Interestingly enough, one time I showed my friend a beautiful bookmark I had of Muruga, and right away my friend asked me, "Dude, is this the Indian representation of Jesus, God's DIRECT son?" ...I wasn't sure what to say because in Sanatana Dharma we have to pray to Ganesha first (as no prayer can reach any Gods without first going through Siva's son Ganesha). But Muruga IS DIRECTLY from Siva, whereas Vinayaka was from Parvati. Yet Siva-Sakti is One. So I was lost for words and could not reply!

He is not son of Agni or anything.Its your stories to bring saivam under vaishnavam and call everything as hinduism - making marriages between saivam Gods and Vaishnavas. Murugan was a siddhar, from 6th Light which is called Tephireth in Jewish. The hexagram of Murugan symbolises that and the six temples built for him is for that.
