  • Your facial expressions is the best part of this video.

  • wow nice job

  • nice drumming!!!!!

  • great job!!

  • Awesome 5/5

  • pretty good cover, man. i want a masters maple with that same emerald fade finish

    its beautiful.

  • dude if you tuned your toms low it would sound amazing

  • Check out my newest video of the same song. The toms are mic'd and it sounds much better. Believe it or not it's the same tuning as this video.

  • this is SOOO AWSOME you are one of the best drummers in youtube, how long you play ? how much the entire set cost to you ?

  • Thanks man!

I've been playing for 7 or 8 years. This set cost me alot... Close to $6,000. I won't be getting another one for a long time.. haha.

  • nice, i dont have my own drums but i play in my church worship team, and the drums there are handmade custom Gabriel, with 8'', 10'', 12'' tom toms, and 14'' flor tom, 2x16'' crash handmade instambul and a 20'' ride, its awsome with awsome hardwares, but i like yours better, the church's one costs near 7k euro, and i think your is WAAAY BETTER

  • Wow that sounds like a pretty sick drum set too. Keep playing man.

  • yeah it is, but i have problems with tuning it, and this way i cant get the full potencial out, need a china too :D

  • I have an updated cover of this song now. I got some mics and a mixer and it sounds much better. I'll be recording plenty more in the near future.

  • I ordered drums like your (Masters premium birch) and I was wondering, do they come with tom holders, i dont mean the optimounts I mean the things that are attached to the rack

    thanks

  • They did not come with the tom holders. I had to order those all separately with the rack. I think they were about $15 -20 each. Same with the cymbal holders. Hope you like the kit man.. I love mine. The only thing that sucks is that after you place the order, you usually don't see your drums before six months!

  • what kind of cymbals are those? they sound pretty good

  • All Sabian AAX cymbals. The little splash is a Mike Portnoy signature splash, and the crash on my left is a Dark crash I think.

  • you need more cymbals

  • I got some now.

  • A! FINALLY a drummer who deserves a big mighty kit like you have :D I admire your skills! I'm seeing theese guys live in Septemper and I'm going to the meet and greet where I'll get to meet Portnoy!! :D:

  • Thanks man ! Yeah, meeting the band is awesome. Portnoy is my idol so it was pretty amazing talking to him. Have fun at the meet and greet. Hopefully I can catch them on this tour.. the new album is sick!

  • nicely done.

  • anyone who can play any DT song this good has clearly risen above us mortal men!

  • so ill dude.

  • thats a sick drumset... what is it?

  • Thanks dude. It's a Pearl Master's Premium with all Birch drums except for the snare, which is Maple. The color is emerald fade.

  • good couple parts that are wrong but good just look @ 2:10 thats the most obvious one. and 6:40 he plays low grace notes and 16th note patterns inside the beat. but other wise man pretty good.

  • Thanks man. Yeah i know i didn't play it exactly like Portnoy, which was intended (except for the 2:10 part which I did mess up on). I did some other improvised fills that Portnoy doesn't play on the song.. just having fun with it.

  • very nice....

  • Very well done, dude. You're talented, and you perform it like Portnoy, the influence is there.. when you start hitting your head with your hand and drumsticks, then you'll be like him! lol

  • Thanks for the compliments. I just ordered a recording system with some mics, so I'm hoping to get some better quality recordings out soon. I'm planning on covering some other bands.

  • good job, buddy. its good to see someone play a decent cover of this tune. they never quite get the start right, timing wise

  • Thanks andy, it's definitely not one of Dream Theater's hardest songs, but there are still some very difficult parts to get right.

  • dont like your toms at all. love the way you play though, very passionate player haha.

  • Thanks dude, yeah I'm trying to find a comfortable positioning for my toms... I still haven't quite gotten the right feel for them yet.

  • I think he meanss he doesn't like your tuning ?

    I also think they're a little to high-tuned.

But thats personally though. Nice playing as well. btw is that a pearl masterworks or masters ?

  • Yeah the camera doesn't do the toms justice haha... They are tuned a little high though. I'd tune them lower but I don't get good stick rebound when their tuned low. I'm trying to find just the right feel. The drums are Masters Premium.

  • Oh ok, maybe you can experiment with the resonant heads. tune the batter heads higher to have a pretty good rebount and lower the resonant heads.. then just see what sound you like but i prefer it LOW ^^ so powerful then

  • great work!

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

  • Awsome job.And what kind of snare drum are you using.

  • Thanks guys, and I am using Pearl Masters Premium drums. All drums are birch except for the snare, which is maple.

  • Thats cool.I am getting a drumset like yours.

  • Wow, this is really good ^_^

  • you have the best facial expessions. good cover.

  • Nice

  • yo i'm diggin the color of that kit. sound is great too

  • awesome! Your drum set is pretty much the best color ever too

  • WOW.

if you ever stop drumming for anyreason, the atmosphere will cease to exist.

    we will all die!

    amazing job!

  • Awesome drumming man!!! You did it very well.

I've got a masters premium too and I want to make a video too for a long time.

  • Holy crap, those are some awesome drums! I haven't seen them in person yet. But they sound drummy and loud, which is cool. I can't believe you actually covered something by Mike Portnoy. I didn't think it was humanly possible. Then again, you aren't really human.

Looking forward to more kick-pedal action and part 2!
