I like the videos. i just dont like the white background.. maybe it would be easier for people to watch if you had a normal background. just a suggestion.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't "causing harm" on the road already illegal and punishable?
The cel phone law is silly and unenforcable in every practical sense, but....drunk drivers? Are they, too, then only held liable when they actually "cause harm"? Just checking there.
@Eldeecue yes absolutely you've been tricked by sources like the media into thinking "drunk" drivers are a real danger. do they cause deaths sure but no more than distracted drivers do you can never tell if someone is going to cause an accident until it actually happens only then should the law be allowed to hold those people accountable.
There is no scientific way of making the connection that accidents have gone up because of this law. It could have gone up for any number of reasons depending on the time period of when the study was done.
Making a law that governs peoples' behavior is necessary if the behavior presents increased risk to other people and property. For example, banning cell phone use would seem to fall under that heading, while demanding seat belt use does not. There then arises the issues of enforceability and what people might do to get around the law.
I have not seen specific study results, but I have seen a couple of different statements that the death rate has decreased since the ban. There is clearly a difference of opinion. Still searching for the stats themselves.
Someone once hit my car due to watching a pretty co-worker of mine emerging from our building. As I lawfully drove down the road and he rounded the corner, I caught sight of him turning his gaze to look at her and I thought, "Damn, that guy is going to hit me." And he did.
He was clearly at fault, and he didn't even try to deny his responsibility. In fact, he even remarked on being "distracted" by my co-worker.
Let's start a movement: Ban all pretty women from walking down the street!
Not to play the devil's advocate here, however do you have proof that accidents have gone up as a result of this law? Not saying that I disagree with anything in this video, I would like some supporting documentation.
@DarthOpto Do you really need documentation to see this as truth? During prohibition, when alcohol was outlawed, there were more illegal speakeasy's in Chicago than there are currently bars or pubs. And more alcohol related deaths, and more alcoholism. You have the internet. If you want some proof I'm sure you can google search for some.

This makes sense to me and has far broader applicability than driving.

Accidents don't go up because of a new law, they go up because people want to continue to make poor decisions.
