Tickets are not sold to/from Newhaven Marine anymore, therefore there is no eligibility for a taxi service to Harbour. The poster says you need a valid ticket from Marine to use the 'replacement taxi' service.
The only reason they do this is to avoid the expensive and time comsuming process of closing the station to passengers! I.e printing closure notices ,public hearings, hiring of lawyers etc etc! The service still runs but if you insist on wanting to use it ,a taxi will be provided ! a much cheaper alternative!
Top video that 5 star, i've known about this Station for a while and always thought it was in the middle of nowhere / nightmare to get to etc. Didnt realise it was that close to the other one there are loads of these stations around the country that get a very limited service some only one a week for more info check out my site for a comprehensive list with pictures of some of the North West / North East ghost stations
nah, it's a parliamentary. it's more cost effective to run a ghost train in once a day rather than go through the costly procedure of actually closing the line and the station.
we actually spoke to the driver, and he says that sometimes it's useful to use as a reversing point, because the line after Newhaven Town going down to Seaford is single track with no reversing point.
I assume it is shunting into the sidings for a service which terminates up the tracks and then changes tracks at Marine for the return. Seems fairly logical, they just can't be bothered to maintain a station which is so close and doesn't have much demand.
Thank you for sharing this with us,I have known about ghost trains but this is a new one. Vicky & Geoff rock !

excellent video, I may have to lock myself in the train toilet at Newhaven so to stay on the train into Marine. ;-)
