I agree 100% with the so-called "headline" news. I like to get my news from google news, and just click on the "world" news. Even if they're stories about the Syrian uprising, it's better than watching garbage about Paris Hilton.
It's all escape, Demcad. Escape isn't just drugs or sitting in a bar going brain-dead drinking whiskey. Escape is also watching brain-dead television shows. All kinds of activity from gossip to golf can be escape too> from: What's been done to us, What we have done to others, What we have done to ourselves.
Ultimately, all escape is a turning away from our lives & from God.
The media is dumbing us down so that we don't see what the powers that be are doing to this country. It's just another form of mind control. If they keep us in the dark, then we are powerless to take action against them.

Here in the UK our media is pretty much heading the same way. Even the BBC treats a story about a footballer having an affair as being headline news. Sport is NOT news, who someone is shagging is NOT news (unless they're in politics). The only time sport becomes news is in cases like the 1980 Olympic boycott and the 1984 boycott by the Soviets.
I don't watch the BBC news any more, it's too superficial in its analysis.
The newspapers aren't any better, most are just "lifestyle comics".
Hi Demcad, what about Russias new missile shield? Did you saw what Russian president said about deploying tought countermeasures and striking system if their signa won't be heard. Quite a big part of Europe is dependent on gas and oil from Russia I actually think if Russians copyed USA in defence shield they can copy West in putting sanctions. Russians can switch the gas and oil pipeline like they did last year and millions will be affected in central Europe especially now in the winter.

Ya, I got rid of my tv 6 years ago. I had a tivo and would record the news then when I'd get home I'd fast forward through the sports, the commercials, the weather and the useless fluff. Most of the time I'd end up at the end of the broadcast without even watching anything.
If there is anything on tv that I want to watch, I get it elsewhere.

French TV news is at 8 pm nightly for an hour and there are about 7 minutes of news. Guess why we have no TV here in France? Also, the TV tax is high here, and in general, the programming is crud. What is even "news" is often PR. I know it cuz I used to work in that area. I used to see almost no international news in the USA and here in France, it's about the same. This being said, I thought the TV in Turkey was very good, so go figure!

The people out shopping on black Friday buying gifts increased not because people have more money it was because they are desperate to get the most for what little money they do have. I have 2 kids and like most parents want them to enjoy their childhood and not have worries about money and their future even though I worry about it every day. If a few hundred spent on plastic bs makes them happy so be it. If you had kids you'd understand.
