  • Hendry will always be the greatest for me... He was a dominating machine when i fell in love with snooker...

  • Its a shame the real Steven Hendry was abducted by Aliens in 2000 and the Cabbage Impostor was left to take his place.

  • 10:44 whoever said snooker was for young people lied!

  • stephen hendry is a phenomenon jackasses! fucking ronnie can't tip on him loser!!

  • What talent - Stephen Hendry, youngest ever World Champion and joint world record holder of 147 breaks (10 in total!) - WOW!!!!

  • NUGGET !

    Thats what mkes sports fun

An how many liters of beer is consumed is snooker England....?

    Nugget

  • snooker loopy!

  • @sdfghnnbb ronnie and drug ?

  • @sdfghnnbb They are both much more professional than ronnie, but the point is that i think ronnie is the less professional player across the ranking. However, in my opinion, O'Sullivan playing at his highest level can play better than Hendry and White, that is why he is so loved, not because of his head but because of his skill to play amazingly nice and develop the table as he is playing, that is really insuperable.

  • @RHalford92 your forgetting todays players have adopted their playing style from stephen hendry including o'sullivan, hendry changed the game, thats the reason why you see a lot of century breaks, stephen deserves the credit he bought to the game. The game before him was harder because it involved defensive play. He was just a genius of the game, hence why he was consistant and genius of the game. The english are jealous of him. plus he has a handsome face, he had it all unlike steve davis.

  • i love the asian guy getting his 2 cents in at the end :)

  • Hendry clearly fouls at around about 10.37, but the ref bottled it and didnt call the foul because Hendry was on a 147.

  • @SuplimeSupper where was the foul? blue to pink?

  • @SuplimeSupper That's not a foul

  • @SuplimeSupper Are you blind or just jealous that Stephen Hendry is the best snooker player of all times

  • @SuplimeSupper Look at the position of the blue and pink before that shot. the blue was BEFORE the pink, so hitting the pink first is impossible.

  • stephen hendry is the greatest all-time player ever, although there are now more fabulous players out there like higgins, trump,o sullivan, dott and ding etc.

But stephen's records speak for themselves, he is the greatest we have ever seen and a true gent of the game, let us not forget steve davis, a brilliant player, second in world titles only to hendry, and also a true gent.

Although o sullivan is very talented and a great trickster player, he has not been a true gent like hendry and davis.

  • I'd love to be this good.

  • hendry o cara joga muito o melhor de todos os tempos

  • at 5:06 theres a bomb waiting to go off

  • the only reason why this era looks strong is because theres hasn't been anyone as great as hendry to imulate him. sullivan hasn't dominated 2000 era's, he won 3 wc titles every 3 or 4 years, thats not dominating.

  • Hendry started the attackin style of play, thats how higgins and players now got that inspiration from. people say 90s era was weaks, but its not true because only reason it looked weak is because hendry was soo good, like barcelona today. ronnie, higgins already peaked after 1994 by winning some tournaments. but those players had to wait to shine till hendry got older.

  • great 147 chcek out on mine canal latest 147 from s. hendry

  • hendry is a monster, he'll be back for a world title, it's in the mind

  • good 147

  • That was the most difficult 147 ive seen.. at almost every point I thought he couldn't possibly make it...

  • Pity the nip's commentating as well. Shut the **** up!!!!

  • That's not Japanese...at all.

  • You notice here that he never looks about at any other ball or even thinks hes going to miss back then now you see it in his eyes when hes potting, really sad wish he could just win it one more time and retire

  • @cjnovo15 that would be good. always thought he was the best of all time but like u say, there isnt that steely look in his eye anymore.

  • Stephen was simply imperious at this time.

  • That was brilliant.

  • how young was he here?? and which was the worlds first 147?? I wanna see it lol

  • how young was he here??

  • @qustav37 he was born in 69 as he is 41 now, so in 95 he was 25/26

  • this guy doesn't know the meaning of pressure at all

  • Clive, it was in fact 3 years ago (at the time of this match). Jimmy made the mazimum in 1992 lol. I'm sure Clive won't read this lol

  • Great 147 by stephen, thanks for uploading

  • cool, calm & collective...

  • I got a 147 the other day. Or was it a 47?

  • holy fuck that last black showed what kind of class he was in !! not many players would have made that shot in that pressure situation !!

  • Hendry awesome player - spent force in the 2000's though

  • 好惡既147,好強既Hendry

  • awesome player !!!

  • Every 147 break must have at least one lucky shot... Even though I knew he will make that 147, I had some chills in my stomach... :D

  • wtf Jimmy White is smoking in the play room?

  • @Teqo7 this was 15 years ago dumbass. rules about smoking were very lax back then.

  • @wvb93 oh sorry "dumbass"... Didnt know that. You should use more polite language...

  • @Teqo7 well you should think before talking.

  • @Teqo7 Yes they were, the bans on tobacco advertising came around the turn of the century. I'm a non smoker and I reckon it's bollocks that you can't smoke in pubs anymore

  • Was Jimmy White sitting there smoking? Were they allowed to do that in 1995?

  • what an incredible peformance this is! unbelievable..

  • *Hendry. How dare I make a typo on the great mans name!

  • Jimmy White is better than Hendry,In my opinion.

  • @NAMTRIP ah right, that's why Hendy has 7 world championships and more century breaks than any other player in the history of the game. Ya fucking bell-end!

  • @SaltireBlaze2 Why did he put a pause in his backswing, there was nothing wrong with his cue action....he was winning everything.....and now with the pause...well it's not going well!!! I think he should go back to his old cue action! But yea he's the best ever,no doubt about that!

  • @1THETRUTH10 I don't think the pause has helped (his cue action was silky smooth before) but I believe his problem now is more mental than anything else. Winning can't mean everything (even if he says it does) at this stage of his life than it did at his prime. I hope he has another world championship in him tho. I wouldn't write him off yet.

  • @SaltireBlaze2 Yea I would love to see him get one more world title!! As for the mental side of things,I think he does lose concentration more often these day,but Im sure deep down he knows he's got the game to start winning trophies again! They say he still plays well in practice......but I wonder if he changed back to his former cue action, would that maybe help??

  • Bogdychamp. Hendry is the greatest snooker player ever. Boring? He is arguably the most attacking player too hence 750 100 breaks. Winning is what counts and so what if he practised 25 hours a day. If Ronnie had Hendrys mental strenght and will to win he could have won 12 World Championships.

  • Superb player, great to have witnessed his domination in the 90s. One of the best no doubt!

  • 5.06 lol

  • it's so amazing that this players have some kind of expiring date, while davis was the best at the 80's hendry at the 90's and o'sulliven at the 2000's i think hendry had the longest period of time as the best, hence he's probably the best.

  • @nomorephones 7 world titles 6 masters = the greatest end of debate

  • Wow, the young blond guy seems to be quite good at snooker

  • For sure the best snooker player in the world. Hendry and Davis are the best.

  • Yellow to green was a bit nervy :)

  • what a fail he sucks

  • hendry is the greatest ever.

ronnie has the chance to become the greatest ever but has a long way to go.

    BIG difference there!

  • what is it with the ronnie c@ck suckers. Just because Hendry supposedly practiced more or wanted to win more it diminishes his great career. Players like Woods, Jordan, Gretzky etc. were all the same which is why they are considered the greatest in their sport. You guys are getting greatest natural player confused with Greatest ever Period. Stephen Hendry's accomplishments speak for itself.

  • hedry is without a doubt the greatest snooker player ever(and i am not a huge fan of his) but even ronnie admits this.Ronnie can play outstanding snooker but hendry at his peak played outstanding far more often than o'sullivan who has always been way more inconsistent.

  • Finally a smart person. Great comment.

The person with the most titles in a sport,in this case snooker , isn't the best ever. Hendry and Steve Davis were obsessed with winning, that's why they have won so much.

Ronnie O'Sullivan is the best snooker player in history, but certain events in his life have kept him from winning more titles ; his dad going to jail beeing one of them.

Alex " Hurricane" Higgins was a drunk , a womanizer and also a gambling man, but at his best he was better than Davis

  • I remember this, Hendry showed amazing nerve to sink that last black. That would have been a tough shot in any situation but as the final shot in a 147 the pressure was huge. Great pot.

  • the way hendry copes under pressure is phenomenal. he almost plays the same whether hes on the black of a 147 or in a casual exhebition he always acts the same. =)

  • Its not far off Ronnies speed. Davis puts John higgins & Ronnie above Hendry. I really think people have forgotton how good Hendry was

  • davis is absolutely correct. and unlike you, he knows what he is talking about.

  • @jpjames1 Davis is a dick, he's just pissed that Stephen broke all of his records.

  • terrorists at 5:04 be carefull

  • It looks like people trying to impersonate terrorists. LOL! I swear those mustaches are fake.

  • calm down calm down

  • Best Snooker Player In The World!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MRoOnOo i still back ronnie, no pissing around, get em in the pocket and get out, although his performance is rather erratic but when he's on he's on

  • @MRoOnOo my friend the best snooker player in the world is ronnie o'sullivan by far!

  • @VillaMercedesAthens1 my friend the best snooker player in the world is STEPHEN HENDRY by far!

  • @VillaMercedesAthens1 actually the best is john higgns if you look at the rankings:P

  • @ShedRule1 we are talking about who is the best snooker player of all time!!!!!!!!not this moment!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @VillaMercedesAthens1 my friend to be the best u need to show achievement, hendry dominated over decade, what did ronnie do? noway is any player come close to hendry, hendry 1st modern player to make snooker so popular.

  • @VillaMercedesAthens1 clueless

  • that maximum was so much more difficult than o sullivans whiz bang one in 5 minutes.

  • in terms of achievements, hendry own's o'sullivan

  • i think he will surpass soon

  • what a kind of bullshit you have said here?!?!?!He did not touch the ball in 100%,so shut your motherfucking mouth!!!

  • who the fuck are u motha fucker damn ass shit stupid ass fuck

  • get your tiny minds around this - there are many millions of people, outside of your insignificant lives, who enjoy watching snooker. Not all of these people speak English.

give it 10 years and these "japs" are going to be running the snooker world.

  • Comment removed

  • @keo82 well said!

  • @keo82 9 more to go, hopefully your dead by then!

  • just set your main volume balance on left and presto. no more japs lol

  • get your languages right champion theyre chinese not japanese

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sublime

  • Well that wouldve been great if it wasnt for some other language in my other ear that i didnt understand,Good break though Hendry

  • Why is there some japs jabbering in the bckground? Its quite offputting

  • it's mandarin, you ignorant cunt.

  • Too many high breaks? Too much pot pot pot? Boring?

Ok. How about reshaping the pockets slightly so they don't take the balls so well? This would mean fewer high breaks resulting in more SAFETY play, closer scores, more tension and more excitement. The modern game has changed so much and although players are making higher breaks more consistently, this is not so good for competition and viewer involvement. I would like to see more 'battles' between players and more strategy. Anyone?

  • wrong, becayse they have reshaped the pockets as you suggested, but today quality is freakin awesome!

  • No high breaks is good why would anyone not want to see a 147?? Everyone is trying to change snooker if you want a faster more exicting sport its called pool

  • Why did you have to compare this to O'sullivan plumddvp?, O'sullivan nailed his 147 in with ease so clearly had all what Hendry had here & a lot more, Without the need for hardly any chalk tells me his accuracy/consistency was pretty good especial cos he got the worlds fastest 147

  • why so serous about a game of pool?????//

  • i envy his talent

  • terrible break from jimmy.

  • Boring, too many maximums, nothing to get excited about, once the new grey ball is introduced it will be a completly different game, the ball will be worth 8 points and will go on the old brown spot, theyre not sure where to put the new brown spot, but the new maximum will be 170, very challinging, dont think the players will even bother with it, long overdue, the wpbsa are thinking of removing 5 reds of the table as well, as 100 plus breaks are boring as well.

    Bring it on

  • there's already a game called snooker-plus, which was patented by joe davis, and it has an orange ball (8 points) and a purple ball (10 points) although it never really took off, because the idea is SHIT!

  • The table looks slower and pokets look bigger than nowadays..

  • ever heard of newer cameras ??? ... these days cameras ae better then 20 years ago

  • if the tables slower then that would make it tougher mate

  • im just saying that it looks slower u dum shit besides if ur used to playing on a slow table then why would it be tougher reply when you have an ounce of intelligence about snooker

  • ill tell u why mate... its cos u have to hit the ball harder to get the position u want. with these pros a slow big pocketed table and a fast small pocketed table kinda get evened out

  • lol

  • That's one hell of a final black.

  • Stephen Hendry awesome

  • Jimmy white is good.. it was just a mistake to start off clear for him.

  • agreed...and stephen hendry was just too good here..

  • unreal

  • good play

  • Like anyone I have loved watching Ronnie when he 'is on' ... simply amazing. If I had to choose the best player of all time... it's close in my mind, Higgins, Davis, Hendry, O'Sullivan, but I have to say Hendry. He was so consistent for so long and taught us all how to play better. I will never tire of watching his brilliance!

  • Hendry is the most consistent because he's obsessed with winning.

As for the best ever it's Ronnie "The Rocket " O'Sullivan by far ,followed by Alex "Hurricane" Higgins and Jimmy "Whirlwind" White.

Stephen Hendry and Steve Davis are boring. They only played to win , that's why they have so few fans.

  • i got a 147 the other day. great game golf aint it !

  • Brilliant !

  • I was on a 147 the other day, potted a red and a black!

  • Haha isnt it allways the case you pot the first black and then your nerves take over on the second black lol!!

  • expierence i spose

  • in all history of this tournament, only !!!3!!! players were able to make that 147 break. It doesn't happen a lot, trust me ;)

  • Well that's a lie.

This was true back in 1995. Nowadays it's more common. Almost every ranking tournement a 147 is scored by a player.

Last years WC even had two.

    So, no, i don't trust you. ;)

  • well, in that case I owe you an appologie. I don't really follow all the snooker tournaments, i just catch a couple matches here and there on tv so i don't really have the global image.

  • That isn't true at all. First 147 in a professional tournament was in 82, there have been 68 after that. So over roughly 30 years there's been 69. sure they're more common now, but not quite 1 every ranking tournament. 6 players have made 147s at the world. A lot of the 147s have been made by the same people, Hendry, O'sullivan, Higgins, etc.

  • Comment removed

  • sorry rouncer and pablo i poor commented by mistake!i agree! lol

  • hendry is the best! 700 + centurys ...100 at the crucible,9 147s in competition..pure domination in the 90,s..Ronnie is extremely talented alright(playing with both hands) but hes a loose cannon...overall Hendry is King...

  • yet somehow Ronnie has more wins in those Hendry vs ;O Sullivan matches ;)

Hendry was the king... he dominated the game in his prime and he was/is a pleasure to watch. Same goes for Ronnie. He is not that consistent but when he's interested enough to play - and i mean really play - there's no match for him out there.

Having said all that, i feel extremely lucky that i was able to see both playing :D They've offered the public some amazing moments that will never be forgotten ;)

  • stephen hendry is the the most prolific snooker player the world has ever seen. perhaps not the most talented, but talent is widespread, its a question of what you do with it that really counts. ronnie had the potential to become the next stephen hendry as stephen became the next steve davis, but ronnie is immature and lacks the drive and nerve to be remembered as hendry will. hendrys victories throught the 90's will will be remebered for all time.

  • Raw talent, blah, blah, blah, blah. Hendrys trophy collection speaks for itself. O'Sullivan isnt even in his league. The man is a winner and thats what counts at the end of the day, not jazzy shots that entertain the public.

  • he has been a fantastic ambassador for this sport great to see him doing it again just hope it is appreciated as he is the best player ever full stop

  • hendry totally revolutionised the way snooker is played

hendry has won 7 world titles to ronnie's 3

hendry has the bottle and the mindset, ronnie doesn't

hendry is the best there has ever been, no argument

    doesn't matter about 'natural talent'

    hendry will be remembered

  • Quote Stephen Hendry after his defeat at the World Snooker Championship08, "O'Sullivan is the best player in the world by a country mile"

He is a very popular English player and is noted for being a 'showman'. He is perhaps the biggest draw in the game today, and has helped improve the image of snooker to the general public O'Sullivan himself has stated his desire for entertaining the watching public, and said that slow, gritty games put viewers off.

  • you have proved nothing

there is no doubt that ronnie was and probably still is the best player in the world.

but hendry is by far the best player to have ever lifted a cue. The amount of titles and cenutries cannot be matched, even by "natural talent"

  • Hendry sucks. Who has more fans , you idiot ?

Ronnie is the best ever, Hendry is only the most succesfull.

Ronnie's dad went to jail when he Ronnie was 16.That and several other problems have prevented him from winning as much as he should have won.

Ronnie at his best is above Hendry at his best. That's how you can see who is the best, by comparing them at their best.

When Ronnie is in the right mood , he' s so good that the rest don't matter.

  • @bogdychamp seeing that all your posts are being negatively viewed sort of hints you know nothing xD.

Ronnie at his best beats Hendry at his best? i doubt it but its never happened. but that doesnt make Ronnie better because Hendry dominated snooker to an unbelievable level for nearly a decade. Ronnie cant keep off the drink long enough to become a force like that.

  • @jimmbobb92 ... hendry dominated the ray reardon dominated 60-70s.. davis dominated late 70-80s.. hendry dominated 90s and now o'sullivan dominates... snooker isnt snooker without him tbh

  • very brave to take on a half distance red with awkward bridging - what a guy!

  • You mean : what a poor positional play. He lost the white ball back there.

  • ronnie may never eclispe hendrys sucses but ronnie is without no doubt the most talented player to play the game , just a shame his mind is away with the fairys at times.

  • Away with the fairies haha

  • THE GREATEST.

  • o my daiz he did it again! there has over 60 147's and 9 of them belong to hendry. top quality.

  • He did it again!!!

  • Stephen Hendry is the Greatest Player of Snooker. This will be eclipsed by somone else maybe...

Ronnie 'The Beebs Darling' O'Sullivan will not achieve Stephen's greatness.

    There is no comparison....

  • You're right, douglas. O'Sulivan without doubt has the raw talent, but he will never be as great a COMPETITOR as Hendry. Hendry had the balls, the nerve, and the mental strength which O'Sullivan will never have.

  • ronnie and hendry in there primes, hard call.. would be the best match ever, cant choose between them, both best that will ever be.

  • jimmy's smoking.....

  • the good ole days...

  • hendry greatest of all time at his best no one could touch him not even ronnie, he never used to give a chance 2 his opponents

  • i will be ur student very soon.i will come to ur country and get the teaching of snooker
