Yes that's sick ! No replacement for displacement ! Fuck that hamster wheel wankel she came with. And I was a certified rotary mechanic for years I worked on them they suck .
It's not still on jacks. This video is just from the first time I ever got the engine running. I've put over 8K miles on it since this vid was taken. I need to put a new one up :-)
All you idiots on here whoa are talking trash on his motor swap, get out of here! I am an 89' Rx-7 owner and am planning on doing an LS1 swap sometime in the near future as well. It's a more reliable motor than the Rotary. I'm not hating on the rotary, I'm just saying that it's retarded to sit here and talk trash when a stock LS motor can push a ton more horse out than a stock rotary. SWEET SWAP!
oki its 2nd time im gonna say this . ppl who tinks its more reliable is becoz they r retards when comes to fixing/tuning rotary fullstop . there is nothing more to say
yap they are usually rebuild at 50000 miles . proof ? i did not mention rotary is more reliable than a V engine . im juz sayin tat if u tink V engine is more reliable than rotary , then u r obviously a noob when tuning a rotary . plus , all engines are equally as good . seriously man , i have heard wankers complain about rotary easily hot , bla bla , etc2 , load of rubbish . come on face the reality . a good mechanic noes tat . coz im sick of hearing ppl change to V becoz of complaining about
i agree.. i have a 93' FD rx7.. rotary's are garbage.. one of the best cars in the world, and u go and put a car that cant even get 60,000 miles on it w/out rebuilding it, or everytime u take it out to have fun, u have to been cautious not to blow out an apex seal.. lets see u Rev Up to 3500-4000 and take off on a rotary engine, i promise u cant do it, w/out throwing out an apex seal.. but a V8.. no problem!.. *im going 323 turbo* =)
Rx7 and badass looking car and great weight distribution. Hey what car did they pick the V8 to be in. Hahaha! An Imported Car!!!!! I own a modded 93 Twin Turbo and hauls ass!!!! Runs 11's and the 13B's are great...most people do not know how to work on them. They are very easy to take care of and need regular oil changes and simple mods to gain some massive power. I like my ROTARY the way it is.....a collector already and very UNIQUE which is why I will keep it.
what a shame.. simply disgusting!!! do not critize the rotary engine if you have no knowledge on how to build a reliable rotary engine. I have build tons of Xtremely powerful reliable rotary engines. your swap is simply wrong!!!
LOL, and how long did those rotary engines you built last though? I have a 400+hp motor that is as reliable as anything on the road. You're just plain ignorant.
go check one of my videos and you will see a 1987 red turbo II Rx7 that I build the engine back in 1997. it's running a very aggresive streetport, dynoed 356rwhp@ 12 pounds of boost, the owner of the car beats the living crap out of that car every single day and guess what? 10 years later, that engine is still running strong, I haven't torn the engine apart since 1997!! you call me ignorant! your just plain clueless.
you are right, i dont know the weight of your V8 but i know the 13B is unreliable. i'm thinking of importing 02 RX7 from japan and i'm doing a lot of research about the engine. despite the fact, i dont like the swap, i realy apritiate your work. could you tell me the weight difference between these two engines?
props again, but i would keep the rotary. i think puting V8 in RX7 is not a good idea. it is destroying the ca completely. no 50/50 weight distribution anymore, no light nose and nible handling. but as far as you like it, i wish you and your car good luck ;)
LOL you're clearly not very knowledgable about the swap. The 50/50 weight distribution IS maintained, handling is not effected, and no weight is gained. The all aluminum GM LS motors are incredibly light. The TT rotary in the FD Rx7 is one of the most unreliable motors ever built. I like to drive my sports car, not keep putting new motors in it. Check out hinsonsupercars . com for info and statistics on the swap or v8rx7forum . com.
I have a mid 11 second capable quarter mile car with world class handling to accompany it that is every bit as reliable as any new Corvette for under 20 grand total. There are few options on the planet that can compare in performance for the money
That is fucking sick. I am a hard core Rotary engine person, I love the Rx-7 and had one for years, so it ticks me off a little to see an American motor in that car, but that is still sick what you did. Holy crap.
cmon man a big block in a japanese rx-7 body rules it settles the dispute between tuners and domestics because powah in the hood with awesome japanese suspension
that's pretty sweet... for an abomination

I love both LSX series engines as well as the 13b, but it's their car and they can do with it what the like.
Plus LS engines are far more reliable than a 13B

Interesting considering even well maintained, non-modded wankels in the RX-7 are usually replaced at 50,000miles or earlier..
where is your proof that a rotary is more reliable?

it just pisses me off. sorry dude but that engine sounds like empty bottles rattling. good job on swap anyway ;)

That's because it was the first time being cranked and had fully open headers. The car is as quiet as a stock Corvette now.

It's not the 454 LS6, it's the 346ci LS6 in the Z06 corvette, which is rated at 405hp.
