listening to this for the 7th time i have to agree that having them all acoustic makes an awesome sound, although there are different pickups and amplifiers that create an acoustic sound, why not use em?

a pickup can come close, but never as close to true acoustic as a mic can. Personally I don't care much for EMG, and I'll use a pickup only when I want to create that dirty, overdriven rebetiko sound (when playing into a guitar amp). Otherwise I always use a mic...

Sure if you want that super clean sound all the time, but sometimes you want that dirty, overdriven sound you can only achieve with a pick-up and a guitar amp :) Plus, in big ensembles or loud venues there's always a bit of feedback issues with mics. But why not have both? For example, I have a pick up in my bouzouki but in the studio I (almost) always use a mic in front of it.
