2. Even if it were true, corporations are ASSOCIATIONS of people. People have the right to come together and form associations, and associations of people have the same speech rights as individuals.
The very opposite is true. Theists are the greatest proponents of freedom in the country. The problem is those who believe in a centralization of secular government power as nanny/instructor. Zappa had his drugged head up his ass. We see liberal fascism in the attempted forced acceptance of morals, in political correctness, in life regulations from diet to light bulbs to speech (political correctness) & thought (hate crimes) in the name of a greater good. All with a peace sign & smiley face.
@Sage80 Theists the greatest proponents of freedom? Only for those who think like they do. In other words, if you're a rich White straight evangelical fundie conservative Christian male, they're for your freedom, but everyone else, women, gays, ethnic/religious minorities, atheists, workers, etc, not so much.
@Pbirv You obviously have never been around such people. We really don't care enough about you to tell you how to live. Just keep your government ou t of our homes & business. @Sage80 And trying to tell a woman what she can do with her body, or dictate who can marry, or what consenting adults can do in the privacy of their homes, etc, isn't trying to legislate morality?
If you teach one religion's version of creation, you have to teach the creation stories of all religions, not just the Judeo-Christian one. That includes the Buddhist, Hindu, Zoroastrian, Shinto, Wiccan, Asatru, Native American, pagan, etc.
The Religious Right tend to be against religions other than their own. So if you're a Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, etc, they've a problem with you. And they oppose policies that benefit workers, like minimum wage, unemployment insurance, collective bargaining..
Obviously, creationism can't be taught as science, but I can see it being taught in some form of a comparative religion class.
I don't think that the religious right is monolithic on those other issues. For instance, I never see Pat Robertson talking about the evils of the minimum wage on his show. Many on the religious right used to be Democrats and tend to support things that benefit the working man.
Even FDR didn't like the idea of public worker unions collectively bargaining.
The Christian Coalition (i.e. Pat Robertson, Ralph Reed & the Abramoff scandal), Moral Majority (Jerry Farwell) all were part of the Neocon agenda to get George W. Bush "elected." With the help of the Supreme Court in 2000 in Florida, and the electronic voting fraud in Ohio in 2004, Bush implemented the Neo-Fascist state in America. This included shredding the Constitution and replacing it with the Patriot Act. The Tea Party & the Christian Right have fascist ideology similar to Nazi Germany.
@CrimsonSword36669 The Tea Party movement didn't have a fascist ideology, it was a grassroots movement with the overall idea of downsizing the government. The leftwing media tried to paint it as FoxNews inspired and Neocon but the fox neocons dislike it just as much as welfare state internationalist lefties in the white house and most of the media. Ron Paul is regarded as the intellectual grandfather of the Tea Party movement. How can you possibly label it as fascist?
You're an idiot. There's no comparison whatsoever between the Christian right and Nazi Germany. Get over the 2000 and 2004 elections. Both were won fairly, jackass.
@Edgehead10075 No,because your a rude prick that throws name calling around without any real need at people you dont know so fuck off and die,I'm not telling you shit.
@shadowr434 how? you can't be fascist if you're anti-statist. fascism is a form central government interspersed with the powers of corporations. and no free market economics doesn't lead to corporatism since it's purpose is to maintain competitive markets and weaken coercive institutions under a common law.

Regardless of the label used, there's no doubt in my mind that the kind of rampant inequality, concentration of wealth, and corporate power over politics and the media we have today is a grave threat to freedom and democracy. Just because we don't go as far as Orwell's 1984 doesn't mean we aren't seeing signs of "soft totalitarianism": workers' rights ignored, media propaganda, astroturfing, rampant political lobbying, soaring prison populations, demonization of target social groups, etc.
The US is far beyond Orwells 1984 - far beyond - it is so complete, and exported globally - and often so subtle that people are oblivious to the fact. Orwells 1984 was in your face and obvious, the US form is far more powerful due to its subtle nature - but far more complete - people enjoy being slaves, and only complain when the conditions in the prison deteriorate.
ron paul pretty much summed up patriotism in 1:00, his talking about most of the people in his own party. Republicans for War, Democrats fucking up the economy.
Ron Paul believes there was no separation of Church and State implicit in the constitution, wants to eliminate the EPA and OSHA, does not believe in a minimum wage, make abortion illegal, etc etc...sorry, I can't trust him. Deregulation is not the key, sir.
Deregulation, particularly the repeal of Glass Stegall, broke down the firewall between commercial and investment banks, which encouraged bankers to take on riskier investments, turning the whole economy into a casino. The only real difference is, when they inevitably end up losing, so did the rest of us. They did commit fraud, but nobody except for Bernie Madoff has gone to jail, because the bankers and Wall Street have BOTH parties in their pockets and can buy their way out of any trouble.
@Edgehead10075 Actually no more than 25% of the bad loans were CRA. The rest were just good old fashioned free market capitalism. The realtors, who should've evaluated prospective homebuyers on whether they were qualified, kept trying to talk them up to bigger and thus more expensive homes, which of course meant more commission for them, instead of doing their jobs and lining the customers with something within their affordability range.
Why didn't the realtors' bosses do their job and make sure that the loans were good? It's in their best interest to make sure that the loans can be paid back; is it not? Wouldn't self regulation be common sense?
Ron Paul puts the blame on the Federal Reserve, not on deregulation. I'm certainly no expert on the Fed, but Paul seems to believe that they print out too much money and that they give out too much credit to banks.

It depends on how you define "freedom." According to the standard libertarian definition of freedom, CATO is for freedom. They don't like the idea of government providing services when they think that the private sector would do it better.
@Edgehead10075 Freedom isn't free, for that matter the private sector is not any better than the public sector, they're both ran by the same sleazy greedy crooks.
We the People of Earth have before us the opportunity to forge for ourselves, and for future generations...a True World Order. A world where Constitutional Responsible Freedom...not the Old World Disorder Demonic Theocracy...governs the conduct of nations. When we are successful...and we will be...we have a real chance at this True World Order...an order in which a credible United Nations can use Constitutional Responsible Freedom to fulfill the promise and vision of All Races.
Our government shouldn't give two shits about anybody religions. If church and state were ACTUALLY seperate there wouldn't be propositions to ban gay marriage, or movements to ban abortion or stem cell research because the only reason these are an issue is because people feel it violates their religious beliefs.
There is just too many brainwashed religious zealots out there that need to realize not everyone agrees with them and stop trying to force it upon people who have different views.
@GuyMcWilliams Their would still be a movement against abortion by the way. The rest is correct.
The reason abortion would still be a movement is because it still has a question (at what point do we consider the featus alive?). We would still need to discuss the conditions on which late term abortion is allowed? We would still need to consider what "late" means (3 months, 6 months 8 months?). Nevertheless, these conversations could happen rationally.
Incorrect, moron. One can be against gay marriage and abortion based on reasons other than religion. The Soviet Union was an atheist nation that didn't allow gay marriage. You, sir, are a fucking idiot.
@AllStarBugler Come on, it's not like the guy is that well-known... and information about people's lives and deaths is not exactly easily pubicly accessible these days.
@erotomaniac not well known? I guess you are not a musician, no faulting you for that. But if you are a musician, you should know that Frank Zappa is America's greatest composer. Check out his website. Peace.
@erotomaniac Newsflash dumbass. Zappa's been burning in Hell since 1994 with the other rock music freaks. Good fucking riddance to that America hating, captalism hating, Christianity hating Marxist hippy piece of trash.
this guy shouldn't be trusted... he doesn't note the religions huuuge role in the fascist movement, he just talks about corporations and government, that in itself isn't the fascism we're moving towards, some crazy christians trying to take over the government is a big threat
yep... and its not really real christians that are trying to do this fascist movement.. what it is corrupt politicians who hide behind the bible but in reality they're the biggest hypocrites ever. They don't worship a god they worship money... They manipulate people by using bullshit religion. Vote for me cause I hate gays, vote for me cause I read the bible everyday, vote for me ... bla bla blah...
Yes, but it is real christians who vote for these people. And these corrupt politicians you speak of undoubtedly know that. I know plenty of people who voted in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections solely on the issue of abortion and because Bush was ostensibly pro-life. Yet these people are too blind to see what they are coerced into doing.
@Edgehead10075 I never made that charge, was merely responding to someone who had. Make sure when you respond, you do so to the appropriate person. Idiot. And why the fuck have you commented on this video dozens of times, some replies on comments from over two years ago? Idiot.
I apologize for thinking that you were implying that. However, there's nothing wrong with replying to old comments. If someone says something stupid at ANY time, I will reply.
Ron Paul is not politically correct enough to be accepted by the media and thus no promotion of his run to the white house. keep on keeping on Ron Paul
Zappa and Paul have nothing to do with each other. This video of yours is stupid. Also, Zappa was wrong; we're not headed towards a theocracy. If we're headed towards a theocracy, why are more and more states allowing gay civil unions and marriage?
The good thing though is that the Asians are not going to keep allowing the rich fascist families of the U.S. screw with them any longer. They got us by the balls because they lend us money. Like Jim Rogers said (Ron Paul supporter) "China is the new America." Hopefully, America never gains the power again. We should be more neutral in the world. The Chinese, Japanese, and the rest of them can keep it.

It took over 100 years before it became common knowledge here, and it'll take just as long for everyone to come to grips with the fact that we are a fascist imperialist nation.
Our role in the world is telling other countries if you do ___ we'll bomb you. We taser and arrest citizens for talking too loudly. We give special tax and legal privileges to the more wealthy. Consolidation and despotism in all major industries. Eg energy, media, retail, ect. I could write several pages on American imperialist fascism. Look on your money... You'll find fascia symbols all over it.
I don't totally agree with that. Look at what's going on in the Sudan, and the U.S. hasn't lifted a finger. There are many situations in which we haven't interjected ourselves, and the bombing campaign in Libya was voted for by the U.N.
I'm not sure about your point on tasering people just for talking too loudly.
I thought that the symbols on our money were of the Illuminati (pyramid with eyeball on top), not fascists.
@Edgehead10075 corporations are government entities. they would not exist in a truly free market. their huge size and lack of personal liability allow them to take risks with buying politicians to line their pockets.
the corporation won't get shut down, just one CEO will be fired
@Edgehead10075 I'm not sure how you think disputing 4 words of a paragraph makes you right, but what ever... Fascism has a definition, look it up, then see if it applies. It can't be made any easier than that,

Abortion is a very complex issue. People who oppose it believe that it's murder; they don't see it as telling a woman what to do with her body.
Dictating whom one can marry is legislating morality, but it's not a new idea. Gay marriage was never allowed until just recently.
Who still cares about prohibiting certain sex acts in the bedroom?
Edgehead10075 6 months ago
The thing is that Ron Paul is pro-life and thinks that it's okay for public schools to teach creationism, so why is he being compared to Frank Zappa?
Also, how is the religious right against ethnic minorities and workers? There's really no moral issue that affects those people.
Edgehead10075 6 months ago

It depends on how you define "freedom." According to the standard libertarian definition of freedom, CATO is for freedom. They don't like the idea of government providing services when they think that the private sector would do it better.
Edgehead10075 6 months ago

GuyMcWilliams 2 years ago 17
@GuyMcWilliams Their would still be a movement against abortion by the way. The rest is correct.
The reason abortion would still be a movement is because it still has a question (at what point do we consider the featus alive?). We would still need to discuss the conditions on which late term abortion is allowed? We would still need to consider what "late" means (3 months, 6 months 8 months?). Nevertheless, these conversations could happen rationally.
Cheers.
daobagua 7 months ago
Incorrect, moron. One can be against gay marriage and abortion based on reasons other than religion. The Soviet Union was an atheist nation that didn't allow gay marriage. You, sir, are a fucking idiot.

@erotomaniac not well known? I guess you are not a musician, no faulting you for that. But if you are a musician, you should know that Frank Zappa is America's greatest composer. Check out his website. Peace.

@AllStarBugler Website? What's that? What kind of girl do you think we are?

@erotomaniac Newsflash dumbass. Zappa's been burning in Hell since 1994 with the other rock music freaks. Good fucking riddance to that America hating, captalism hating, Christianity hating Marxist hippy piece of trash.

Fascism should rightly be called Corporatism, as it is the merger of corporate and government power.

this guy shouldn't be trusted... he doesn't note the religions huuuge role in the fascist movement, he just talks about corporations and government, that in itself isn't the fascism we're moving towards, some crazy christians trying to take over the government is a big threat
mln9898 3 years ago
He does say that when fascism comes to America it will be raped in the flag, carrying a cross.
That sounds like mentioning religion to me.

I hope I never get raped in a flag.

yep... and its not really real christians that are trying to do this fascist movement.. what it is corrupt politicians who hide behind the bible but in reality they're the biggest hypocrites ever. They don't worship a god they worship money... They manipulate people by using bullshit religion. Vote for me cause I hate gays, vote for me cause I read the bible everyday, vote for me ... bla bla blah...
DrFeelgood56 3 years ago 2
Yes, but it is real christians who vote for these people. And these corrupt politicians you speak of undoubtedly know that. I know plenty of people who voted in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections solely on the issue of abortion and because Bush was ostensibly pro-life. Yet these people are too blind to see what they are coerced into doing.
bmxtra211 3 years ago 4
So you're a fascist if you're pro-life? Idiot.
Edgehead10075 6 months ago
@Edgehead10075 I never made that charge, was merely responding to someone who had. Make sure when you respond, you do so to the appropriate person. Idiot. And why the fuck have you commented on this video dozens of times, some replies on comments from over two years ago? Idiot.
bmxtra211 6 months ago
I apologize for thinking that you were implying that. However, there's nothing wrong with replying to old comments. If someone says something stupid at ANY time, I will reply.
Edgehead10075 6 months ago
The Bible has nothing to do with fascism, idiot.
Edgehead10075 6 months ago
Theocracy and fascism aren't the same thing, idiot.
Edgehead10075 6 months ago
Theocracy and fascism aren't the same thing, jackass, and opposing gay marriage and abortion doesn't make a person a theocrat.

It's like saying all politicians are liars...
It took over 100 years before it became common knowledge here, and it'll take just as long for everyone to come to grips with the fact that we are a fascist imperialist nation.
dingusmungus 3 years ago 4
What exactly makes us a fascist nation?
Edgehead10075 6 months ago
@Edgehead10075
You'll find fascia symbols all over it.
dingusmungus 5 months ago
I don't totally agree with that. Look at what's going on in the Sudan, and the U.S. hasn't lifted a finger. There are many situations in which we haven't interjected ourselves, and the bombing campaign in Libya was voted for by the U.N.
I'm not sure about your point on tasering people just for talking too loudly.
I thought that the symbols on our money were of the Illuminati (pyramid with eyeball on top), not fascists.
Edgehead10075 5 months ago
Tax breaks and merging of companies are all a part of capitalism. I'm not sure how all of that is fascism.
Edgehead10075 5 months ago
@Edgehead10075 corporations are government entities. they would not exist in a truly free market. their huge size and lack of personal liability allow them to take risks with buying politicians to line their pockets.
the corporation won't get shut down, just one CEO will be fired
darris321 4 months ago
Fair enough, but I've never heard a libertarian, including Ron Paul, speak out against the existence of corporations.
Edgehead10075 4 months ago
@Edgehead10075 I'm not sure how you think disputing 4 words of a paragraph makes you right, but what ever... Fascism has a definition, look it up, then see if it applies. It can't be made any easier than that,
