This video actually gave me a ray of hope, but after researching it I discovered it's total BS. The Mi'kmaq language as shown above was actually adopted by missionary Chretien Le Clercq in the 17th century who combined mnemonics with their existing petryglyphic style in order to teach them the gospel (possibly Latin shorthand). These characters aren't found in any ancient Mi'kmaq glyphs, only post-17th century writings. Apologists: please do your homework before posting crap like this.

"There are impressive findings that make it difficult to explain away the BOM. SUCH EVIDENCE IS NOT "PROOF", BUT REPRESENTS INDICATIONS OF PLAUSIBILITY THAT DEMAND FURTHER ATTENTION." This means exactly what it says. There is nothing to prove the bom is true.. But they have some ideas that could possibly make it plausible.

All those sources you quote are nothing NEW..do you seriously think I was not aware of those? This video actually gave me a ray of hope, but after researching it I discovered it's total BS. The Mi'kmaq language as shown above was actually adopted by missionary Chretien Le Clercq in the 17th century who combined mnemonics with their existing petryglyphic style in order to teach them the gospel (possibly Latin shorthand). These characters aren't found in any ancient Mi'kmaq glyphs, only post-17th century writings. Apologists: please do your homework before posting crap like this.

@myway43 mormons claim the bom to be the only "correct" book. Therefore, the Bible is relegated to a secondary role in mormon teachings. Twistianity is employed in an attempt to make Bible passages somehow appy to mormon teachings. The bom is NOT scripture, and has NOT been accepted as such by ANYONE outside your church. @myway43 Checked out the web site you suggested. The first paragraph in the heading describing the web site CLEARLY says it all. "There are impressive findings that make it difficult to explain away the BOM. SUCH EVIDENCE IS NOT "PROOF", BUT REPRESENTS INDICATIONS OF PLAUSIBILITY THAT DEMAND FURTHER ATTENTION." This means exactly what it says. There is nothing to prove the bom is true.. But they have some ideas that could possibly make it plausible.

The Bible speaks of ancient cities and landscapes, that still exist to this day. The Bible has been used to help with information in archeological digs. Cultures, and languages from the Bible still exist to this day. Why can't ANY of this be said of the bom? Where is Zerehemla, and Bountiful?

However I do believe we have to do good works as well. I have the same beliefs as every other Christian does. As for using any "journal of discourses" or such thing..shame on you..you know that LDS theology is only based on the following:
The Bible
The Book of Mormon
The D&C
The PofGP
And General Conferance talks that eventually get sustained as revelation to be binding on the saints (i.e. The Proclamation to the World)
These are called the STANDARD WORKS - and if it doesn't come from any of these..then it is just speculation and "theory" - not doctrine nor binding on the saints.

Also, why is your church the only one with prophets? The next clown in line is a prophet because he's been there a long time, and knows how the corporation is run. It's called succession, and happens in ALL businesses. LDS incorporated has zero to do with theology. It is a corporation.

@imtherealthing The encyclopedia Americana will define a cult, and then name the mormon church. Christianity is the belief in Jesus and his teachings. The mormons DEPEND on the ambiguity written into the First Testament to twist passages for their use. The new testament and Gospels about the life of Jesus remove many of these ambiguities. However, your church continues to try and convince it's members based on the Old Testament. Why? Because then it seems that they have the answers.

@imtherealthing The Trinity is an attempt to explain God for the lay person. It was decided at the conference you mentioned, that this was the best method to explain it. A young Friar actually coined the phrase, and it was accepted. It is merely a generic term. It is however, a Christian Only concept, and is not accepted by non Christians. You are showing you true colors by dismissing this theology, and attempting to replace it with joes theology.

Silly man..the Godhead was debated for "CENTURIES" because most thought it was three GODS but they needed to explain it in the context of Judasim. That was thier problem..for Judaism had only accepted complete monotheism in thier captivity in Babylon. Had those people then known what we know today of the history of the Judaism's shift from Polytheism to Henotheism and then much later into Monotheism they would not have errred in making the trinity..silly man.

All those sources you quote are nothing NEW..do you seriously think I was not aware of those? Compare those FEW scriptures with the ENTIRE Bible where you see "Jesus" say things like "My Father is Greater than I"..or "I go to MY God and YOUR God" or when we see Stephen being stoned to death and he looks up and sees BOTH the Father and the Son, or at Jesus' baptism ALL THREE were present etc, etc..in context those ONE God scriptures refer to the Father - that is who we pray to.

I called the museum in temple square and spoke to a "guide" who then let me speak to her "superior," She told me "at this time there is NO display of a box which contained the plates" However, she said she's been told the church has a box they think might be the box, and it is being examined by "scholars" to prove it's authenticity. The Holy Ghost teaches us TRUTH ...it is revelation..we are instructed by a member of the Godhead..not by man's own learning..we LDS put our trust in God. How would you try to show a Moslem that the Bible is the WORD of GOD?..one would need to have him/her READ it and PRAY about it..and it would be GOD in the end by the Holy Spirit that would convert that person..as is the case with the Book of Mormon.

That is the exact same question posed to the Latter-day Saints when anti-mormons deny that the modern prophets and apostles are not who they claim to be. I know the prophets and apostles of the Bible are what they claim by the Holy Ghost.
