@Mastermation I understand what your saying bro but remember its training for a street fight more of a chance of being attacked on the streets by an average psyco then by a pro mma fighter.
@JKDSTORM Well said my friend! I train in JKD as well, and my focus is strictly on self defense or strret fighting. Now I love MMA !love watching the theUFC! Im a decent stand up fighter, with a very basic ground game. There is no way I would last in a MMA match. But a street fight, or bar fight where im being attack. I have a very good chance No rules! Hail to the finger Jab, head butt& throat strikes!
@ajm222 I love mma to, Jkd focuses strictly for the streets both are great but also different and can't be compared, its like comparing a car to an airplane both will get you from point A to point B but are different and created for different reasons. hey thanks for the comment.
Against a trained good fighter may be able to take a back fist, but a finger jab is very very effective Ive seen several mma matches where a poke to the eye stops the fight or ends the fight.
Exactly JKD is geared more for the streets, if they allowed nasty techniques like that in mma, people would be losing eyes making it no longer a sport wouldn't be allowed on t.v. etc.
@mastermation The backfist is designed to shock/stun the opponent whilst setting up other punches. It catches people off guard as they do not expect it, at that moment the powerful punches do their damage! Even so the backfist can still cause damage and hurt (trust me, i know off experience lol)
@lukie69 Very true man you should always follow up after a strike leaving no time for recovery, and espeacially when you add in eye gouges and kicks to the groin etc.
Thanks Im sticking to the simple and direct now because its more to the point for the streets, the finger excersizes are important to you want to toughen your fingers, finger tip push ups on a hard surface is a good way to strengthen fingers.
absolutely bro. and the best thing is that it is non telegraphic since we do not need to bother about power. speed and accuracy is required. especially if facing multiple attackers.
is there any concept in JKD related to dealing with multiple attackers?
You asked against multiple attackers, honestly despite what some say your at a disadvantage now Im not saying you can't do nothing, but try to avoid that if possible or get out of there, but if you can't then eye jab, front kick to the groin, use quick foot work to avoid them surrounding you, attempt to make them have to go around each other to get to you buying you at least some time to land effective strikes, then get out of there at the first chance you get.
Hey JKDSTORM, I got your message. What I said before was that this is real JKD. My uncle trained with Bruce Lee in the 60s and he witnessed a fight between him and some racist jerk. It was done in only a few seconds! He faked a finger jab, gave him a low side kick and then a backfist. That's how real fights are. The first good hit wins the fight. People watch too much MMA and they think that's how street fights are. Not true. A good knee, groin shot, straight lead, etc. and he's done.
Thats so true real fights are not pretty like the movies Lol once you finger jabbed your opponent that fights either done or will be done soon especially if you follow up after that.
@hulkout666 FINALLY PEOPLE SPEAKING SENCE, AND I KNEW IT WOULD BE ON A JKD VIDEO! ALL TO OFTEN PEOPLE BELIEVE MMA TO BE AS IT IS IN THE "REAL WORLD" LIKE GUYS DIVE TO THEIR KNEES ON CONCRETE TO TRY AND TAKE SOMEONE DOWN LOL, WELL MAYBE THEY DO BUT THEY WILL BE ONES WHO LOOSE THE FIGHT! YOU HAVE SAID THE BASICS, BUT THE BASICS ARE THE MOST EFFECTIVE, AFTER ALL THAT'S HOW JKD CAME ABOUT! NO NEED FOR FANCIFUL MOVES WHEN THE BASIC MY STRAIGHT FORWARD MOVE IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE! CHECK OUT MY VID :-)
Very true in my opinion the Finger Jab is the best technique because its quick, non telegraphic, and most importantly it doesn't matter how big a person is, one good shot to the eye and the fights either over or will be over soon lol.
Good movement with the legs before hand trapping techinque .One thing I like about the finger jab it's always a good sneak on attack so if your opponent walks up with his guard down and he's either am uch bigger opponent or larger in size u can take away his eye sight. Then follow up with a back fist to the opponents head.Trust me it's a very good set up cause the hand is in a constant motion like but it's not telegraphic. It's like throwing a punch and closing the hand right before impact.
Nice channel man, i've got a channel dedicated to me practicing some jkd concepts ! keep it up

From down there you can generate more power and you can carry through their jaw if you throw your elbow using your shoulders instead of a backfist.

@Dshnizal15 Yup the back fist is just an option. hey thanks for the comment.

that's real JKD. 2 or 3 simple and direct moves and it's over. designed for street.
one question though, do i need to strengthen my fingers by exercises like finger pushups.
in case the finger may strike the opponents forehead.

hey, thanks mate. i'll include finger tip pushups in my routine.

Kool man the Finger jab is my favorite. its a fight stopper or will lead to the fight being over quickly.

You are right. I would use the most dangerous and nastiest techniques if multiple attackers came at me. No mercy
WestSideCoolidge 2 years ago
Yup and then get out of there the first chance you get.

u should strengthen ur fingers anyway for better grip and such
