  • the look on his face @ 5:43 is priceless

  • Moldover, you are my new obsession.

  • What software is that?

  • sooooooooooo stupid

  • holy shit... @ 3:35... how much time could that have taken...

  • That guitar bit was fucking amazing. How about an entire album of that?

  • Your stuff is amazing! your technological knowledge is so over the top! I video posted you one of my songs. Check it out, I would love to have someone with your knowledge to mess around with one of my songs.

  • yep muserock, when I first saw him he also reminded me of squarepusher. pretty cool

  • where can i download your album?

  • Between 1:42-2:45, during his Computer+Guitar demonstration he uses his "new pick-up" attached to his guitar. Does anyone else know of another artist who uses this technique. I find it to be very impressive.

  • it's a roland GK Midi pickup. you can get one yourself pretty cheap

  • Very nice...

  • awesome job, man, you're my new musical hero

  • Genius.

  • sounds like Squarepusher

  • absolutely incredible

  • If you want some mind crushing sounds to infinity, get an ipod touch/iphone app called 'toplapapp' part of a live coding experiment. There's control, but also a random button that creates anything from odd samples usable for anything to what sounds like fully squenced patterns that evolve and morph. There's a couple examples posted here on youtube.

  • Wow thats amazing.

  • Similar to Aphex Twin. Love the music man!

  • This is Stinking amazing, dude! where can I buy your music?

  • It would be nice if you could explain you guitar setup a bit more in detail. I use a synth guitar setup myself but the things you are doing with your rig are very interesting to me. If you get a chance please tell us more. Great stuff btw!

  • Shit... amazing stuff. Now I have a new musical idol.

  • whats the name of the song he made with the circuit bent toy

  • i believe it's called "say it"

  • really great - fun and creative, thanks

  • you are sexy.

    Love the screaming.))

  • I like the toast beat.

  • nice job, matt. keep it up.

  • What is that sequencing software he is using for the piano roll?

  • thats cubase

  • This crap sounds like shit!

  • the scream you used sounded so much like come to daddy hahaha

  • you sir, are a musical genius

  • dood ur fuckin dopeee

  • whats that tracking program he's using called?

  • ableton t think but i dont know for shure, i alsow want to know it

  • drum rolls look like cubase

  • Very fuckin cool man! Is the novation still your live controller of choice? Any thoughts on teh Axiom line?

  • look on his blog, his newest controller is made from a DIY midi kit.

  • :))

  • when/where can i get the CD?

  • that shit is fucking genious.

  • you are my heroe men.. you really are..!!! thanks for such inspiration.

  • That shit with the pickup is fresh bro. Yo oughtta start making controllers for Dj's and make some cash. You got some leading edge stuff going on here man.. Peace

  • And the music...

  • I don't like that guy!!

  • I love then end with the speak and spell

  • sweet!!!that's so cool!

  • really cool shit.

  • props for the origional music good use of circuit bending

  • The guitar piece was great. I have a Variax but it can't be computer controlled on the fly. I like that you're into circuit bending as well and it isn't just controllerism. I definitely see you as a producer..not as a guy with a controller in a club as your primary gig. Recording artists always want a producer who can take their standard tracks and push them into another dimension..I think you can do that very well.

  • where you get those guitar pic-ups from????

  • erm, Aphex Twin anyone?

  • i like this guitar.. :)

  • At first I was like O_o

    but then

    I lol'd

  • wow..i am new to this kind of music and at first i was skeptical, but this guy is so creative !

wonder if there were any infringements for using the speak n' spell product in his music.

  • Score one for moldover!

    Subscribed.

  • Like your sound bro.

  • Loved those great noises/sounds/music.I hope you go from strength to strength. For some reason reminded me of the Flaming Lips treatment of sound too

  • really nice! you are very creative and very talented indeed!

  • 2 kewl, made a subscriber outta me!

  • seems like a nice enough guy but honestly, in terms of electronic music (and even heavy music, as evident in his preview) this stuff is all pretty unremarkable. the fast stuff just sounded like your garden variety 5th generation Aphex/IDM exercise. the stuff with guitar and drums sounded like a Berklee School of Music entrance demo. the heavy stuff sounded like a typical local meathead metal band... I don't see what's so amazing, besides the fact that he's probably cool to smoke up with.

  • leave it to the world of youtube which allows any simple-minded coward to comment about every fucking thing...without ever having to put up a track of their own. do you have any idea how much work goes into this music? are you aware that this guy co-ran one of the best and longest running electronic music parties in New York? do you ever leave your room?

    nah, didn't think so...

go listen to Coldplay or Madonna, I'm sure THEY'D be cool to smoke up with too.

Keep it going Matt! Rock on!

  • he's your friend? sorry for being honest. he ran a cool party - awesome. my comment is only about this clip. if you're even slightly involved in electronic music, i'm surprised you haven't encountered at least one of the 1954482 dudes making knock-off Squarepusher/AFX/Autechre/IDM glitch etudes. what about underground heavy music? maybe you'd also realize this is extremely stale stuff. nice guy, respect on the DJing, but these tunes = generic. you post publicly = you get different opinions.

  • You got any tracks of your own that live up to such stringent standards?

  • I don't understand what my tracks have to do with commenting on the music in this clip....

  • I just figured that, you, being the connoisseur of music that you are, must be musician...

Otherwise, what would you know about the production and performance of music?

  • gosh, people are so sensitive here. yeah, i make music. PM me. i still don't understand though, in theory, why i should know about production and performance in order to state an opinion! what if i were just a longtime music listener? let's not hi-jack this page any longer. he's a cool dude, i think the controllerist stuff is fantastic actually. a lot of people will go apeshit over this album, and that's cool. i just think it's nothing fresh - try not to get butthurt over my opinion, ok?

  • Yeah, twitchy droid leg is a beauty!

  • 2 months too late, but I had to add something since silenicakes has a reasonable argument.

Yeah, the glitch stuff isn't breaking any boundaries, but it is extremely well done. Unless Moldover is trying to redefine the genre, then I don't see a problem. If you can't get enough of that sound, then you'll probably love this album. If you think glitch IDM is tired, then this won't change your mind.

Silenicakes is right, but that is no reason to think this stuff isn't great.

  • Ugh, this was suppose to go in that threaded argument. Oh well, hope it doesn't cause too much trouble.

  • K, Seriously. You are amazing!

I love it. You must suffer constant head aches coz ur brain much be pushing so hard against the edges of ur skull!

And you seem majorly down to earth, which i think is one of the main benefits of controlerism than using decks. Seams every person iv met behind a set of decks is a prick, must come with the equiptment.

    Cant wait for the album.

(damn i want your controler! just dont have the guts/money to pull appart my stuff incase i fail)

    J

  • I have inside knowledge that Moldover is a cyborg sent back from the future to help fight the war against controller manufactures.

  • the beat on the acoustic drums reminds me of chameleon by herbie hancock... subconscious, intentional, or neither?

also, i like your music--i'm a bass player, but i'm trying to get into controllerism too. your videos are very helpful in that aim. keep doing it.

  • I love your brain!

  • INSANE STUFF... REALLY

  • Nice ideas- can't wait to check out your album- dug you whn I played the Warper parties back when you were mashing up zappa

What program are you using for those midi events in the 1st example????

  • Dang Moldy, just when you think he can't get any sicker.. Awesome vid and amazing creative technology. Overflowing with win.

  • Moldover, stop being so damn awesome. You're making me jealous! Haha. Seriously though, I want this album.

  • Some of you may know me as a badass motherfucker..... I used my original Octamasher controller to get chicks - just off the Moldover radiation

  • In addition to music super villain Moldover is a comedic documentary phantasm! Thanks for sharing that glimpse into your deliciously warped cranium!

  • Cool !!

Hope to see you at MUTEK this year!

  • i heard a rumor that that Modlover guy doesnt even use computers- those are just screen shots of his brain. he had usb 2.0 and firewire wet wired in one of hsi h4nds and one in his ear so the mixer just controls his brain directly. SICK!

he is like johnny mnemonic but from the future.

    can i be the dolphin?

  • thanks for sharing! i look forward to hear your new pieces soon

  • thanks for sharing! i look forward to hear your new pieces soon

  • Har, I like the shot walking down Jay Street with the Acme Smoked Fish, mostly coz my bands rehearsal studio is round the corner at 8 Meserole ;)

Thanks for sharing Moldster, you should check out the Ztar as a good controller for your synths, no pitch > MIDI tracking errors or latency, hurrah.

There's a new BabyZ coming out too which is way affordable.

  • dude you should study electronics and start making money doing those custom instruments!

  • back in my day we used to solo by hand, not let the computer do it for me.

  • Amazing, man! Now you shut up all those ppl who said u only can mash-up things and stuff like that. Awesome work!

I'm waiting you here on Brazil ^^

  • Your style is abstract + creative, and your methods unique + innovative. For that you get my respect. Keep up Moldy

  • It's so awesome how you're willing to show the whole process. It's really cool to see all of your talents come together too. Great vid, looking forward to the album, especially the speak and spell single, that is great!

  • awesome!!
