I expected a deeper sound because of the sound. But you are using a capo so maybe that makes the difference. I do like the sound. Are there two sets of strings? You seem to be playing only the right side.
Thank you for your comment, indeed my playing is not the best by far compared to others on you tube, I try to it give people an idea what my instruments sound like. I must say most of my time, blood&sweat is spent in the workshop making these instruments! (a passionate labour of love) I am currently working on an shorter new Student Theorbo with an original string length of 86cm for a customer who saw&heard this instrument, he will play it better than me for sure!-)
Building instruments is a full time occupation in itself. there have been a number of harpsichord players who also built instruments, but not many other types of instruments.
The favorite instrument of Louis XIV was the lute for it´s rich sonorous expressiveness
and there was that movie "Toutes les matins du monde" regarding lute music.
and it demonstrated the importance of that instrument in France. There is a great theorbo player not far from me in el Escorial.
To kkoblizek: Look up 'Continuo Playing on the Lute, Archlute and Theorbo', Nigel North, Indiana Univ. Press - abt $50US hardcover only. I bought an Early Music Shop theorbo - so happy - it's an awesome instrument!!! I had the same problem, but found this book - it's daunting, but worth it! Good Luck!
Wow, you can play the lute very good! I would like to learn play the lute but in Czech republic is no lute teachers and no publications. But, not long ago, I have searched some book - Varietie of lute lessons from 17th century. It's in oldenglish language. Could you tell me some other publications in English? It would be perfect in Czech, but in English suffices:)).
If the "Varietie of Lute Lessons" is by Robert Dowland, forget it! They are almsot all masterpieces and very difficult to play. You need to start with something much easier.
That's ironic 270 years ago you wouldn't have had a problem in Prague! One Renaissance lute tutor-book is by Stefan Lundgren called New Method for the Renaissance Lute 1991 and the tree Renaissance Lute book both avialble from (Albert Reyerman)Tree editions in Luebeck, Germany.

@NobodyisD2Z ...because of the SIZE, not sound.

well, it´s a start, but you have many years to go, and much blood to sweat.

Ah, the lascivious pleasings of a lute! You're right that my song "Diana Surprised by Actaeon" was missing a lute -- your lute :)
Terrific channel; I've just subscribed and look forward to more.

@kkoblizek There's also an impressive collection of lute tabulature freely available at Dr Frank "Sarge" Gerbode's site, including tutors. Good luck!
