  • How about trying this? Select the text (no need to make outlines), and in the appearance palette, hit the "add new fill" button at the bottom (white square icon). You should now see a box for fill and stroke. They work in layers so what ever is on top in the panel is on top in your design. You can select the stroke layer and hit the duplicate icon at the bottom of the palette. Changing the fill color and stroke size allows you to create the very same effects while only creating one shape.

  • nice simple tut straight to the point... sick!!

  • How do you save it as a font???

  • @DFeatedYou This is not how you make your own font. This is a random font tut.

  • @DFeatedYou save as .itf

  • Buzzinnnnnnnn on coffee lol

  • You can do the same by right clicking the text and selecting "create outlines". Just FYI.

  • For some reason when I do the offset path it doesn't do as yours does. All it does is make a bunch of circles that look nowhere near text. I'm using adobe CS2, does that change it?

  • Hey Thanks for this, good quick tutorial.

  • very nice I like this tutorial

    You explain things very clearly

  • how do you make text seem as if it's been cut in half horizontally? For example the letter 'C' how would you seperate the top half from the bottom half, to look as if it's been cut in to two?

  • Hey thanks for the comment.

you know i would outline the font so that it all becomes a path with fill as opposed to just a font. and then after that draw a small rectangle through the middle of the text that you want to cut in half and then "divide" it all so they get separated.

try it out and tell me what you think. if you can't get it message me and request it and ill throw the video up

  • Thanks for replying! Was great help, although would you also be able to put it in a video?

  • thanks for the reply i mean like little round dots yeah instead of line i want the letters in little round dots thanks for the time

  • thanks that was really helpful i have one question can u write in dots in cs4 if so can u post a tutorial please

  • hey i am glad the tutorial worked out. When you say write dots, do you mean the same thing that is going on here or an actual dotted line?
