I agree. She was a beautiful actress of South VN, named " The beauty Of Binh Duong". She only got plastic surgery when she' s getting older, as any actress or singer in the world, only unlucky because they didn't do good job for her.

she still lives in Saigon I visited her in 1994. My mother and her are sisters. She owned a movie production company but I'm not sure if that is still the case.

I met a Thai filmmaker and his wife who was also an accomplished film actress and singer of Thai cinema (sorry, I don't remember their names. w/ my ignorance of Thai language & culture, their names quickly bounced off my head a second after they formally introduced themselves!) But during our conversation, the director's wife asked me

if I had heard any news on the whereabouts of Tham Thuy Hang since I told her I was from Vietnam. It turns out, this woman who was a screen siren in her native Thailand had worked with Vietnam's screen siren in the past. She said they had travelled & worked together many times in the 60s and early 70s in filmwork, photo shoots, and were celebrity guests at USO shows to support allied troops. They both appeared in one movie together, that had been a joint Thailand/ Hong Kong production...

and though the movie wasn't so successful, upon its release in Thailand, Tham Thuy Hang's beauty gained quite a bit of momentum in Thailand from the film's publicity. So much so, that a featured article in a Thai national media magazine listed their pick of the three most beautiful actresses of Asian cinema of the day to be China's Li Li Hua, India's Savithri, and Vietnam's very own Tham Thuy Hang. Sounds more like a fantasy.I know Hang quite well.She has been my sister-in-law for almost 40 years & I believe I'm the only Caucasian in her family.I've attended her film premiers & watched her make films along with her husband-Dr. Nguyen Xuan Oanh.She is a very talented & industrious person that has dedicated her life to charitable causes primarily associated with the Buddhist faith.She needs no defense!!

101% all of celebrities have major or minor plastic surgery. TTH was unlucky that she has done not a good job AT THAT TIME. Look at all the young vietnamese singers, movie stars (young and old).....

Whatever you like TTH or not, she is the first most beautiful well known in Vietnam and around the world.

I'm not related to her, but both my aunt and godmother were friends of your aunt's before 1975. in '91 I got to meet with her husband briefly when he was speaking at a charity event. I was only 19 and didn't know who he was, until coming back to the U.S. and watching him on a C-span documentary on present day Vietnam. That was when I learned about your aunt. must admitt that I don't think she was so much respected or admired for her acting abilities, but the fact that she was so beautiful made her an icon in South Vietnam's film industry. I'm no doctor, but it looked like she probably had too much silicone injected onto her face and after so long, it began to take its course as her face was starting to droop. naturally gorgeous to begin with. Perhaps, her decision to have all that work done was a sign of her own insecurities. Unfortunately, when she had these procedures done, silicone was still fairly new and thought to be safe. Turning to plastic surgery for many women is a way of dealing withtheir hidden insecurites/ low self-esteem. And just like smoking or drinking, one can lose control and become addicted. Sadly, I think that's what happened w/ Tham Thuy Hang.

Maybe true what you're saying but I must say that not only do women turn to plastic surgery for their insecurities but men as well. As far as not being much respected for her acting abilities I can not say because I have not seen any of her movies. My father is veteranvietnam who commented on this and would know more than anyone being that he is her brother-in-law.
