  • 1987 video??

  • Awesome video!!! Got one back in 1987 as an X-MAS Gift and recently gave it a much needed tuneup; works and runs fine...Tamiya still the best in R/C!!!!

  • I have an oryginal clod buster my dad got it me years ago love it it just sits in the shed now aha might get it out and sell it

  • 6 people bought USA-1's instead and regretted it ever since...

  • Damn what a flash black!!! I had the Lunch Box then Black Foot and always wanted the Clod Buster!!!

  • @Aldiggi

That's funny, I had a Blackfoot and a Clod Buster and wanted to get the Lunch Box but never did. I always liked it though. A friend of mine had one. The clod buster was awesome and so was the black foot. The black foot hauled ass though. I forget the name, but it had the optional gold something?? motor. I think that's right? It was the faster available motor though. I miss those trucks!

  • @Aldiggi

I just looked it up... I was close, it's called the .540 "Technigold Motor" I don't know what the regular .540 was like, but this thing made the black foot really haul ass like I was saying before... Which motor did your black foot have?

  • NICE CLASSIC RC MONSTER TRUCK!!!

  • This is a great video, and it has been showcased in Wide Open Throttle, the best free Radio Control Car Magazine! Keep up the great work!

  • The original!!!

  • wats song?

  • I got the origanl clodbuster

  • I like it

  • what were the run time for those back in the days?

  • Love the Tamiya line of products! The clodbuster is one of my favorites.

  • Great video! These old Tamiya videos make me feel like a kid again. I'm getting back into RC cars. I lost interest back in the mid 90s. It's great to see that Tamiya still sells some of their classics. I'm itching to get a Lunchbox soon. Hopefully, Tamiya will re-release the original Clod Buster. I don't care for the Super ClodBuster. What would be nice is if they do what they did with the Avante and make improvements on the original while keeping the classic look.

  • real rc competition like il rc challenge and nrctpa would have probably never happened without this thing thanks for uploading this

  • I use just the axels and built two custom wood frame versions of this truck. The wood frames started as a joke that i tought would brake after the first big air jump I hit it surprised me after flying the truck out of the back of my truck bed. It took the landing and kept going.. I'm currently working on two trucks like this I have a custom made grave digger which has a video on here and a early 50's chevy pick-up which is not yet completed but will be hopefully by mid 2011...

  • that would be terrible 4 jumps. it would fukin bottom out an depending on the incline would frontflip

  • The original clod had so much charm. Tamiya fucked with it, and now the "super clod" is not the same. Stupid. It looks even more like a toy now.

  • I still have mine. The body struts are all broken from rolling it to much.

  • CLOD BUSTER #1

  • I say so what if its not fast. Real monster trucks are not that fast they are just power houses. The Clodbuster is made mainly just to have fun with!!! If you want a fast RC vehicle get something like a gas powered T maxx or the like.

  • You can use 6 D rechargable batteries. Put 3 in the front and three in the back. They fit perfect, all you have to do is wire them together and add a battery plug to it. It takes about an hour to charge, but runs for about an hout and a half. I had an original issue clod and this setup worked perfect.

  • Tamiya race pack for good perfmance is right, you can also get simple 3000+MAH batterys. I know lipo would be cool but it would just destroy the old-school purpose.

  • anyone know how much it is?

  • cool! i like how he did a full detail about the truck fron inside out. i used to have an rc nascar that had the same speed control setup that was controlled by a servo. i miss that car. i had it up till 2000. left it behind when i moved.

  • Lunchbox!!!!!!!

  • How much

  • My father bought my brother and I one for Christmas. It was awesome. One of my favorite presents of all time. I still have mine in perfect condition. Would anyone like to buy it?

  • e-maxx's look up to the 'buster

  • i had 3 batterries in mine. it was awsome. i could charge them up and be driving for almost an hour. it had the stick type in the center then one on the front and one on the back at 2:15 you see where i put them. it made the truck heavy as hell and acted like a real monster truck.

  • I had one when i was young, But it only lasted about 8 Minutes on a full charge..But its alot of truck

  • @gixxersoup 8 min with old 1200 nicd mah batterys ;) mine last atleast 25 min with GP3300 ;)

  • that sticker of the cowboy crushing the dirt chunk is hilariously awesome! i want that on a tshirt

  • You can get them on a shirt. I know there is a place on eBay that sells high quality shirt/sweatshirts with the Clod Buster dirt chunk breaking. It is really cool.

  • I miss my old Clod Buster

  • have a a 1987 clodbuster

  • Changed the world of R/C forever. Nothing even comes close to the impact that this particular model made on the industry - nothing.

  • I just love this video. This is my absoluste favorite truck. I have kie 6. Only 2 are bone stock, but I always run them and have a blast. I am glad ( may sound cheesy) to have been around to buy my own way back in the 80's and own a piece of rc history

  • @1996siveradoman

Doesn`t sound cheesy at all. I still remember when my dad bought me a Varicom Big Grizzly back in the 80`s. We went to that old store in town and got it. Not some fancy Toys r Us but a little shop ran by an older guy. That brings back memories. Really miss those times.

  • @1996siveradoman I just bought my first Clod Buster used off ebay . I always wanted one since the 80's. I can't wait to do some upgrades and do some work on it..

  • Aaaach da kommen Errinnerungen an meinen Vater hoch=)

  • A stock clod runs about 12-15 i say, depending on battery u use.

The clod is forever one the greatest rc's ever. It changed so much in rc history i think.

  • In mph right? Seems about right, i would guess 12 with a good GP3300 7.2v

  • first 4 wheel steer

    first twin motor rc

    first 4 wheel drive

    first SCALE monster truck

    first multi mode rc

yeah i would say it changed rc history

  • Thanks for posting this video! I had a Clod Buster back in the early 1990's and has hours upon hours of fun with it!

  • Wow this brings back memories. I actually havve a 87 clod, and another on my desk im working on itson a clodzilla chassis. The clod started the monster truck trend didnt it? I cant recall if it was first or not, but it is certainly one the most memorable trucks ever

  • whats the speed of a stock clod?

  • Aww..how cute it owns a lunchbox at 1:00

  • it's interesting to see the size comparison between the two. that lunchbox must be scared.

  • I guess the Lunchbox wasn`t running at full speed though. Lunchboxes are a little faster than the Clod. Like them both.

  • Are there many sticker kits to make it look like full sized monster trucks like USA-1, Excaliber or Samson?

  • Thank you for this wonderful video, this monster truck love me!

  • most popular RC vehicle of all time?

  • I was thinking the same thing. At least it has to be up there with the most sales. I would love to see the figures. I'm not sure if the Hornet still is the best selling of all time. I want to get one but my wallet said no!

  • It`s certainly the most popular rc monster truck in my opinion.

  • tamiya started rock crawling

  • gas?

  • my dad has one with upgraded shocks and i used to drive it when i was litte and it was really fun

  • sweet video where did you get it

  • WOW! I seen this video (& the others you have) years & years ago while at a model show!.

Ive got 2 vintage clodbusters, one from 1987 & the other from 1989, Both of them are fully working!.. One with very fast Trinity matched madness 16t motors in it! & the other with stock 540's in it.

  • I have the original all complete mint condition with owners manuel I love it !

  • are they hard to build? i wanna get one but never built an rc truck before

  • No just a take a while

  • Awesome truck, love mine and the Lunch Box

  • Like the part wenn the Clod Buster drives next to the smaller Lunchbox !!

  • im like onlyy 11 since i was 8 ive been wanting a tamiya drifting car for like $94 i got a zip zap, a jada, a micro t. i saved up my money plus the 3oo from the energy relif and bought a mini z 4wd subaru. Now i WILL buy a midnight pumpkin

  • i got a super clodbuster and it came with the vintage blower instead. but i think the vintage blower is beta looking than the newer one.

  • DUDE!!! Thank you for posting this! I wanted one of these so bad when I was like 10 years old but I never got one. I just recently found out that Tamiya still makes this model. I thought it had been completely discontinued. Now that I know that it is still in production I just have to have one. Damn, how the years have passed.

  • If you don't own one of the before you die.You will not lived a complete life!!!!

  • can you imagine how much this commercial would cost?!?

  • I can't think... Dollars. If not TENS of dollars.

  • hahaha what a doofus id love to have one though

  • i had the exact same clod buster as this. My dad gave it to me when i was about 5 or 6 and i sold it when i was 10 for like 100$ I wish i would have kept it...like seeing some of the RC trucks now holy they've came alone way. I wish I would have kept it :(

  • Hey if you think this is cheesy check out the Blackfoot video! Mr Dorkvoice is a legend!

  • i had the orinial clodbuster with a esc and dual dcell 4000MAH pack and a 4 channel radio with independant front and rear steering

  • wish i could get one

  • once again a very cheesy video.

  • sup nice vid on the clodbuster, good to see a true rc classic never dies.. I'm currently working on a custom chassi for my clod it's not much just some aluminum shelf rails and the bottom of the tube chassi and some ESP shock mounts with parma body mounts. It's going to be molded after Grave Digger 19. I'll most likely post videos of it soon....

  • Probably 20 years ago this was my first serious R/C. Regrettably it was expensive to maintain and costly when it broke (tub chassis had lots of faults) Not to mention I didn't know about threalock until I lost 1,000 screws but heck I learned alot on it as a young teen. My friends blackfoot wa fast and ran longer...a neighbor near us got hooked and bought a midnight pumpkin! When those cars stalled...I profited off their mistake by stompin all over them. Sloppy handling truck but what fun!

  • i got a hilux im looking for a clod or a blackfoot

  • i have a bullhead same truck diff body but mine has futabu radio and high torque servos and even 550 motors its sweet and its 1988...pimp

  • I have a Bullhead too, though it is currently in parts... I have D-Cell sized battery packs that extend run time to thirty minutes. I think I will get this truck running again for my three-year-old nephew to see.

  • Got it running after about ten hours of searching around and tinkering... Was running great until my idiot friend backed it into a fence... Now the rear gearbox is clicking and I bet some teeth are busted in there. Maybe it is time to do some upgrading, but this truck is great fun stock. I love the bounce.

  • def buying a super clodbuster

  • i dont need a clodbuster i got three

  • U lucky bughar. I wanted one but couldn't get 1 till Feb.

  • shit 1985 was weird

  • manual speed controller`s whack man. . .get an electric (Y)

  • I wanna that :D

  • oops only meant for one, this is my clod

  • wow this is from 2007.Its most likely an old video they just submitted it in 07

  • this is a clip from 1985

  • damn

  • The Super Clod is the same as the original. They probably make good money selingthem still because of all the mods out there. You can make some sick trucks. Check out JPS, Innerbecrew, etc.

  • Very true. Clodbusters are like Mustangs: there are pages full of aftermarket modifications.

  • Nice job. Got a Bullhead and the Super ClodBuster. Where did you grap the vid???

  • How do you like the Super Clod? Is it the same truck with cosmetic differences?

  • I used to have a Clod and tricked it out with a nice Bigfoot body. I started the two-wheel truck class in our area and dominated it first with a Blackfoot, then a RC-10 Truck conversion then a JRX-T. Then I started the 4X4 class with my Clod. I love the background music on this video.

  • I still have my Clod buster! Just got finished getting it ready to take a few monster runs! I remember the Blackfoot!! That was the best "truck for the buck" of its time. I had the most fun with that truck; out of the box that thing flew! It had a few problems , especially with the rear driveline, but it still was awesome! Do you still have the Blackfoot?

  • I think what EJRocky have is the Tamiya Clodbuster QD (Quick Drive) series. An entry level RTR R/C fleet of tamiya. They sometimes pop-up on ebay used or NIB. Very rare item.

I agree, Clod are one of the best R/C trucks of all time! Clod rulez!!!

Thank you for posting this vid marwankw.

  • i think the one that isnt a propper clod is a blackfoot, does it hav very hard tyres and a vry narrow rear gearbox with horizontal rear shox?

  • One of the best R/C trucks of all time!

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, the Clod was released in 1987.

  • So that's a proper Clod? What's mine then? It has the ClodBuster body, but only one shock per wheel and 2WD. Plus it has one of those big bullbars on the front. Help, anyone?

  • If Im right its a midnight pumkin or something based of that. Did it look like the lunchbox in the video? The yellow van.

  • Possibly. I couldn't see it well enough. If it's any help, it has no four wheel steering and it's RWD. Plus it says "Tamiya Quickdrive" on the top of the chassis if you take the body off. Confuses me that it has the Clod body, yet it's much smaller. I really don't know... at least it's still an RC truck! ;)

  • Quickdrive says it all. The Quickdrive models were smaller, cheaper and allready built from the factory. The Quickdrive Clod and the normal Clod are completely different.

  • That yellow dodge van in the video is the famous Lunch Box; its twin was the MIdnight Pumkin.

  • Excellent! I've never seen this promo vid before, thanks for posting it!
