Abortion is a very complex issue. People who oppose it believe that it's murder; they don't see it as telling a woman what to do with her body.

Dictating whom one can marry is legislating morality, but it's not a new idea. Gay marriage was never allowed until just recently.

If you teach one religion's version of creation, you have to teach the creation stories of all religions, not just the Judeo-Christian one. That includes the Buddhist, Hindu, Zoroastrian, Shinto, Wiccan, Asatru, Native American, pagan, etc.

The Religious Right tend to be against religions other than their own. So if you're a Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, etc, they've a problem with you. And they oppose policies that benefit workers, like minimum wage, unemployment insurance, collective bargaining..

I don't think that the religious right is monolithic on those other issues. For instance, I never see Pat Robertson talking about the evils of the minimum wage on his show. Many on the religious right used to be Democrats and tend to support things that benefit the working man.

Even FDR didn't like the idea of public worker unions collectively bargaining.

With the help of the Supreme Court in 2000 in Florida, and the electronic voting fraud in Ohio in 2004, Bush implemented the Neo-Fascist state in America. Deregulation, particularly the repeal of Glass Stegall, broke down the firewall between commercial and investment banks, which encouraged bankers to take on riskier investments, turning the whole economy into a casino. The only real difference is, when they inevitably end up losing, so did the rest of us. They did commit fraud, but nobody except for Bernie Madoff has gone to jail, because the bankers and Wall Street have BOTH parties in their pockets and can buy their way out of any trouble.

The realtors, who should've evaluated prospective homebuyers on whether they were qualified, kept trying to talk them up to bigger and thus more expensive homes, which of course meant more commission for them, instead of doing their jobs and lining the customers with something within their affordability range.

Ron Paul puts the blame on the Federal Reserve, not on deregulation. I'm certainly no expert on the Fed, but Paul seems to believe that they print out too much money and that they give out too much credit to banks.

The reason abortion would still be a movement is because it still has a question (at what point do we consider the featus alive?). We would still need to discuss the conditions on which late term abortion is allowed? We would still need to consider what "late" means (3 months, 6 months 8 months?). Nevertheless, these conversations could happen rationally.
