You can do even better tbh. Party of just Ryu and a level 1 Character. Each will get half the exp rather than a quarter of it.

The experience is not divided between the party members in this game (the amount shown after the battle ends shows the sum for the whole party, but each survivor gets a fixed amount no matter how many survivors there were in the first place).

The message the game gives you at the end of the battle can be kinda misleading, so don't blame yourself. You can't know unless you check it specifically (or I tell you :P).

Nope. Experience isn't split. I'll explain with examples.

Let's say an enemy gives 300 experience. If one person survives (regardless of whether ther's one person or four people in the party), it will be shown "Obtained 300 experience", the survivor getting it all. If two people survive, it will be "Obtained 600 experience", both survivors getting half. And so on. If four people survive, it would be "Obtained 1200 experience", each person getting 300.

I never liked that about BoF2.

Correct, the number can be misleading unless you look into it yourself and see that the game shows the sum for all characters, each one getting the experience from each enemy + a bonus dependent on the level gap between the hero and the character.

Found it... Seems that Ryu should be at least lv. 41 for the biggest amount of experience to go to Bow (the gap divided by 5 has to be over 7). My mistake was thinking that it can be any number over 7, but it must be at least 8 apparently, hence lv. 41+ needed.

Fixing this should add the mysteriously missing 3K exp, but Bow still leaps to the same level so it's still legit (unless there's another way of doing it that I'm unaware of).
