  • translation: up to 1370 kilometers (about 850 miles) on a full tank

  • Funny add. Germans make the best

  • Why is he drinking soapy water?

  • @caganb cos he's been driving so long (as the car has good range) that he's become so weak and thirsty that it's the first water he can get his hands on. Nobody should have to explain that. I don't know why I did...

  • @dunti21 Glad you did explain it because I didn't understand it. I didn't what TDI was, I was on youtube browsing car vids and found this.

    -

If this was a hybrid car then I would've understood the commercial. Didn't know diesel had great MPG, seems to be on par with some hybrids.

  • @barreltrollololol hmmm this is the problem with the world. Hybrids get so much hype, yet diesels give the same (if not sometimes better mpg) than hybrids, AND you get more torque and power than a hybrid, and you don't have to drive like a granny on sleeping tablets.... America should seriously get more diesels

  • @dunti21 "America is diesel country. People just don't know" (Dieter Zetsche, CEO Mercedes-Benz)

  • @leckmich0815a Yea, that's for trucks and stuff. Not family cars. I'm talking about normal cars.

  • hahaha awesome! VW kicks ass

@Mr THOMASLO : I would agree, opel is catching up though. consider the new astra or the insignia...they look way better and are doin way better in tests. i guess its just that opel has a bad reputation

  • tdi is the way to go

  • I do love this commercial. For years.

  • look at the face of the employee..... who can think of these commercials they are so clever....

  • I have a 2010 MKV Jetta TDI and when you drive it real nice it hands you dollar bills for an allowance.

  • "Berlin to Warsaw in one tank"

  • @toreto5000 are you a nazi? why warsaw?

  • @besian1987 it's a reference to top gear

  • VW just makes amazing commercials

  • For some reason, and I've tried this, TDI's go forever on an empty tank. When the gage says empty, and the computer says 0km left, you can go another 150km, (highway) well thats what I did until I pissed myself and filled it up.

  • @SuperleggeraVW

I don't have the balls to drive a TDI past 10 miles remaining and that's only on a route where I know I have the option of stopping early or later at a diesel pump.

  • opel is shit

  • @MrTHOMASLO you too

  • @MrTHOMASLO So is your opinion.

  • @MrTHOMASLO FUCK YOU OPEL IS NOT SHIT ASSOL

  • @MrTHOMASLO along with voltswagen lol

  • not diesel ftw, but TDI Clean Diesel Ftw.

  • You might note that the number of hybrids in Europe is negligible, while in recent years, the number of new diesels registered in countries like Austria are as high as 50 percent. Also note that the Japanese don't buy many hybrids. They do however buy plenty of Diesels. The reason? It's a tried and true design. "Clean diesel" is progressive, as the diesel cycle still must be refined to juice out every bit of efficiency. Hybrids are just masking the problem of inefficiency in gasoline engines.

  • lol, Japanese dont buy many hybrids?

    Check again.

  • Why not bring some numbers?

  • Yeah, but the Prius has a set of batteries that are financially crippling to replace.

If you do the numbers, the extra cost of the diesel, plus their fuel economy will typically make them a better value than a hybrid.

    Diesel ftw.

  • Wrong, the Prius batteries aren't expensive anymore, plus the price of the maintenance of a tdi is alot more then the Prius. Take the price of the water pump and timing belt and that alone kills the price when compared to a Prius.

  • But the prius looks like SHIT and sounds like SHIT. NEVER BE DRIVEN IN ONE!

  • @TheLundExpress i agree prius sucks

  • the prius is a piece of shit that makes 0-60 an eternity it makes it in like 10 seconds or somethin and it looks like crap inside and out, the jetta tdi goes way faster and if ur not satisfied u can tune it and make it better, i wanna see somebody racing their prius, tuned or not it is shit. and ive never heard of prius tuning, much less racing.

  • @electricfeel2012: Oi, mate, tuning a Prius would be just missing the main point of owning a hybrid - economy. People buy those, because they want to pay less and be as much 'eco' as it's possible. So tuning is no argument here.

    I'm just saying.

    - Honda Civic VII 1.7 CTDI owner.

  • @electricfeel2012 You do know that some people buy cars out of necessity and therefore try to pick one that will allow them to do the most out of the gasoline they put in?? Also some people appreciate that the prius has an advanced anti-pollution system.... just something to think about...

  • @alexprime If you stop to consider the amount of environmental impact that the production of the hybrid batteries have, as well as the added costs, they Prius is not as awesome as some make it out to be. Now consider that to get superb mileage in a Prius one has to pay close attention to driving style, versus the TDIs in which one can have fun and still have a great tank or trip average MPG

  • Diesels are the best - lots of power (torque) and the best fuel economy in any car.

My 2006 Golf TDI (turbodiesel) gets about 46mpg in mostly city driving (much better than electrics), and it's done over 50mpg.

In the city, it averages about 615 miles between fill-ups, and that's on a 13.5 gal. tank. And it doesn't smoke or smell ... Can't wait for biodiesel to sell in my area. Grow our own fuel - and leave the Middle Eastern & Venezuelan dictatorships behind.

  • TDI are getting a loads of torqu because of the turbo ;)

Did you see a Turbo Benzin car?

  • What#s about the 1.8t? or the 1.4tsi?? Both are equipped with a turbo. and in the tsi is a roots blower too.

  • affradi not, my Prius always gets 52mpg or more. Just because you've "done over 50" doesn't mean you always do.

I just drive the car like any other car. I have done the hypermill thing and can get over 64mpg.

Not to mention gasoline is much cheaper as well as the maintence on a Prius.

  • the facts in this commercial are truth. we've got a golf mk5 variant and we are able to drive 1160 km with 50 liters.

  • So you average around 54mpg based on that.

Still can't get the 64mpg that fast55 gets...plus, at least where I am, diesel costs alot more then gas.

  • So, you just proved the facts are WRONG.

In the commercial it says 1370km, and you said you get 1160km (64mpg).

    Your still short by 210km.

I can get 1250km out of a 45 liter tank.

If you do the math, it's 65.34mpg.

I think Lowered did metric units, mine are converted over to US gallons.

  • People dont just want an ugly boxed shape car and a boring interior and exterior and no power at all. People want something that stands out, is fun and has power so you can actually drive it rather then pushing the prius to the maximum limit to try to achieve 60+mph. In the long run you actually save more with the Jetta TDI then the prius because your paying more then 32K. and for the TDI your paying 22K and you know what else gas is expensive its about the same price as diesel now.

    VDubs FTW!!

  • ya I know the tdi gets good gas millage but that was disgusting :p

  • At least he wasn't drinking from the gas station toilet.

  • Hehe, fajne. TDI rządzi :)

  • haha pamiętam ją, fajna reklama =]
