  • now THAT is a Disney Dad. :) well done!

  • where did you get all the footage

  • Dean, After you told me about this at MK Sat., I had to see it. Great job! It was really nice meeting you and the others at the TTA Convergence!

    Tuffcookie, Cindy

  • @cfleet53 Cindy! I forgot to respond to this, sorry. It was a pleasure meeting you, and fun to cram the 5 of us into one TTA car :) Hope to see you again someday!

  • Now the footage you used is definately what the new Soarin film should be like. Soaring over the Earth's natural wonders, thus tieing it in with the Land pavillion's theme. Well done! A lot of that footage was pretty spectacular too. Especially the Buffalo stampede and the waterfall.

  • may I just say this is amazing.

  • Wonderful! Well done!

  • Wowww! That's really cool! How did you get the swing to move with the footage? Do you guys have mechanical backround or anything like that?

  • @Frogki1 - Hey, missed your question somehow :) We had a person behind the riders moving the swing in step with the show. My brother and his son were the techies behind it all, I just helped :)

  • @DreamersEmpire Ahh, gotcha :) Well I've got to ask if you did something to make it free hanging? Like, you lossened certain bolts so it can move to the sides too... That would be neat, that would be like a REAL Soarin lol...

  • @Frogki1 - Its a swinging bench that just swings forward and backward. Thats all Soarin does too, even though it doesn't seem like it ;)

  • @DreamersEmpire Errr... Doesn't it swing towards the sides as well?

  • @Frogki1 It seems like it does but it doesn't. Just ask my friend Jason, if you see this post please confirm :) Jason was one of the top dogs at Soarin WDW.

  • what kind of sound system is in it? it soundsd pretty nice.

  • @justinbonytube I'll have to let my brother and nephew answer that, they were the techies behind it all.

  • is it rear projected

  • @justinbonytube - correct!

  • WOW! Did you have 'breeze' and scented oils being piped in, too?

  • @MenollytheBeagle - We had two small fans installed above the riders, mostly out of site, and controlled so they came on at strategic points of the ride :) We bought some scents, at least a citrus one I think, but couldn't find a good way to make that happen. Glad you liked it..

  • Amazing!!!

  • really cool

  • Awesome!

I created a home made "Tower of Terror" myself when I was younger.

  • I think we spoke to you or one of your buddies before about this, we were very impressed with all the work you put into T.O.T. We hoped others would do Disney ride re-creations but only found one other one besides yours. We didn't have time to do one this year but are thinking about a "Horizons" re-creation next year.

  • How about creating a look alike of Mission Space or Tower of terror. They are both my favorite disney rides.

  • WOW. My hat is off to you guys. *applause* How did you film that new footage for your version of the ride?

  • Hey, this reply is about 3 months late (sorry). We purchased footage from some 'fly over' series, I can't recall the name as my brother did that. Take care crazy coaster rider! Which coaster is your favorite?

  • That is absolutely adorable!

this is the kind of creativity that disney needs!!!

i hope you or your kids end up having a career in imagineering!

    keep up the awesome work.

im definitely keeping an eye out for more of these!

  • Sorry for late reply, but wanted to thank-you for your kind comments. Yes, we would love to have our kids get into imagineering, as I'm sure you would too :-)

  • wow this is wonderful very creative idea. I love this ride also it is so much fun.

  • Theres a halfway blurred mickey at 5:09

  • Oh the sandtrap? I think I noticed that before. I didn't know you could put a "time link" in like that, cool!

  • I bet those kids didnt have to wait in line for three hours to see that.

  • that was really cool how did you time everything so perfectly

  • Wow! This is a really cool idea. Great video! -Joel

  • I really wanted to go on this in DisneyWorld. I never did.

    You've done a Brilliant Job.

Make me a 'Haunted Mansion'? That was one of my favourite rides.

    X's

  • I wish i had one like that!

  • I must say as a big "Soaring" and Epcot fan , Wow! this was truly amazingly "wondertastic"

  • Is that Captains hat Soviet?

    Great video!

  • I saw a hidden Mickey at 4:19!!

  • Indeed you did, and it wasn't even planned but someone else pointed that out to us. :-)

  • ever thought about selling your footage to the big mouse got to say some parts are BETTER than the ride itself

  • I have to say this is freaking awesome! I loved it. Will you be my dad?? hehehe. I'm in shock. Do other kids from the neighborhood come over?? hehe

  • Awesome!!! Great job!!!

  • That's so cool. I wish I was spoiled like that when I was a little kid. I don't know where you could find some pine-scented stuff, but the cologne that they sell at American Eagle stores smells like some point in that ride. I'm not exactly sure what part though.

  • O my god this is sooo cool!!! I love the pre-flight video, with the nod to Patrick Warburton!!! Awesome!

  • This is awesome! Way to make magic at home!

  • The videos you had in your Mini-Soarin' was fantastic! Just how far did your gliders take you? It looked like all over the US. Very well done.

(Can I just say I am glad that the real Soarin' carriages don't require us to rock them during flight!)

~ Sarah, one of Jason's last trainees

  • Thanks Sarah! Yeah, the "rocking" was all done manually by my nephew, which is why we warn them. Jason is getting to be a big star in our books!

  • Totally I've been telling the whole flight crew about this and it seems like most of them like it.

  • LOL... please refrain from talking loudly.. lol

  • Dude. I worked at Soarin' last fall as an intern. I'm very shocked by this video and how it inspired you to build this. Did you have the smells as well?

  • dude, you can't just work at Soarin' as an intern and not have the sweetest trainer right? What did you do there? Where you a Pilot or a flight attendent?

  • We had purchased an orange room freshener but could not find a pine scent. Pine used to be big right? Try to find it now, its not there! Anyway, we didn't end up using it. I was the flight attendant, my nephew Andrew was doing the chair movements, and my other newphew Eric ran all the controls (by far he was the man!). Epcotbob was the busiest preparing for Illuminations. So we essentially didn't figure out a way to do the scents. Next year!

  • As a fellow castmember for Soarin right along with Jason below me, that was adorable. We're slightly more forcerful about not rocking the carriages but other than that you were dead on ;) haha

    beautiful footage!

I'm glad you enjoyed the ride...thanks for Soarin with us ;)

  • Hey, another Soarin CM, we are truly honored. Maybe you and Jason can get us on a backstage tour of Soarin ;)

Thanks for the nice feedback :)

  • haha cooooooool this reminds me of me and my brother making rides in our basement when we were little

  • Let me first start by stating that I'm a Soarin' Pilot at Epcot Soarin', and that was the funniest version that I have ever seen, your depliction of the cast was to a te and I liked the part about not rocking the carriage (seats) and not to make any loud noises. If you don't mind there is a Soarin' DVD that I'm making to go in the archives at Soarin and I would like to put this video on it. Thanks again for the Laugh I can't wait to see the next Soarin' video just don't rip on the cast too much.

  • Jason, its truly an honor to have connected with a Soarin Pilot. I never knew what one was but now that I know, I can't imagine a better job at WDW. We'll be mentioning your name the next time we're standing in line for Soarin :-)

  • Good Job! Very fun way to entertain the family. I can't wait to see MinIlluminations!

  • cool exept for the part where i'm in it, lol

  • What a magical thing to do! So terrific!

  • Another amazing video- You are a great dad, I am sure you drive your wife crazy. What a wonderful way to spend your energy though. Good job.

  • Dude ... you are the coolest dad on the planet!! Why cant I find a man like you!!!

  • You missed a very important ride element of the show.

The Gift Shop at the exit. :-)

  • Amazing, amazing, amazing!!! Can I come and live in your house?!

  • Thanks for all your incredible comments! Thanks also to jldmotocross - we removed comment just due to kid factor, but appreciate your enthusiasm!

  • Best. Thing. Ever.

  • Great!! I really like soarin.. it is great..but this is great also

  • 8 minutes of watching somebody watch a simulation of a simulation. I think I'll call it, "Microcot"!

  • very creative and fun!

  • You are my kind of people :)! May your lives be filled with dreams that always come true!

  • Very, very cool.

Course now, the RAT patrol is gonna make someone remove this video.....

  • omg.. that was pretty much the most amazing thing ive ever seen (besides the real thing :O)

  • As I said on your Illuminations video...you are my hero!!!.

We built an outdoor movie screen in our backyard ala Fort Wilderness themed. We'll have to try this :).

  • WOW! That was really awesome. Your kids are so lucky!

  • WOW!

    Jaw dropping.

  • That is pretty amazing

  • Pretty cool. Though it was a bit hard to see what the "Hang Glider" was doing.

  • Wow! I am very impressed! I would love to take a ride on the home-made Soarin'!

    Shawna B.

  • not bad

  • I should explain, I have two youtube accounts and was replying with my "biketrip" account below. Sorry!

  • Too cool! Keep it up!

  • You have a great collection of favorites that I look forward to watching. Very nice choices!

  • Very inspiring! Excellent work!

  • Thank-you, inspiring was one of the words we were hoping to hear, I'll explain sometime.

  • Just wonderful!! Great work- and keep it up! :-)

  • Thanks CavyC! Its been a lot of fun :-)

  • Excellent job!! Just too cute! Thank you for sharing!!

  • Well, I have to give you a HUGE compliment here - it was perhaps watching the in-queue monitor that made me feel the most like I was back in DCA. And I NEVER thought I'd be happy to feel like I was back THERE! ; )

  • At first I thought this would be hokey but I have to say GREAT JOB!!!

  • Thanks, we're just a few amateur's but we did the best we could. Hard to believe but it actually took us 3 months to plan and execute this, and we had no idea when we started we would end up doing the hallways and queue video, so it definately grew.

  • HAHAHA.....this is actually pretty neat, great job!!!!
