  • @TheCowFreak That is a very good point. But, ironically, it also sorta agrees with what i first stated.

What you seem to think is, it was atheist only, I said 'anything for that matter'.

If you don't have a solid foundation in your believes, your believes are weak and shallow - whatever that belief may be.

Anybody can claim to be anything from 13 - 20 or so. Some even believe Rap is good.

  • @zaftra I'm not old enough BE ANYTHING? Who the hell are you to tell me what I can and cannot be? Wow. The further I go down in these comments, the more blown away I am by how disrespectful you are to other human beings.

  • @TheCowFreak "Freedom of religion and all that".. Uhm.. except... they're atheists so... they aren't practicing a religion..? did you really just try to argue your point using THAT? lmao.

Truth of the matter is, these teenagers/young adults who are now deciding they're atheists were raised in a house that celebrated Christmas and, well, Christmas is fun. The holidays are nice. They don't want to give that up. They should just admit to it, for God's sake and quit making excuses.

  • @GrannyDances You do realize that freedom of religion includes the freedom to not participate in one, don't you?

And who's making excuses? Many atheists who celebrate Christmas do so for that very reason. The holidays are nice. What's your point?

  • @GrannyDances Atheists who celebrate Christmas, couldn't give a shit about Baby Jesus. They celebrate it for food, gifts and time with their families. There are how many people who celebrate Christmas who call themselves Religious and don't give a thought about Jesus. They put presents under a tree (Which originally was to protect them from the harsh winter) and have a meal together. Especially in places that don't have thanksgiving or similar holidays.

  • @zaftra Actually, I feel that these days it's not really about Christ anymore. I'm not really one to say, since I was raised Jewish, but I know many people who don't necessarily believe in God but celebrate for the fun of having your family around and being festive. Just because someone is an Atheist doesn't mean they can't celebrate the holidays of the religion they were raised as. As for age, I'm thirteen years old and I consider myself an Atheist. If you'd like me to

  • @theubiquitousgirl Your only 13? You write like someone of 30. What do you base your atheism on?

  • @zaftra Well, thank you, I guess. Essentially, I've always felt that God and the Bible were stories as opposed reality. To me, scientific theories about the creation of the world and evolution have always made more sense than the Bible's version, mainly because there is actual, physical proof of much of those theories. To be fair, I was never raised on a very religious background, so that could have affected my beliefs as well.

  • @theubi And this is what i mean, you take what fits your believes with out FULLY thinking it through. Firstly, as a science graduate, there is nothing in any discipline of science can confirm or falsify a God, not it's job never has been, people don't realize this. And there's been enough biblical archealogy to suggest to all but the extremist that Jesus did in fact exist. I must go, but you and family have your self a very nice time over the next month.

  • @zaftra Oh yes, there is evidence that Jesus was a real person. I believe that. I just don't believe that he was "the son of God", or that there is a god in general. You're right: Science doesn't prove or disprove that there is a god. What it does prove, for the most part, is theories like evolution. To me it doesn't make very much sense for there to be some sort of higher being who controls what happens in our world, so I just take what is given and seems the most logical in my opinion.

  • @theubiquitousgirl We can disprove the majority of the book that is false. Not all of it is. But most of the substantial claims can be dis-proven. But we can never disprove God, because a God could be the thing that led to the Big Bang. Believing in a God doesn't give you an answer it just takes the question back. "If everything can't come from nothing, If God created the Universe, who created God?"

  • @ActuallyLiam I can say that it does baffle me that everything in the universe seemed to work out so perfectly, but another confusing question for people who believe in God is this: Is God just our earths creator, or the whole universe? If, theoretically, the universe is endless, then there should be other worlds out there somewhere in space, so does the same God apply to those worlds, or just earth?

  • @theubiquitousgirl Okay it didn't work out perfectly. It took billions of years for everything to fall into place It would have been a trial and error type creation. That's why we have asteroids, which are rock that never correctly formed into planets. Why would we have these if God made it perfect. This doesn't dismiss your multiple creators theory. There are other Earth like worlds. There is a scientific principle known as the Godlilocks Zone and other discovered planets.

  • @ActuallyLiam Well, it's not exactly a theory since I don't really believe in a creator at all, but it's just a question I have for people who do believe in God. I'd like to hear their take on it.

  • @theubiquitousgirl there is no such thing as proof in science. There is confirming experimental data which adds to the weight of theories. At it's core evolution is just an inheritable mutation. Experiments on bacteria has shown this, but you start with a bacteria and finish with a bacteria. People find fossils and think, well that looks like that and that looks like that, therefore that evolve from that, ........

  • THAT part is by and large speculation. That's why evolution is still a theory. DOn;t get me wrong, it's the PROBABLE mechanism behind nature, but it's still technically a theory.

Nobody knows how DNA has become ENCODED. Molecules only have electromagnetic attraction, replicating DNA is much more complex than that.

Pre Cambrian explosion, where most of the floral and fauna exploded on the planet.

Why, some species, like stromatolites and acheabacteria remain unmoved by evolution etc

  • @zaftra Ah, but you could say the same about people who believe in God. They see people and they see a book and think, well this book has a pretty sensible explanation about how these people might have been created, and we can't really say it's not true, therefore it's probably the truth. But I feel like the purpose of this discussion was to show that people are capable of making choices of religion at whatever age if they've thought it through enough.

  • @zaftra And the one thing that I can't really use as an argument, since it's really just an opinion, is that it's just hard for me personally to believe in miracles and creation. I've probably already said this, but I believe the things that make the most sense to me. For some people, scientific theories seem like a better explanation, but for others the idea of a God makes more sense. It's really just about what you believe, and I think anyone can decide that for themselves, no matter what age.

  • @zaftra back it up or explain why I decided that, I gladly will. Is thirteen too young to have a Bat Mitzvah or a Confirmation? If not, then why should it be too young to decide things like that?

  • @zaftra What do you base your faith on? Evidence, blind faith or other?

  • @zaftra Jesus wasn't born in December, just so you know. The bible doesn't say when Jesus was born, but it does say that angels told the shepherds about his birth while they tended to their flock, which makes it impossible for it to be on the 25th December. It's far too cold at that time of year in Palestine.

  • @genericnerdyusername OK, thanks for your imput.

  • @zaftra Love yoooooooooooooooooooooou
