I was listening to this from another room, and honestly didn't realize it wasn't Nick Drake singing--you're totally amazing, and personally, although I like your version of "Parasite" and think the video you made for it is EXCELLENT, I truly LOVE how impeccably you arrange and perform what I consider your tributes to my other "rare, rare find," Nick Drake.

I agree to a certain extent that sometimes covers are better with a bit of originality, but especially in these cases where there are no footage of Nick playing his music I think it is great to be able to watch someone else play to such a high quality, I can play a fair few of Nick's songs but with only a few can I sing along and I cannot play them to such an excellent quality...

with you there. i too questioned the merits of these covers, but as a fan of Nick and a guitar player myself I'm intrigued by this. as you say, there is no footage of Nick playing, and though some covers are good there is always something awry with the tuning/picking/phrasing etc. people should stop getting so precious over Nick. he was a great musician and songwriter, but as this guy proves, no enigma.

What you're hearing on this one is mostly the EastWest SO which is probably the best value of the options out there...of course if you have the resources the full VSL is great but it's absurdly expensive.

It's not often that you find a good cover on youtube, but this, my friend, really is impressive. To maintain the rhythm of the finger-picking and the rhythm of the vocals, neither of which are straightforward, is some feat. It's a shame the Drake's version is not on here, but this is a big consolation. Top work.

Thanks again for all your positive comments.Yeah,this one was fairly labor intensive,not just picking out the correct notes but getting them to sound something like a bunch of humans playing in a room rather than me playing each part on my keyboard.The credit for the original arrangement actually goes to Robert Kirby,an old college friend of Nicks who did all the arrangements(except Riverman)for his albums

That's the huge advantage of technology today.

You can simply push a couple of buttons and you have the arrangement all in front of you.
