  • Jose Mendez

  • thanks! I just corrected it :)

    Saludos

  • this is awesome!!!!!! thanks Ney

  • seems to be canjengue!interesting!

  • Amazing energy, those people were having fun and it shows. Banlun, I think tango still is in the slums of the city (more or less). What makes it "grand" is that more and more people are making a living out of it, that's ok, luckily there are plenty of dancers who truly love tango with enough passion not to care either way.

  • I was ignoring the names of those Los Mendez? Do you have more information on them?

Arolas died in 1924. This movie is tracking the atmosphere of the two first decades of the XXth century when tango was more or less in the slums of the city. According to me, this dancing estilo is mainly canyengue. It raises the question of how it evolved to be the grand affair of to-day. But one may observe that it is a staged tango.

  • wonderfull piece....lots to think about!Thanks Ney!

  • Interesting to see the evolution in tango...despite our efforts to keep it "pure"...thanks for posting!

  • 1951 ?
